Chapter 65: I am strong, I won.

"RAIDEN!!!" the Lord shouted from the side. "Can I kill him?"

"You can do whatever you want," Raiden said beside him with a sigh. "But the consequences are on you, and in this case it would be a civil war."

"So then," I said as I stood up, all those damn blades still pointed at me. "Are you done with this invasion talk? Because I just wanted my clothes, and by now everyone in this castle has already seen me naked."

Sigh

"Everyone, disperse!" Raiden shouted, making them all scatter with irritated tongue clicks. "You too!" He glared at the Lord, annoyed.

"I’ll remember this!" the Lord yelled as he retreated, black lightning emanating from his figure.

"And you..." Raiden said, looking at me. "What is this?" he muttered.

"Evolution!" I shouted back at him. "For someone who can see other people’s consciousness, you sure focus way too much on appearances, don’t you?!" I snapped back.

Sigh

Raiden brought a hand to his face and simply waved it off.

"I didn’t even finish my sleep. Just disappear—I want to sleep a bit more." He turned his back and left.

"You weren’t this strong," Gravis said beside me. "What the hell did you eat out there?"

"You’d be surprised by the answer."

I turned away, with Love peeking over my shoulder and the other little rats following me.

"Rats?" Gravis wondered as I kept marching toward the bedroom.

Click

I turned the doorknob and entered the room calmly with a yawn.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Euphy shouted from the bed, looking me up and down. She immediately tried to draw a weapon—

WOOSH

My aura locked her in place.

"It’s me, Euphy. Kai," I said, walking toward the wardrobe. "I just went out for a morning walk, met some new friends, ate cheese and a grilled steak, and then evolved along the way."

I retracted my aura.

Cough, cough

I turned to her. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Do you think I look good?" I asked with genuine doubt. "I spent a lot of time thinking about every detail and—"

THUD

She threw a vase at my head.

"Clothes, Kai! Clothes!" Her face was bright red. "For God’s sake! Don’t be a savage!"

Sigh

I quickly put on a white robe that matched my new appearance well and looked at myself in the mirror.

This time, my features were no longer villainous.

In fact, I looked like a righteous hero sent by the gods!

My face was gentle, with green eyes and blond hair marked with tiger-like stripes. Two feral ears stood out on top, and a long, fluffy tail swayed below.

A perfect hybrid form!

Finally, my form would be stable.

"What did you do to gain so much aura overnight?" Euphy asked as she got out of bed.

"Nothing special. I just ate something different and killed a few arrogant bastards." Euphy stepped closer, inspecting the rats around me.

"And these?" she asked, resisting the urge to kill them on the spot.

"You can ask them—they’re pretty smart," Love nodded in agreement from my shoulder.

"Anyway... it’s time to train," Euphy said, opening the curtain and seeing the sun rising in the sky.

Gulp

I swallowed hard, thinking about what it might taste like.

"You can go ahead," I said, still staring at the sun with a reflective expression. "I have something to do first."

"Okay..." Euphy said, grabbing her things and leaving the room.

Without much hurry, I stayed there, just watching the sun rise on the horizon.

Birds were waking in their nests, chirping in unison. Flowers were blooming beautifully despite the intense cold. Meanwhile, men and women were already working all throughout the castle.

I smiled, satisfied, before calmly and lightly walking toward the training grounds.

Along the way, I simply appreciated the scenery around me—the life around me in all its forms.

On the path, I encountered the servants I had scared earlier. I even thought about apologizing to them.

But again, I just moved on, breathing in the cold air and returning the warm air from my lungs.

It was strange...

I felt in harmony with nature like never before.

It was a strange feeling to look at the small rodents running around me and feel such immense peace and joy.

I soon arrived at the training grounds. Raiden was irritated, while Laxus looked slightly impatient.

Even Euphy, standing nearby, had a strange smile.

Only Gravis seemed normal.

"You took... a long time..." she said. "But whatever, let’s start already and—"

"No," I said, making Raiden raise an eyebrow, his scowl growing even more irritated.

"What did you say?!" he shouted, stepping forward. "Have you lost your damn mind?! I am the damn—"

"Gravis, let’s have breakfast. They’ll come later," I said, turning my back without wasting more time.

"But what?!" Raiden shouted as Euphy and Laxus exchanged looks before Gravis sighed and followed me.

"Sure," he said, coming up beside me, and I simply patted his head with a smile.

Gravis’ eyes widened in response, but he silently accepted it.

"What are we supposed to do?" Raiden asked. "The training was for Kai and Gravis... if they’re not here... there’s no training..."

"Ah, damn it!" Raiden exclaimed, coming after us, the others following him.

Arriving in the same meeting room as before, I sat beside Gravis, and soon we asked the angelic maid to bring us some snacks.

"How was your battle?" Gravis asked me while we waited.

"It was different from all the others," I said, watching her pour my coffee onto the table. "For the first time, I felt strong."

I brought the coffee to my lips and drank with peace in my heart.

"You never felt strong before?" Gravis asked, and I shook my head.

"Most of the time, there was something or someone pushing me forward, telling me what I should or shouldn’t be, what I should do. Who I should fight, and so on." I remembered my days at the castle with nostalgia.

"Or even when I chose my enemies, they were much stronger than me, requiring intense cooperation." I remembered Vlad and his army.

"But this time, I chose my opponent," I said with pride. "And I defeated him alone, using only my own strength."

I smiled.

"I won a battle. Alone."

Then I took another sip of my coffee.

"No one can say I’m weak anymore. No one can tell me what to do. No one can choose my enemies or say who I am or who I should be."

I laughed softly.

"This is strength. This is freedom."

"I see..." Gravis said beside me, just as Raiden entered the room and grabbed one of the cups from the tray.

"SHIT!" Raiden stared at me and let the cup fall, shattering. "SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!"

"What is it?" Laxus asked beside him, but he didn’t answer—his eyes following Raiden’s gaze to me. "HOLY FUCK!!!"

Laxus dropped his cup.

"What’s all this commotion?!" Euphy shouted as she entered the room, her eyes landing on me.

Immediately, her eyes widened, her mouth fell open, and her body began to tremble.

She leaned against the wall so she wouldn’t fall, her breathing turning irregular as tears welled up in her eyes.

She shook her head in denial several times in succession.

"No... it can’t be," she kept denying it.

Beside her, Gravis frowned and focused his gaze on me.

His eyes widened to their limit as he realized the truth. Tears quickly streamed down.

"Love, do you want coffee?" I asked, offering it to her and her siblings, who soon accepted.

I kept drinking coffee with my little rat by the window, the glow of the sun and of life illuminating us.

"Brother..." Gravis began to cry. "Why are you dead?"
