Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 17 The Big Order from Yaolong Group
"What are you doing here, Tang Xuewu?" Tang Chuchu’s voice was sharp. "Is this all my credit? Does it have anything to do with you? Not a single thing!" Her harsh words left Tang Xuewu speechless.
"Yeah? Why can’t you just be a foil?" one of the Tang Family’s collateral relatives sneered. The small group ridiculed her as they walked past and entered the main hall.
Her face burning with shame, Tang Xuewu turned to leave.
"Thinking of stealing my credit? Dream on!" Tang Chuchu scoffed, waving her hand dismissively.
"Don’t be angry, Chuchu. She’s not worth it," someone said. "After all, she has to work hard to support that idiot cripple at home."
A wave of cruel laughter erupted from the group.
"Exactly! Haha!" Tang Chuchu laughed along with them before heading into the hall.
"All rise! Let us welcome the representative from the Yaolong Group!"
"We are incredibly honored by your presence." The members of the Tang Family were all extremely respectful toward the middle-aged woman who had just entered.
"Haha, you’re all too kind," the manager from the Yaolong Group said with a quick smile. "Our Madam Zhao says that anything concerning Mr. Qin is her concern as well, and she will see to it with her full effort."
"This...?" The Tang Family members were instantly abuzz. Mr. Qin? Which Mr. Qin?
"Now then, could you please ask Miss Tang Xuewu to come here?" the middle-aged woman asked earnestly, scanning the crowd. "I hope that she will be the one to sign this agreement."
Hearing this, the expressions of the Tang Family members shifted. The shareholders looked at one another in stunned surprise. They had just nastily driven Tang Xuewu away, afraid she would get involved and try to claim credit for their success. But now, the manager from the Yaolong Group was specifically asking for her to sign the contract? What the hell was going on?
Tang Yuxiang and Tang Chuchu were both furious.
"Manager Wu, Tang Xuewu is not at the headquarters," Tang Yuxiang explained with a smile. "Besides, she’s currently following up on other projects. We’ve been waiting here for you in the hall, Manager Wu. Signing with us is the same thing."
Manager Wu paused, falling into thought. Madam Zhao tasked me with finding some suitable projects to help the Tang Family profit. Qin Long didn’t specify that the agreement had to be signed with Tang Xuewu. So, as long as I help the Tang Family, the task will be complete. Since Tang Xuewu isn’t here, signing with someone else should be fine. As long as the Tang Family profits, that’s all that matters. This will count as repaying the great favor to Qin Long.
"Very well, that will work," Manager Wu said with a faint smile, tapping her chin. "Let’s sign some contracts. Please, take a look at these first."
"That’s more like it!" Tang Yuxiang was overjoyed upon hearing her words, and the heavy weight in his heart instantly lifted. He and the others had been shocked when she specifically asked for Tang Xuewu. Could the young master of the Yaolong Group have taken a fancy to her? No, it’s probably just because of her reputation as Jiangzhong’s number one beauty.
The partnership was quickly established. Since the Yaolong Group was there to repay a debt of gratitude, they made considerable concessions. If the Tang Family could successfully ride the Yaolong Group’s coattails, they would surely soar. Soon, the two parties signed the cooperation agreement in a very pleasant atmosphere.
「On the other side.」
Having completed her tasks for the day, Tang Xuewu was getting ready to go home. Nearby, other junior members of the Tang family were excitedly discussing the celebration banquet that evening. Tang Xuewu paid them no mind, hurrying to get home. She couldn’t attend banquets like that. She was ignored even at ordinary family gatherings. Besides, she couldn’t bear to be away from Qin Long.
"Well, well, if it isn’t Cousin Xuewu. What’s the big rush?" Tang Chuchu drawled, slowly approaching with a photo she had just taken with Manager Wu while signing the agreement.
"Good afternoon, Vice President Tang."
"Hello, Vice President!"
As soon as Tang Chuchu appeared, countless people rushed to greet her. Everyone knew she had just achieved something major and had been specially promoted to Vice President. Although Tang Xuewu was highly capable, she had fallen out of favor with Old Master Tang. Ever since she had insisted on taking care of Qin Long three years ago, the old man had treated her with extreme coldness, acting as if he didn’t have a granddaughter. Her status was now worlds apart from what it used to be. Today, she was merely a supervisor in a small department.
"See this? The huge contract from the Yaolong Group. I signed it!" Tang Chuchu bragged, waving the photograph as if she wanted to slap it across Tang Xuewu’s face. "Shouldn’t you be congratulating me?"
Tang Xuewu was puzzled. Although Tang Chuchu is a manager, her skills shouldn’t be at this level. How could she have landed a major contract with the Yaolong Group?
Though she didn’t quite believe it, she still smiled happily. No matter how it happened, she was happy as long as the Tang Family was doing better.
"Cousin Chuchu, you’re truly amazing. Congratulations!" she said with a sincere smile.
"Vice President Tang is so incredible! She secured the Yaolong Group’s contract with a wave of her hand!"
"Everyone knows that’s Zhao Ruoying’s company! So many people have exhausted themselves trying to get the Yaolong Group’s attention, but they all failed!"
"How can those common folk possibly compare to Vice President Tang!"
A chorus of flattery rose from the surrounding crowd.
"That’s exactly what I was thinking! Five-hundred-yuan red envelopes for everyone!" Tang Chuchu declared, scattering a handful of red banknotes into the air. She then sneered, "You all flatter me. This is the result of hard work. I’m not like some people, always leeching off the Tang Family’s blood. And what’s even more pathetic is bringing a crippled dog along to leech with them. Isn’t that right, Cousin Xuewu?"
Tang Chuchu’s beautiful eyes were filled with derision as she laughed mockingly. With her eyes turning red, Tang Xuewu turned and ran, her figure looking desolate. Behind her, the crowd burst into raucous laughter.
In truth, Tang Xuewu was very competent at her job. She just wasn’t skilled in office politics and underhanded schemes. Because she had taken in Qin Long, Old Master Tang despised her. Coupled with the malicious slander from the likes of Tang Yuxiang and Tang Chuchu, the family’s treatment of her grew colder by the day, and her talents remained buried. She used to be a deputy manager, but because of Qin Long, she was demoted to supervisor, and her salary was cut by several thousand yuan. Consequently, no one respected her.
Tang Xuewu was about to leave on her bicycle when Tang Yuxiang’s voice called out from behind her.
"What a coincidence, Sister Xuewu. I happen to be passing by the Tang residence. How about I give you a lift?" Tang Yuxiang said, honking a horn.
BEEP! BEEP!
The sound came from a brand-new, luxury Mercedes.
"No, thank you. I still need to go grocery shopping," Tang Xuewu said, giving a firm wave before getting on her bicycle.
"Honestly, Sister Xuewu, why don’t you listen to Grandma and kick that lame dog out of the house? With your looks, even if you’ve slept with him, plenty of rich young men would still marry you. Grandpa would forgive you then, too. You could reclaim everything you’ve lost in the Tang Family and live the easy life of a wealthy lady. Your annual dividends alone would be over five million yuan. Why bother riding this broken-down bicycle?"
Tang Yuxiang’s eyes were filled with contempt and malice as he spoke. He didn’t see Tang Xuewu as a cousin at all. In his eyes, she was just a worthless tramp. Why else would she insist on caring for a crippled fool, making the Tang Family the biggest laughingstock in all of Jiangzhong? It was because of this that her entire family branch had been blacklisted. They were denied all the benefits that other family members received. In fact, they earned less than an outside employee, subsisting on just a fixed salary.
