Heiress' Househusband is a Secret Billionaire-Chapter 299: The Winslow Couple’s Arrival
Chapter 299: The Winslow Couple’s Arrival
Came the next week, Lariette and Ruediger went through the days like usual as they waited for Friday to come. The only eventful moment for them was when they hosted Madeline for dinner.
Still, it was nothing compared to what Nathaniel faced. After all, the Faulkner and Winslow couples would fly to visit them in Velondia, marking their first gathering.
The Tuesday late afternoon sun hung low in the sky, casting warm amber hues across the tarmac of the private airstrip. The breeze was chillier, hinting at the end of autumn before winter came.
Nathaniel stood inside the arrival hall with Elsie and Lorianne at his side. Burying his hands in his coat pockets, his shoulders slightly stiff.
The family of three was waiting for the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Winslow. They flew by their private jet. As for Russell and Andrea, they were scheduled to fly from Norvonna tomorrow.
Nathaniel purposely came together with Elsie and Lorianne to welcome the Winslows. He handed the remaining tasks for today to his subordinates.
’Haa... I’m nervous.’
Stealing a glance at Elsie, Nathaniel saw how calm she was. Her cream-colored coat framed her slender figure. Her warm green eyes were locked on the approaching aircraft.
On the other hand, Lorianne bounced on her heels as she clung to Elsie’s hand, giving off the unmistakable excitement of a five-year-old.
"Mommy, will Grandpa and Grandma bring presents?" Lorianne asked, her cheeks pink from the flush of anticipation.
Elsie chuckled softly. She brushed a strand of hair from Lorianne’s little face, "Maybe, my dear. But remember, say hello to your Grandpa and Grandma first, okay? They’ve missed you so much."
"Okay! I miss Grandma and Grandpa so so much too! Also Granny and Granda!"
As Nathaniel listened to Elsie and Lorianne’s conversation, he let out a soft breath before adjusting the collar of his coat. He wasn’t sure why he was so nervous.
Mr. and Mrs. Winslow had been nothing but kind to him over the phone. They had also talked through video calls a few times already.
The Winslows thanked Nathaniel for supporting Elsie and Lorianne. They also told him how much they looked forward to meeting him and his parents.
Despite that, the thought of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Winslow in person set Nathaniel’s stomach fluttering with unease. He had a lot to thank the couple for.
After all, the Winslows had been Elsie’s family when he hadn’t been there for her. They had protected her and raised Lorianne as their own granddaughter.
Another person Nathaniel was truly indebted to was Mrs. Mathison[01]. Despite being Elsie’s former lecturer, the elderly woman came to her assistance by connecting her with the Winslows.
"Ohhh! Grandpa and Grandma are here!"
Lorianne’s exclamation pulled Nathaniel back to reality. He saw the private jet roll to a stop, and soon the stairs unfolded. He stood taller, trying to shake off his nerves.
Looking at Elsie and Lorianne, Nathaniel said, "Let’s go and greet them."
The family of three walked out of the arrival hall, heading to the outside. They saw Mr. and Mrs. Winslow emerge from the open passenger door. A gust of cold air blew past them.
Mrs. Winslow was petite and elegant, her silver hair pulled back into a neat chignon. She adorned a tailored coat in the shade of deep navy blue.
The taller and broad-shouldered Mr. Winslow had the air of a man used to commanding rooms. Still, warmth settled in his expression. He held his wife’s hand as they descended the stairs.
"Grandma! Grandpa!"
Taking her hand off Elsie’s grasp, Lorianne dashed toward the stairs. Mr. and Mrs. Winslow beamed upon seeing their adorable granddaughter, bundled in a thick coat.
"Lorrie, my darling!" Mrs. Winslow called, her voice warm with affection.
"Don’t run! You’ll trip!" Mr. Winslow echoed in concern.
Elsie and Nathaniel saw the Winslows quicken their steps to get to Lorianne. In the next moment, Mr. Winslow carried the little one before wrapping her in a tight hug, then followed by his wife.
"How have you been, my dear?" Mr. Winslow asked, unable to resist smooching Lorianne’s chubby cheeks, "You look so well! Your Grandma and I are so glad!"
"I am fine~" Lorianne chuckled, happy to be pampered by her maternal grandparents, "Hehe! That tickles!"
Elsie and Nathaniel exchanged a smile. They continued walking forward. The Winslows shifted their focus from Lorianne to the couple.
"Elsie, darling," Mrs. Winslow smiled, hugging Elsie tightly, "Oh, we’ve missed you and Lorrie so much."
"And we missed you too," Elsie returned her mother’s hug, tears welling in her eyes, "Mother, we’re happy to have you here."
Elsie hugged Mr. Winslow next before her father gave the nervous Nathaniel a firm look. Stepping forward, he extended a hand, "Nathaniel Faulkner. Nate, it’s you."
Nathaniel took the offered hand and shook it, "Yes, sir. It’s an honor to meet you and your wife."
Mr. Winslow curled his lips, "Likewise. You have a good voice over the phone, and handsome over the video, but it’s better in person."
Nathaniel chuckled softly, "Thank you."
Mrs. Winslow turned to Nathaniel, wearing a gentle smile, "Hello, Nate. Thank you for looking after Elsie and Lorrie."
"They’ve been looking after me just as much," Nathaniel said, bowed slightly, "I’m more than grateful for being allowed to be with them again."
Mr. and Mrs. Winslow exchanged a look, both showing similar contentment. It was evident they approved of Nathaniel’s relationship with their daughter.
Elsie glanced at Nathaniel, her heart bloomed with warmth. She was beyond happy because he finally had a chance to meet her parents. Although she was just an adopted daughter, the Winslows treated her like their own.
"It’ll be dark soon," Elsie chirped, reminding them of the time, "We should go now. Mother, Father, the villa is ready."
The Winslow couple would stay at their private villa on the outskirts of Avaloria City. The housekeeper and her subordinates had cleaned the entire residence to welcome them.
Elsie and Lorianne would also be with the Winslows. They had packed some belongings before coming to the airport. Nathaniel was already aware of their plan.
"Ah, yes," Mr. Winslow nodded. Tilting his chin up, he stared at the sky, "It’s getting dark faster now, huh? Winter will be here soon."
Following Elsie’s words, they moved to the waiting executive vans. The bodyguards loaded the suitcases inside another. Soon, both vehicles left the private airport.
