Hellbound With The Vampire King-Chapter 90: Warning To The Elders
The nobles turned to look at themselves, wondering what the next step is, they were suppose to convince His Majesty, King Eiravyn to reconsider his choice of making the human the queen, but now they didn’t even know who Eiravyn really planned to crown now, and the suspense to wait till the evening was making them even more disappointed and squirmy because they knew King Eircayn could do anything he pleases when he please.
It was easy for Eircayn to guess what those opposing ministers were thinking and he spoke again, "No matter what happens, I, Eiravyn Won, King of Darkshade, chose to have only one wife for as long as I live."
With this declaration, the sudden quiet and stilled room erupt with a sudden uproar and the monsters who were discussing amongst themselves that if the kings mate happened to be a human, their king would have to take in concubines, could not sit still, even the ministers who normally sided with the king were shocked and they could not sit still.
Kings and their royal harems were part of the long tradition observed by all the kingdoms in the entire continent, only one king was able to forfeit this tradition because of his love for his mate and that person was none other than Eiravyn’s father, the previous king. And he was able to do so because immediately they got married, the past queen got pregnant for Eiravyn, and since the king refused to take another wife or consorts, the ministers had nothing to tie him down.
But Eiravyn’s case was different, he was not forthcoming with them, and they felt the need to make sure Eiravyn take in as much wives and consorts as possible to secure their position in the kingdom. There might be instances where a king would have only a single queen, but he would never have a single wife. It’s impossible! Queens, consorts, concubines. This were titles that came with position as they all have different corresponding pursposes and authority.
Since the royal court could not control the young king they harbored intentions for the king to accept concubines from the noble family and pure-blooded families within the kingdom, providing them an opportunity to have a chance to aim for the throne if the concubines were to have the first offspring for the king before the queen.
"Your Majesty, you must consider your decision!" They all chorus, as if in sync all the ministers ranging from the lords of noble homes, the pure-blooded nobles and elders. They all stood up from their chairs and knelt down while bowing deeply to the king, in an attempt to persuade him.
Still bowing, Elder Wilmot, said, "Your Majesty, I know you have not yet chosen your queen, but we all can’t help but worry that you are making a hasty decision. Why not wait till you fully appointed your queen before you make this decision."
Eiravyn gaze drifted to look at all the ministers now kneeling down on the floor with their heads close to the ground almost like they were offering prayers to a supreme being. He couldn’t help the amused smile that slowly crept in his face because of how ridiculous they looked. Eiravyn could see and every one of their intentions loud and clear. They were simply asking him to delay this decision so they could come up with ideas before the next meeting date. But he knew how to get them so he didn’t worry.
Eiravyn smirked, he ran his hands slowly across the smooth plane of his throne, his expression calm and controlled, "Is that so?" He asked, each word drape with a pronounce mockery that had the ministers shivering in their current position.
"Your Majesty is still very young and health! We don’t want you making a rash decision. We only worry about you. My King!" The elderly man quickly added.
The cold voice of their king resounded inside the throne room again. "If that is what you mean then I take it that you all are pretty excited for this banquet and the revealing of my queen. If so then, I would take your word into consideration."
Some of the elders felt relieved wash over them while some that was already family with their king ever changing personality knew that they had falling for his trap again. And that person was none other than Caspian, Celrean and some other military knights.
Caspian was shaking his head on his own corner as he knew that the ministers had fallen deeper into his majesty scheme. Things were getting interesting.
Even before the ministers could take in much needed breath of relieve, Eiravyn’s voice resounded again in the royal court room, this time louder and clearer, a stark contrast to his earlier tone. "Like you said I should consider and which I already agreed to. Now, I would like to make my final declaration," he paused, his eyes flinting to look at every person in the room, whether living or dead.
He continued and said. "Now, regarding the banquet ceremony, and my soon to be queen. I have no thoughts of exercising generosity nor patience, much less mercy to anyone who would dare show even the little bit of disrespect to my queen, nor will I condone any Ill-intentions concerning my mate. Any disrespect would be considered treason to the royal family and punishable by death by decapitation. I hope there is no need for me to repeat my warning — this is a warning and should be taken as a decree from your king. Pay heed to my words.
The attendees of the royal court felt chills running down their spine at Eiravyn’s words. And they knew he meant each and every word he spoke for the aura he unleashed, this was the first the lopsided grin that always appeared on his face at serious occasions was not seen. This left them in shock as they could not help but lower their heads and frown inwardly over this blatant threat. No other king of Darkshade had ever threatened his subject like this, but Eiravyn was not other king. Even the previous king, King Tharros, could never act like this, and he was known as a tyrant before finding his mate, but Eiravyn had always acted the way he wanted to ever since he was crowned king.
The reason why the ministers could not do anything about this was because of his power-abilities that were beyond any vampire reasoning. They had planned so many incident in the past and Eiravyn had always came back victorious even while he was still a boy which is why they feared him more now that he was a fully grown man and could not be controlled, it was a pity they thought, if only they could get close to someone who could control him, they thought which was why they were hell-bent in making Lady Ava the queen.
Eiravyn looked at every one of the attendees in the room, it was almost like he could see through their thought. When he saw that they understood the gravity of his word, he turned to Caspian, who was to his left and nodded to him.
Caspian was enjoying the whole commotion when he felt his king gaze on him, he understood what ought to be done immediately, even though he was disappointed that his source of entertainment was slowly coming to an end. He loooked at the ministers and shake his head,’these rags really are fools anyways, so gullible. He thought, the result of the royal court was always predictable because of these uninteresting old hags who were as meek as lambs when they’re before Eiravyn.’ 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
With a deliberate cough, he unrolled the scroll he was holding which listed the times to be discussed in today’s court session. "For today’s discussion, the first item we would be treating is the issue of the tax increase..."
