Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 169 - 170 Tang Family Banquet!
As soon as Wang Ming heard the Old Master’s words, his anger surged. Tang Xuewu must be his. Besides, the Tang Family Ancestral House wasn’t his either. When the time came, he would win over Tang Xuewu and seize the Tang Family Ancestral House in an instant. He had heard from his grandfather that there were treasures in the ancestral house. How could he not be tempted?
"Old Master, I understand your thinking," Wang Ming said, gritting his teeth. "Xuewu only feels familial affection and pity for that fool, not love. Once I marry her, I can let Qin Long stay with us. I’ll find him the best caregiver in the Wang Family."
"This...?" Even Old Master Tang was unsure of Wang Ming’s intentions. He stroked his beard as he gazed at Wang Ming. He had never imagined that Wang Ming could be so accommodating.
However, inside, Wang Ming was sneering endlessly. The bond between Tang Xuewu and Qin Long isn’t love, just pity—a sense of familial obligation. As long as I, Wang Ming, slightly alter my strategy, once we’re at the Wang Family estate, crushing Qin Long will be as simple as saying the word. But before he dies, I’ll do some indecent things with Tang Xuewu right in front of him. The thought alone is thrilling... Over a dozen depraved images flashed through Wang Ming’s mind, and the corners of his mouth twisted into a perverse smile.
Old Master Tang looked at Wang Ming, shook his head, and sighed helplessly. "I will not interfere in this matter. As long as Xuewu is willing to be with you, I’ll support it wholeheartedly. If it doesn’t work out, then my hands are tied."
Wang Ming feigned extreme confidence, his face beaming. "Old Master, I understand. I will definitely make Xuewu see Qin Long’s true colors and convince her to marry me."
Contempt filled Wang Ming’s heart. That cripple Qin Long, who needs a cane to walk, dares to compete with me for Tang Xuewu? If word got out, everyone would laugh their heads off.
「The next day.」
It was still at the old Tang Family courtyard, which was lively today, as all the descendants of the Tang Family had arrived. Having miraculously survived two near-death experiences, Old Master Tang wanted to host a banquet. He knew he should have gone to thank Qin Long personally, but he just couldn’t bring himself to take that step. So instead, he used the guise of a family banquet to invite the Tangs for a simple meal. Naturally, every member of the Tang family came. After all, no one dared to disrespect the Old Master.
Even Tang Xuewu’s family, who were usually neglected and sidelined, received an invitation. This left Tang De and Zhang Meilan feeling overwhelmed with surprise. They were normally never notified of such banquets, so to receive a personal call from the Old Master’s butler was a tremendous honor.
"Mom, this is all thanks to Qin Long," Tang Xuewu quickly reminded Zhang Meilan. "We have this wonderful opportunity because he cured Grandpa."
"Hmph, what’s so great about that?" Zhang Meilan retorted, placing her hands on her hips with a look of displeasure. "So he knows a little bit of superficial acupuncture. We were invited because we’re part of the Tang Family. He, Qin Long, is just an outsider." With that, she spun around and strode quickly toward the old Tang Family house in her high heels.
The banquet began in the classic courtyard, which, despite its age, still looked distinguished with its old-fashioned red sandalwood tables and chairs. Everyone sat around a long table pieced together to stretch for over ten meters, with the Tang family members seated on either side. Old Master Tang occupied the grandmaster chair at the head. Tang Xuewu’s family, however, was seated in a secluded spot closest to the door. They weren’t offended, though. After all, simply being able to attend such a banquet was already a great honor, so how could they dare complain? Even though Zhang Meilan was fuming internally, she didn’t show it.
The table was covered with a variety of exquisite delicacies, each looking like the work of a master chef. Even the cuisine at a top-tier hotel would barely compare. Although the Tang Family had declined to the status of a third-rate family, hosting a small, luxurious banquet was still easily within their means.
Old Master Tang personally carried a few plates of dishes and placed them before the memorial tablet of the late matriarch, Tang Rulan. Everyone instantly rose to their feet, followed the Old Master’s lead, and bowed deeply. After completing this ritual, they returned to their seats.
Qin Long, however, simply continued to feast heartily on a leg of lamb and sip his fruit juice. After all, he wasn’t a member of the Tang Family and felt no obligation to bow.
The Tang family members all waited for Old Master Tang to speak.
"Recently, I have walked through the gates of hell twice, and our Tang Family has experienced considerable turmoil," he began. "But fortunately, with Rulan’s blessing, I have recovered. On top of that, the family has signed a major contract with Yaolong Group. This is our family’s good fortune. The Tang Family will surely soar to new heights in the future!"
Old Master Tang was the first to raise his glass. "The Tang Family can finally return to its former glory. Children, let us work together to make our business thrive and restore our status as a first-rate family!"
At his words, all the Tang descendants raised their glasses and echoed in agreement. Of course, Tang Chuchu and Tang Yuxiang, who were seated near Old Master Tang, were the loudest, acting as if all the family’s recent success was due to their efforts.
Qin Long slowly lifted his glass of juice, a helpless look on his face. The late matriarch’s blessing? Is that really why?
"Grandpa, speaking of the big contract with Yaolong Group, I was just reminded of something amusing..." Tang Yuxiang said, trailing off deliberately with a sly chuckle.
"What amusing thing?" Old Master Tang’s curiosity was instantly piqued.
"Someone was bragging that they would make Yaolong Group cancel its contract with our family, weren’t they? It’s been so long, yet nothing has happened. Don’t tell me I heard wrong?" Tang Yuxiang finished, putting on a puzzled expression as if he were genuinely questioning himself.
As soon as he said this, all eyes in the room fell upon Qin Long, who was, after all, the person in question.
"Exactly, Yuxiang. Some people are all talk. You can’t take them seriously," someone chimed in.
Instantly, Qin Long became the target of everyone’s ridicule. He had been thoroughly humiliated, as Yaolong Group was still cooperating closely with the Tang Family.
Qin Long frowned slightly, wiping the grease from the lamb off his mouth. I had originally planned to just have Chao Ruoying cancel the contract and pay the penalty fee myself. But that would affect Tang Xuewu. She’s the one leading this project. If the contract were terminated, how would she handle the fallout? The Tang family would surely push all the blame onto her, accusing her of incompetence for losing the major deal with Yaolong Group. I really wanted to set up an entire corporation for her, but she refused for the sake of the Tang Family. Right now, my hands are tied. I just never expected Tang Yuxiang to still use this to attack me.
After taking a sip of juice, Qin Long shot Tang Yuxiang a cold glance. "The Tang Family will only achieve glory because of Xuewu. It will only fall into ruin because of people like you, Tang Yuxiang."
Tang Yuxiang slammed his hand on the table in anger, glaring at Qin Long. "Qin Long, stop spouting nonsense! Don’t think you can talk whatever rubbish you want just because you got lucky and saved Grandpa. Am I wrong? Didn’t you boast that you’d get Yaolong Group to cancel the contract? Why has nothing happened?"
"Are you saying you want it to be true?" Qin Long countered. "What a filial grandson you are."
