He Got Engaged to His First Love On the Day I Died-Chapter 136: The Angrier You Get, the More Excited I Am
Their destination was a small island in the middle of the sea.
It was an undeveloped area.
But the scenery was superb, and you could see a scattering of people here and there, enjoying themselves or sea fishing.
Felix Finch had been patiently playing with the little baby.
Natalie Morgan, for the most part, simply stared out at the vast expanse of the ocean, lost in thought.
"Natalie, let’s go play on the islet for a while. We can go sea fishing there," Felix Finch said, a gentle smile on his face.
Natalie Morgan curved her lips into a small smile. "Okay."
The yacht soon pulled up to the islet.
Natalie Morgan never expected to run into Theodore Grant here.
He was holding a fishing rod, sitting there leisurely like an old man out for a day of fishing.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Natalie Morgan suddenly stop in her tracks, Felix Finch followed her gaze. When he saw Theodore Grant, he took her hand. "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
"Let’s stay away from him."
"Alright, let’s go play over there."
Holding Momo in one arm and Natalie Morgan in the other hand, Felix Finch led them to another reef.
The distance wasn’t great; they could still see each other with just a glance.
"Mr. Grant, Felix Finch and the Young Madam... He’s doing this on purpose, isn’t he?" Weller Kendall was fuming.
Theodore Grant’s expression was calm. He gave them a cool glance, then noticed his float bobbing. He yanked the rod hard. "Got a bite."
"Mr. Grant, you’ve certainly learned how to swallow your anger," Weller Kendall said, staring at the ’family of three’ in the distance. "They look more like a real family."
Theodore Grant didn’t say a word.
He didn’t look over again, either.
He was afraid he’d lose control and start a fight with Felix Finch.
’Is it really a coincidence, meeting on an uninhabited island?’
’I’m not that naive.’
"Weller, keep a close eye on Natalie Morgan and that child. Felix Finch is not the gentle, noble man he appears to be."
Weller Kendall was immediately on high alert. "What’s he planning to do? Murder?"
"Just be careful. It’s best if nothing happens." He hoped he was just overthinking things.
Momo watched the uncle across from them catch one fish after another.
He grew incredibly envious and started fussing. "Want fish, want fish."
"Momo, Uncle will go get a fishing rod, and we can fish too, okay?" Felix Finch coaxed patiently.
The little guy clapped his hands happily. "Yay, yay."
Natalie Morgan didn’t want Felix Finch to spoil the child and stopped him. "Don’t go get it. I think the weather’s changing. Let’s just play a little longer and then head back."
"It’s fine. We finally got a chance to come out and have fun, let’s not make the little guy unhappy."
Felix Finch hopped off the reef in a few quick steps.
As he passed the reef where Theodore Grant was fishing, he deliberately stopped and walked over. "What a coincidence."
"A coincidence?" The man baited his hook and cast his line, his tone contemptuous. "Didn’t you calculate this, Dr. Finch? That I’d be here at this exact time?"
Felix Finch chuckled. "Theodore, you’re just too smart."
"I’ve been thinking these past few days, why are you doing all this? What else have you done?" He lifted his eyes to look at the man standing beside him. "The reason... it couldn’t really be because of Rose Yeats, could it?"
"You’re not worthy of saying her name." In an instant, Felix Finch’s face darkened.
Theodore Grant understood.
’So it really is because of Rose Yeats.’
"You’re blaming me for Rose Yeats’s death. Don’t you think that’s a bit absurd? She jumped off a building carrying *your* child, not mine. All these years have passed, and you’ve never once looked for a reason within yourself?"
Felix Finch had pinned all the blame on Theodore Grant’s head.
From Theodore Grant’s perspective, this was utterly baffling.
"Theodore Grant, when she died, she was screaming your name! She met with you multiple times before her death. What did you two talk about? Why would she suddenly commit suicide? Wasn’t it because of unrequited love? Wasn’t it all because of you? You indirectly killed my child, and now you’re trying to deny it?"
The veins on Felix Finch’s hands bulged.
He was like a caged beast about to erupt.
The next second, he grabbed Theodore Grant by the collar. "You should take full responsibility for her death! Whatever revenge I take on you, you deserve it. You made me lose my wife, so I can make you lose your wife, too."
"What are you trying to do?" Theodore Grant grabbed Felix Finch’s wrist and yanked it away, warning him, "If you dare do anything to Natalie Morgan, I swear I’ll wipe out your entire Finch Family."
"Fine, then we’ll all die together."
For years, Felix Finch had been living in a daze, forced to pretend to be a gentleman, to maintain the image of a deeply devoted lover. He was tired of acting every single day.
’The Finch Family? To hell with them.’
’He was his own person; the Finch Family was the Finch Family.’
’He didn’t care.’
Theodore Grant knew Felix Finch all too well.
Ever since they were kids, he’d always been a difficult, contrary person.
But in recent years, he seemed to have become much more docile and obedient.
Theodore Grant had always thought he’d changed because of Rose Yeats’s death.
’No, he hadn’t changed at all.’
’He was just putting on a disguise.’
"I think you’ve gone mad."
"Theodore Grant, I have nothing left! And you? In the prime of your life, you got to meet the girl of a lifetime—a girl who only had eyes for you. She couldn’t see the filthy, despicable, ugly you. She adored you, and she even got to marry you. On what grounds? Do you fucking deserve it?"
’After his own happiness had been completely snuffed out.’
’How could Theodore be allowed to have his own happiness?’
’No, he would never allow it.’
Theodore Grant suddenly froze.
’Felix Finch knew about his first meeting with Natalie Morgan?’
’How did he know?’
’Then Wanda Lynch’s impersonation later on... could it be...?’
"Back then, when Wanda Lynch came to me... you arranged it?" He realized he had walked right into a trap from the very beginning.
Felix Finch suddenly burst into wild laughter.
He pointed at Theodore Grant, laughing at his foolishness, laughing at how he, too, became an idiot once he fell in love.
"I was the one who found Wanda Lynch. She’s nothing but a greedy, lecherous bitch who coveted the position of the Grant Family’s Young Madam. But what I didn’t expect was that you’d fall for her lies, one after another, and give so much for her. You drove the girl who only had eyes for you to suicide, to run away, to sever all ties with you. Tell me, aren’t you stupid? Incurably stupid."
A clap of thunder seemed to explode in Theodore Grant’s mind.
He shot his hand out and seized Felix Finch by the throat, his face contorted with rage, his eyes blazing as if on fire. "So, the grand puppet master behind it all was you, my dear childhood friend."
"The reason I’m telling you all this is because I know that no matter how you try to tell Natalie Morgan the truth, she’ll never believe you." His eyes were bloodshot, tinged with a morbid frenzy. "In this lifetime, she will only ever believe me. Tell me, isn’t that fun?"
"You..." A chilling coldness seeped from Theodore Grant’s grim eyes.
He tightened his grip, his fingertips digging in until Felix Finch’s face turned purple.
But he didn’t resist, simply letting Theodore Grant manhandle him.
The angrier Theodore Grant got, the more excited he became.
"Theodore Grant... what you owe me... what you owe Rose Yeats... I will take it all back... bit by bit." He could barely speak from the choking, but his eyes shone with a perverse light.
