He Got Engaged to His First Love On the Day I Died-Chapter 106: You Ask Her Just Whose Child It Was
He was strong and virile, his desire overwhelming.
He was on the verge of losing all reason.
Natalie Morgan was terrified of Theodore Grant when he was like this.
He was like a demon who could destroy her at any moment.
She shoved him away with all her might, her eyes filled with panic. "No, don’t do this... We really can’t."
Her voice trembled, laced with an unspeakable terror.
At her rejection, Theodore Grant’s gaze instantly turned icy, and his movements grew rough and forceful.
She knew she stood no chance of resisting.
"Theodore..." she finally managed to say, her voice trembling with helplessness. "I... Please, don’t be like this. Really. Just calm down."
The truth was on the tip of her tongue, but she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
Unconcealable pain and anxiety filled her eyes.
"Theodore, I’m begging you. Don’t. Really, please don’t do this, okay?"
"Why can’t I? Natalie Morgan, who the hell are you saving yourself for? You’re my fucking wife, can’t I even touch you?" Theodore Grant’s anger flared.
"Theodore, can’t you be rational for a moment?" Her eyes trembled violently. "I’m begging you, all right? Just spare me this once. Just this once, please?"
Her pleas and rejections only irritated him further, and he gave her no more chances to speak.
’My stomach hurts so much...’
She curled into a ball, trying to ease the pain, but...
She already knew what the consequences would be.
She sobbed, heartbroken, the pain so great she wanted to die.
"Don’t cry. Does your stomach hurt? You’re not a child. I’ll go make you some brown sugar water." He bent down to hold her, but she only cried harder, hating him so much she wanted to kill him. "Theodore Grant, you’re a murderer! You are! You killed him! You killed him..."
Theodore Grant was utterly bewildered, as if lost in a thick fog.
"Stop crying, and I’ll take you to the hospital." He tried to pick her up.
She shoved him away. "Don’t touch me! Get out! Get out..."
He was not a patient man to begin with.
And Natalie Morgan was provoking him again and again.
His expression turned exceptionally foul.
"Natalie Morgan, I show you a little kindness and you forget your place?"
"Get out..."
He grit his teeth, forcing himself not to hold it against her. He scooped her up and went to the hospital.
"Sir, your wife has had a miscarriage. She needs to undergo a D&C procedure. Please sign here."
The doctor emerged from the emergency room, holding a form.
Theodore Grant thought he must have misheard. His brow furrowed tightly, and his voice trembled. "What did you say? What happened to her?"
"She had a miscarriage. Your wife was pregnant. Didn’t you know?"
The doctor’s words struck Theodore Grant like a bolt from the blue.
He felt as if his entire world had collapsed into pitch-black darkness. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
’Pregnant?’
’No wonder she always refused me, always said we couldn’t.’
’So, she... was pregnant.’
His breath caught in his throat, and his heart felt as if it were being pierced by a thousand knives.
The pain was so intense he could barely breathe.
After a long moment, he finally signed his name, the tip of the pen trembling.
He sat outside the emergency room, remaining still for a long time as he tried to calm down.
’Was the baby she was carrying mine?’
’If it was mine, why didn’t she say anything when I was with her?’
’Why?’
’Why would she rather risk the baby’s life than tell me she was pregnant? Why?’
’Was it not my child?’
’Then whose could it be?’
’At Unity Hospital, only Sean Lane and Felix Finch had visited her.’
’Was it one of them?’
Theodore Grant clutched his head, struggling in agony.
After the procedure, Natalie Morgan was wheeled into a hospital room.
She stared blankly at the pristine white ceiling as her eyes reddened and filled with tears.
She held back her sobs, biting her lip so hard it nearly drew blood, refusing to let herself cry out loud.
The door to the room creaked open, and Theodore Grant walked in.
He remained silent for a long time.
Just as he was about to speak, her voice trembled. "Get out. I don’t want to see you."
He took a deep breath.
His brow furrowed as he looked at the pale woman on the bed.
"Whose child was it?"
She glared at him, her eyes burning with deep-seated hatred, like an enraged beast roaring to tear everything apart.
"Whosever it was is none of your business."
The man ran a hand over his face, inhaling deeply and then exhaling slowly.
His voice carried a barely perceptible tremor. "It was mine, wasn’t it?"
"Are you even worthy?"
She squeezed her eyes shut in anguish, tears of sorrow and despair seeping out.
In that moment, it felt as though her world was collapsing, all her hopes and dreams turning to nothing.
He wanted to say something.
His chest felt clogged with some unnamable emotion. He opened his mouth to speak several times, but nothing came out.
His large hand closed tightly around her small, ice-cold one.
She struggled to pull free but couldn’t summon the strength.
’Theodore Grant was a man. If he wanted children, he could find any woman to bear them for him.’
’He didn’t care about her own dwindling chances of ever becoming a mother.’
’But she did.’
’That was her reason to live, her only source of courage and hope.’
No longer able to hold back, she broke down, crying in raw agony.
Her anguished cries echoed in the empty room, enough to move anyone to pity.
Theodore Grant called Claire Grant, asking her to come to the hospital to look after Natalie Morgan.
When Claire Grant arrived at the hospital, she found out about Natalie Morgan’s miscarriage.
"What happened? Did you hit her?" Claire Grant frowned, looking at the grim-faced man. "How could she have a miscarriage? She was pregnant, how could you..."
"Enough." He ran his hands through his hair in frustration. "You take care of her. I have to leave for a bit."
"Theodore, Natalie just had a miscarriage! As her husband, what could possibly be so important that you have to leave? Shouldn’t you be staying here and comforting her? She was carrying your child!"
Claire Grant grabbed Theodore’s arm, pulling him back.
Already in a foul mood, the man’s temper flared. "Was she carrying my child? If she was carrying my child, why didn’t she tell me? If she had told me she was pregnant, I wouldn’t have touched her! You go ask her! Go on, ask her whose child she was really carrying!"
SLAP.
Claire Grant gave Theodore a sharp slap across the face.
"Theodore, are you even human? If she wasn’t carrying your child, then whose would it be? You even doubt that? You... I think you’ve actually gone insane."
She was so angry her fingertips were trembling.
"Fine, I’m a psycho! I’m the one who should be locked in an asylum! I’ll go find a place to lose my mind!"
Seething with rage, Theodore Grant stormed out of the hospital.
Claire Grant gasped for air, desperately trying to suppress the suffocating feeling in her chest.
Only then did she push open the door to the hospital room and step inside.
"Natalie," Claire said, her voice barely a whisper, as if afraid to disturb her. "Are you okay?"
