He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 78: I Will Give Birth to the Child
The Jacobs Residence.
"You’re coming back to Ferelden with me tomorrow. There’s no place left for you in Crestfall," Clark Jacobs said to Clara Jacobs.
"Dad, I’m not leaving. I’m staying wherever Aiden Sinclair is," Clara said stubbornly.
Clark’s brow furrowed into a tight knot. "Why are you so determined to hang yourself on this one tree? Aiden Sinclair is already married to another woman!"
"I don’t care if he’s married or not. All I know is that I have to have him in this lifetime. I’m staying in Crestfall," Clara insisted.
For her now, it was less about love and more about winning, proving herself, and making Aiden Sinclair regret everything he had done!
Clark was so furious he raised his hand, wishing he could slap some sense into her.
"Clara’s right. She can’t leave Crestfall. She needs to stay here and win everyone’s respect." Sophia Sawyer suddenly appeared, pushing the door open at the Jacobs’ home.
Clara had been feeling utterly alone and helpless. Seeing Sophia supporting her, she blurted out "Mom" in her excitement. After she said it, she lowered her head, aggrieved. "Aiden and I are no longer together. I can’t call you ’Mom’ anymore. I should call you ’Auntie.’"
"Don’t be silly. I’m still your mother. You can always call me Mom. If you can’t be my daughter-in-law, you can just be my daughter," Sophia said. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"What?" the Jacobs father and daughter asked in unison.
"I’m going to adopt Clara as my goddaughter. I’ll announce it in the papers and to the media tomorrow," Sophia declared.
Clara was thrilled. This would give her a reason to get close to Aiden Sinclair again.
"Mom!" Clara joyfully threw herself into Sophia’s arms.
Clark rubbed his forehead and asked Sophia to step outside.
"What are you trying to do? Clara’s reputation in Crestfall is already in ruins. Staying here will only bring her more pain," Clark demanded.
Sophia raised an eyebrow, furious. "I should be asking you that! Why did you agree to that old codger’s demand to marry Clara off to that bastard, Julian Sinclair? What are you plotting?"
"What am I plotting? Clara is my daughter! Everything I’m doing is for her own good. She and Julian Sinclair... they’ve already been intimate. If she marries him, both Russell Sinclair and Julian will feel indebted to Clara and will surely be devoted to her... Isn’t that better than the cold-hearted Aiden Sinclair?"
Sophia planted her hands on her hips. "Clara is my daughter now, too!"
Sophia deliberately emphasized the word "daughter." "I won’t let her be wronged. Whatever she wants, I’ll help her get it!"
Seeing how stubborn she was, Clark had no idea how to reason with her.
Inside the room, just after Clark and Sophia had left, Clara’s phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Clara Jacobs, when are you going to make good on your promise? If you don’t, I’ll expose you. You’re the one who made me frame Nina Walsh again and again. You can forget about ever returning to the entertainment industry!"
As soon as the call connected, Wendy Sherman’s threat came pouring out.
Clara frowned in disgust and was about to hang up when Wendy shouted from the other end, "It’s infuriating! That Nina Walsh is already with Aiden Sinclair, but she still won’t let go of Declan Grant. And Declan is as dense as a block of wood, completely devoted to Nina. He knows she’s pregnant, yet he still wants to get engaged to her. Isn’t he an idiot?"
An idea suddenly struck Clara, and her tone softened.
"Wendy, don’t be angry. We’re on the same side now. We have a common enemy."
Clara first calmed Wendy down, then said slowly, "I have a way for you to marry Declan Grant. Do you want to try it?"
Wendy took the bait immediately. "What is it?"
"If, one day, Declan Grant becomes someone nobody wants, and you’re the only person in all of Crestfall willing to marry him, would the Grant Family still object to you?" Clara asked, her voice laced with temptation.
Wendy paused, as if she understood, but also as if she didn’t. "He’s so outstanding. How could nobody want him?"

「Cloudcrest Manor」
Nina Walsh was awakened by a series of CLANGS and BANGS. She got out of bed.
Along with the CLANGING and BANGING, she could hear Fantuan’s occasional WOOFs.
Nina thought he had gotten stuck somewhere again, so she got out of bed to check on the situation.
The noise was coming from a room next to the bedroom.
The door was ajar. Nina pushed it open.
Inside the room, two of the walls were pale blue and two were pale pink. A soft feather lamp hung from the ceiling, and a plush play mat covered the floor. Next to the mat stood a white crib.
Next to the crib, Aiden Sinclair, dressed in a white t-shirt and casual pants, was wearing gloves and assembling another identical crib.
He was completely focused, with a few beads of sweat on his forehead and a lock of hair falling over his brow.
Nina walked into the room and couldn’t resist touching the plush toys, which looked incredibly soft.
"Fantuan, these are for your little brother and sister. You can’t play with them."
Aiden Sinclair looked up, and a smile immediately spread across his face when he saw it was Nina.
He glanced at the slippers on Nina’s feet—they were white and fluffy.
"I thought Fantuan was causing trouble again," he said with a casual laugh, looking completely different from the usual, suit-clad Mr. Sinclair.
Nina didn’t know what to say and turned to leave.
Aiden pushed a lounge chair over. "Want to sit here for a while?"
The lounge chair was covered with a soft cushion and looked incredibly comfortable and relaxing.
Nina had intended to leave, but as if possessed, she nodded.
Aiden took off his gloves and happily helped her lie down in the chair.
"Is it comfortable? The parenting consultant said sleeping in a bed can get uncomfortable later in the pregnancy. I ordered three lounge chairs—one for the garden, and one for downstairs."
Nina didn’t respond, but Aiden didn’t seem to mind at all. He put his gloves back on and continued assembling the crib while asking for her opinion.
"Nina, do you like this nursery? I was thinking of putting a door in this wall to connect it to the room next door."
"I should have realized earlier that we might have twins. I should have designed the entire floor as a children’s area from the start—a bedroom, a walk-in closet, a playroom, and even a small study just for the babies’ books..."
Lately, whenever he had free time, he would set aside his business to decorate the nursery. From the room’s color scheme and layout to the purchasing of toys, he handled every detail himself.
"You’re going to all this trouble just to prove to me that you care about the children in my belly."
After all Aiden had said, Nina finally spoke.
"Your proof is very thoughtful, but no matter how thoughtful you are, it can’t erase the fact that I was hurt because of you."
Nina stood up, looking as if she had made a momentous decision.
"From now on, you don’t have to keep running back and forth. Go on and be your brilliant businessman, be the heir to the Sinclair Group. I won’t run away. I will stay here and give birth to the children."
She took a step back, giving them both some breathing room.
Nina’s words sounded like a compromise, but Aiden heard the finality in them.
’She would have the children, but only because the children themselves were precious. It had nothing to do with him, and even less to do with them getting back together.’
