Heavenly Opposers-Chapter 291 - 290-Creating Tension.
"So when should we announce this towards the cosmos?"
Dravokh asked with authority in his voice while the rest of them surrounded Azrail, their eyes peering into him, trying to see past all that he hid. Azrail wasn’t one to easily fall for all this; his mind was steady as he studied the elders as they studied him.
"We need to make sure it will be with a bang, and before that, we also need to shift the legacy you hold within Olympus out here."
Seraphel spoke, her voice enough to rattle even Azrail’s soul for a moment as he looked at her, her words having the power to make the elders focus on Azrail. He could understand where they were coming from. How could the next legacy bearer of Thanatos be allowed to work under anyone, even an ancient Goddess?
’Guess they are heading the path I want.’
Azrail mused, even though they were seemingly serving him. Azrail could feel the pressure they kept on him, trying to take control of him, and he understood this was another trial given to him by Thanatos. If the man wanted, he could have easily made them fully subservient to Azrail.
But he didn’t. Thanatos wanted Azrail to lead through this, to fight it all, such that he doesn’t end up as their puppet, free to be controlled by their ambitions toward the cosmos. Now, it was time to slowly put into place the steps Azrail wanted for this world. He turned to Seraphel and spoke.
"I can understand it, and I will leave the place, but I wish to keep a sense of connection formed, to create an alliance. After all, having more power can never hurt."
His words were cool and soft as Azrail took the lead once again.
"And in the case of the announcement, I would like to keep my presence hidden for now while I work it through with Olympus."
His words did not go well in the room, as the most charming voice that shook souls spoke.
"Just what is it that you need that we can’t give?"
Nynarqa’s voice responded, and along with it came a call that seemed to seek the truth from Azrail’s most guarded secrets. It did affect him, indeed, but when it comes to the soul and its calling, not even someone like her can clutch anything from him if Azrail doesn’t want to say so.
And this resistance of his did surprise her. Her expression gave nothing to him, but her soul gave Azrail all the information he needed. Azrail leaned softly back into the chair, a very relaxed gesture filling his body, one that would look very disrespectful to the others in the room.
And as Azrail did it, he made sure to keep his eyes on everyone there, their soul emotions not being lost within his gaze, giving him all the information he could use, quickly identifying those he could use for now and those he would need to look after extra carefully.
"That is not a respectful way to go about things, young lord."

Xalvador spoke, his voice soft yet commanding. Azrail looked through them one more time, after which he started to speak.
"I could have easily proven my way into this place in many different ways, yet I didn’t. I want Olympus to work under Hera because I have my own goal to achieve, and even then, I brought pride to this faction and my master."
His words were low and controlled, but Azrail didn’t just stop with that. He added a bit of his own aura into it, using a soul voice that shifted the atmosphere. This time, Azrail saw the true shock spreading around the room as he continued.
"But that doesn’t mean I want to give up on this or the power it gives. I am proud of what I am, and even without revealing my face, I’m sure we will all be able to bring out our true desires."
Azrail took a pause, letting the words sink in, allowing everyone to understand the depths of his intent. The 13 let him be, allowing him to take the lead because they would surely like to dissect Azrail and understand the depth of his character.
"As I said when I was chosen, the Oblivion’s Embrace has slept long enough. It’s time we start to make our move; it’s time to unleash all the ambitions you were holding back in your hearts..."
The last of his words shifted the atmosphere in the room. Now, he had their focus in a different way, having established the fact that he wasn’t a fool or an inexperienced soul from a minor realm who couldn’t play with politics. The relaxed posture of Azrail disappeared as he leaned directly into the table.
His hands tapped against the table as he spoke.
"This also means I don’t have any intention of holding back any of your desires or intentions. While we might have different goals and desires to reach where we want, in the end, we all work for the same faction and share the same aim to elevate its fate and reach greater heights."
Azrail’s presence began to fill the room. His back straightened, his face still hidden within the dark of the cloak, yet his red burning eyes were visible to everyone. With them came the desire and ambition slipping from his voice. Azrail tapped into his main Qi, deep within.
To them, he still kept the deepest layer of his essence as the prince of death locked down, but for now, he summoned a small amount of authority from the core. Along with it, pure Death Qi wrapped around Azrail’s body, the purest form ever known. Everyone in the room tensed up as this happened.
These were monsters who led and won wars, yet they tensed up within the room. Followers of the laws of death, for a moment, they felt an uncontrollable authority crushing them. Of course, it didn’t frighten them; it was just Azrail momentarily taking control of the room.
His presence for a single moment matched and rose above them as he spoke.
"I don’t wish to tell you how to do your work, but I wish to rise far above where we stand. I am greedy, and with my greed comes my desire to reach the top. I understand that we won’t work together easily now, but I intend to make this place the highest among Eternity’s Requiem."
It was a bold declaration, and Azrail sensed the disdain many felt at that statement. But he wasn’t one to fall to it. All of them followed the path of death, and he had many ways to win their loyalty, creating a situation where, in the end, they would betray Thanatos and serve only him.
’Keep counting your days, for I am coming for you.’
