Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 144 - 145 I am the Heavenly Dragon!
Qin Long let out a helpless sigh. This was an experience gained from years of battle in the army: either one side ruled supreme, or various factions gathered to squabble amongst themselves. Zi’er simply smiled faintly without speaking.
「Back at the Tang Family courtyard.」
Having just bathed, Tang Xuewu, dressed in her pajamas, quietly slipped into Qin Long’s room.
"A-Long, the more I think about it, the more something seems off," she said softly, her pretty face filled with confusion. "Did you recognize the man in that video?"
As soon as she had gotten home, Tang Xuewu began to ponder the matter. It was just too coincidental that Qin Long would fall and destroy Tiantian’s phone at that exact moment. Upon closer scrutiny, the incident was riddled with holes. She recalled the look on his face and the timing of it all. He definitely threw the phone into the hot pot on purpose. But why? Only Qin Long himself knew the answer.
"Ah, where would I have seen him?" Qin Long scratched his head, speaking helplessly.
"You’ve really never seen him before?" Tang Xuewu pressed, her brows furrowed.
"Really, never," Qin Long replied, raising his hand to swear an oath with a serious expression. He absolutely could not let her know that the man in the video was him. Besides, the video was blurry, filmed from behind. Back then, he had a robust physique and was full of youthful vigor. Now, on top of his disability, he had gained a fair bit of weight under Tang Xuewu’s meticulous care. Based on his current physique and temperament, no one would recognize him.
"Then tell me, what’s with that white battle robe and white sword?" Tang Xuewu asked, her eyes narrowed with suspicion. "I remember those were the two items Wang Ming stole."
"Those are standard-issue uniforms and weapons in the army," Qin Long said, startled but quickly coming up with an excuse.
Tang Xuewu nodded slightly. "Fine, let’s say they’re standard issue. But you were so obviously shocked at the time. I refuse to believe you’ve never seen the man in the video! And I just found out today how skilled you are; how could you possibly just fall over like that? What are you deliberately hiding, A-Long? Or have you been lying to me all this time?"
A flash of anger appeared in Tang Xuewu’s beautiful eyes. Jiang Tiantian had warned her that Qin Long might be more than he seemed, that he was hiding something.
At this point, Qin Long could no longer find any more excuses. It seemed he had to tell the truth. Seeing him fall into silent contemplation, Tang Xuewu knew her guess was correct.
"Qin Long, I’ve cared for you so genuinely for three years," she said, tears welling in her eyes. "And even now, you refuse to trust me, feeding me one lie after another."
Seeing the tear stains on her beautiful face, Qin Long sighed helplessly and reached for her hand, but she angrily shook him off.
"Don’t touch me!"
Looking at her pitifully aggrieved face, Qin Long slowly used his crutch to stand, locked the door, and then carefully scanned their surroundings. But what I’m about to say might bring her disaster. I have to set some rules.
"Xuewu, I’ll tell you," he said, his expression turning solemn.
Tang Xuewu immediately wiped her tears and perked up her ears.
"Xuewu, you must swear that you will never tell anyone else. Not even Aunt Lan or Uncle He De. This concerns the safety and future of Great Xia!" Qin Long decided he wouldn’t hide the truth from her any longer.
"Mm-hmm!" Tang Xuewu immediately raised her hand and swore, "I, Tang Xuewu, swear that I will not speak of this carelessly. If I break this oath, may I... never get married!"
Qin Long watched her for a moment before lighting a cigarette.
"That white robe is the Heavenly Dragon War Robe, the robe of the War God of Great Xia. That sword is called the Sky-Cleaving Punishment Sword. It transcends the law and was bestowed personally by the Emperor of Great Xia. This is the attire of the army’s strongest Battle Dragon, the Nine-Star Dragon Marshal. In the entire military, only one person is permitted to use that sword and robe. That person is the man in the video."
"He is the commander of the Southern Region’s million-strong Heavenly Dragon Army, the leader of the Four War Venerables..."
"That man is me, Qin Long!"
At this moment, Qin Long concealed nothing, his expression extremely serious. He didn’t seem to be talking nonsense at all. After speaking, he quietly watched Tang Xuewu, having finally laid all his secrets bare before her.
For a moment, the room fell into a deathly silence.
When Tang Xuewu finally processed his words, her expression changed dramatically. She stood frozen, her mouth agape in shock.
"Qin Long, what nonsense are you talking about?" she finally managed to say after a long stupor.
Qin Long took a deep breath and explained again, "I am the person in that video. I am Great Xia’s former supreme War God—Heavenly Dragon."
"I, Qin Long, am Heavenly Dragon," he stated calmly.
This time, Tang Xuewu was taken aback for a moment before she burst out laughing, looking at him as if he were a fool.
"Oh, A-Long, did you forget to take the medicine I got for you?"
Qin Long sighed helplessly.
Tang Xuewu opened the container of medicine for Qin Long’s condition and frowned. "It doesn’t look like he missed a dose! Why is his condition relapsing?" she murmured, her stunning face etched with confusion.
Hearing this, Qin Long could only spread his hands in resignation. "I’m not sick. Everything I said is true. I am the commander of the Southern Heavenly Dragon Army—Heavenly Dragon. This is a monumental secret, and you must keep it."
But no matter how earnestly he explained, Tang Xuewu refused to believe him. She was convinced this was a sign he hadn’t fully recovered. If Qin Long was truly the Heavenly Dragon, how could he have ended up in such a miserable state? She concluded that he must be spouting nonsense.
Seeing her look at him like he was an idiot, Qin Long sighed again. What could he do? He had told her everything, but she simply wouldn’t believe him. Tang Xuewu, on the other hand, looked like Sherlock Holmes, proud of herself for having seen through his "ruse."
"Alright, alright, our A-Long is the War God of Great Xia, so impressive..." she said placatingly, also worried about agitating him and making his condition worse.
"A-Long, still trying to trick me?" Tang Xuewu pouted, her expression full of smug satisfaction. "Since you know him, he must be a high-ranking commander in your army, right? Tell me more about him, but you’re not allowed to say it’s you again, or I’ll beat you up! I’ve admired heroes since I was a child, so tell me, quickly."
She waved her little fist at him threateningly before hugging a pillow and sitting down to listen.
Feeling utterly helpless, Qin Long slowly began, "The man in the video is Heavenly Dragon, the Commander of the Southern Region’s million-strong Heavenly Dragon Army and the leader of Great Xia’s Four War Venerables. He holds the rank of Nine-Star Dragon Marshal."
"It’s really me," Qin Long emphasized once more.
Tang Xuewu heard him loud and clear. She stared for a moment, then picked up his traditional Chinese medicine, carefully counted the pills, and checked the medication log she kept.
"The count is right. He didn’t miss any doses... How is his condition relapsing again?" she mumbled to herself, her pretty face a mask of confusion.
Hearing this, Qin Long could only let out another helpless sigh. "I’m not sick. I’m perfectly fine."
"I, Qin Long, am the supreme War God of Great Xia—Heavenly Dragon."
