Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 23 - 24 Family Gathering
Qin Long was somewhat puzzled, as he hadn’t heard about this matter. "Was it signed personally with Xuewu?" he asked, looking at Zhao Ruoying.
"Manager Wu said he went to Tang Xuewu’s company in person, but they told him that she was busy with other projects, so they made a verbal agreement to place the order with Tang Chuchu," Zhao Ruoying explained.
Hearing this, Qin Long’s expression turned cold. No wonder Tang Chuchu and the others are so arrogant.
Seeing Qin Long’s displeased expression, Zhao Hai and the others grew extremely worried. Have we offended Young Master Qin?
"Only my fiancée, Xuewu, can sign this order. Anyone else is fucking useless," Qin Long said, his voice icy and impatient.
At his words, Zhao Ruoying trembled. He’s angry.
"Mom, what have you done?" Zhao Xiaotong cried out. She’d always been fond of Qin Long, and now she felt it was all over.
At that moment, Zhao Ruoying stood frozen, completely dumbfounded. But I was doing what I thought he wanted! I was trying to use this opportunity to win him over, wasn’t I? What on earth is going on?
She quieted down, her mind racing back to the information she had investigated. Rumor had it that Tang Xuewu was driven out of the Tang Family compound for taking in the cripple, Qin Long, and had even lost the benefits of the inner courtyard. So the woman Qin Long wants to take care of is Tang Xuewu! I finally understand. How could I have been so stupid!
"Mom, look what you’ve done! I was hoping to ask Young Master Qin to be my mentor. How can I possibly face him now?" Zhao Xiaotong fumed before running into her room.
Zhao Ruoying sighed and looked at Qin Long. "Young Master Qin, please don’t be angry," she pleaded. "I’ll take care of it right away."
Qin Long is a benefactor to the Zhao Family. If such a trivial matter ruins our friendship, it would be utterly preposterous.
"Please wait a moment. I’ll handle this immediately." Zhao Ruoying rushed out at once and made a call.
Zhao Hai stayed behind, wearing a placating smile. "Ruoying must have had a momentary lapse, Young Master Qin. Please don’t hold it against her." He personally poured tea for Qin Long as an apology.
"President Zhao, no need to be so formal. We’re friends, aren’t we?" Qin Long’s reply was intriguing.
Hearing this, Zhao Hai smiled to himself. It seems Qin Long really is a clever man.
Nearby, Zhao Ruoying was giving Manager Wu a furious dressing-down over the phone. Feeling rather ashamed, she walked back over.
"Young Master Qin, it was my failure to handle things properly," Zhao Ruoying said, bowing her head to admit her mistake. "Please rest assured, if it’s not Miss Tang Xuewu, we will not cooperate."
"Thank you," Qin Long said with a wave and a smile.
"It’s what we should do! It’s what we should do!" Zhao Ruoying nodded immediately, her face wreathed in smiles.
Qin Long drank a cup of tea as he learned about some matters in River Center. After all, having been a fool for three years, he had been completely cut off from the outside world. He knew nothing about the Southern Heavenly Dragon Army or the current situation in River Center. The Zhao Family, a colossal conglomerate in River Center, knew these matters like the back of their hand, and from them, he got a basic understanding of the situation.
It seems my senior brother, Qiu Hu, hasn’t targeted this area yet. The weight in Qin Long’s heart finally lifted. After all, I haven’t fully recovered yet. Perhaps Qiu Hu thinks I’m already dead, or maybe he just doesn’t care about my current state. Besides, he’s already achieved his goal and become a big shot in the Heavenly Dragon Army. What does my life or death matter to him now?
Qin Long swore to himself that he would make Qiu Hu pay a heavy price. The very thought filled him with murderous intent.
He maneuvered his wheelchair to leave the Zhao family’s villa.
"Young Master Qin, how is the wheelchair working out for you?" Zhao Ruoying and Zhao Hai helped Qin Long into the driver’s seat, then put the wheelchair in the back. "Should I have a new model customized for you? I heard there’s one that can navigate automatically and even has braking and acceleration features."
"That’s very thoughtful of you, but this wheelchair is fine. Besides, I’ll be able to stand on my own soon," Qin Long said, smiling at them.
Zhao Ruoying was instantly thrilled. This was the first time Qin Long had ever praised them. They hardly ever saw him smile. It seems we’ve successfully befriended this future prodigy of the Medical Immortal.
"Young Master Qin, please drive safely," Zhao Ruoying said, giving him a personal bow. "And as for the Yaolong Group’s order, I guarantee it will be handled exactly as you wish."
"Excellent." Qin Long waved, started the car, and sped away.
「That evening, at the River Center Grand Hotel.」
The Tang Family was holding an early celebration banquet. The Tang family patriarch had notified everyone from both the inner and outer courtyards to attend. Unprecedentedly, Zhang Meilan, Tang De, and Tang Xuewu’s family had also been invited.
Tang Xuewu was very excited, as her grandfather had ignored her family for nearly three years. Something incredibly important must have happened today; otherwise, he wouldn’t have invited us. Besides, the siblings Tang Chuchu and Tang Yuxiang were always fanning the flames, which made Grandfather despise our family. To demand everyone’s attendance this time... he must be about to announce something major. It wouldn’t be this grand otherwise.
Tang Xuewu and her parents finished changing and were preparing to leave when they noticed Qin Long hadn’t moved.
"Long, Grandfather said everyone must go," Tang Xuewu said gently, walking over to him. "Would you like to come with us?" Seeing how much he had changed recently, she wanted to help him. Otherwise, the others will definitely mock him.
"Of course. I was worried you might get bullied," Qin Long replied with a smile.
At his words, Tang Xuewu’s heart skipped a beat. "Just don’t cause any trouble," she said, her face flushing slightly with shyness.
"Don’t worry. As long as no one bullies you, I won’t cause any trouble," he said, smiling as he playfully tapped her nose. "Besides, I promised to protect you, and I always keep my word. Don’t you trust me?"
His sudden tenderness made her incredibly shy. "You... you..." Tang Xuewu clenched her fists nervously, her beautiful eyes darting away, unable to meet his gaze. She finally nodded. "It’s not that! I trust you!"
Qin Long gave a faint smile. "Well, there you have it," he said. "Help me out."
Tang Xuewu immediately picked up his crutch and helped him outside.
"Tang Xuewu, are you insane?" Zhang Meilan bellowed, yanking Tang Xuewu back.
"Today is our stage—mine and Xuewu’s. They’ll regret it if we don’t go," Qin Long said, pulling Tang Xuewu back to his side and staring coldly at Zhang Meilan.
"That’s hilarious!" Zhang Meilan sneered, grinding her teeth. "Saying it’s his and Xuewu’s stage? I think you’ve really lost your mind!"
"Believe it or not," Qin Long replied, not bothering to engage further.
"Qin Long, I’m going to beat you to death..." Zhang Meilan grabbed a broom to strike him, but Tang De snatched it away.
"Enough, Meilan! I don’t want to be late and get yelled at by the old man," Tang De said before storming off angrily.
With her arms crossed, Zhang Meilan muttered, "Qin Long, if you have any sense of shame, get the hell out of the Tang Family right now!"
"You think I actually enjoy being in the Tang Family?" Qin Long retorted, glaring coldly at Zhang Meilan. "If it weren’t for repaying my debt to Xuewu, I would have left long ago."
This insignificant Tang Family... whether it’s the old man or Zhang Meilan, I couldn’t care less about any of them. But Tang Xuewu is different. She saved my life, and I can’t leave her here alone. I’ll leave only when I’ve repaid her kindness or when she herself tells me to go.
"Fine! I’ll remember this beating you owe me!" Zhang Meilan stormed out in a huff.
Meanwhile, the River Center Grand Hotel, a famously luxurious venue, had been prepared for the event. The lobby was now laid with a new red carpet and festooned with lights and colorful banners. The Tang family patriarch had specially arranged it all, having booked the entire hotel.
