Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!-Chapter 231: Examination
Chapter 231: Examination
The soft glow of dawn filtered through the curtains, awakening Riven. He smiled realising he was back home.
Ronan, still naked, was nestled close, his rhythmic breathing a soothing lullaby, unfortunately he had to get up.
Carefully, Riven extracted himself like it was a spy mission, ensuring not to disturb Ronan’s slumber. He stretched, feeling the pleasant ache of muscles well-used, and made his way to the washroom. The cool water refreshed him, washing away the remnants of sleep and the emotional whirlwind of the past days.
Dressed and composed, Riven stepped into the main hall. The familiar scent of the manor greeted him, mingling with the faint aroma of coffee. He spotted Troy and Eli, both still in their clothes from the previous night, their faces filled with fatigue.
"Troy," Riven called out, approaching them. "Go home. You’re technically on leave. I’m here now, it’s fine."
Troy looked up, dark circles prominent under his glasses. He managed a weak nod, gratitude evident in his eyes. "Thanks, Riven," he murmured before making his way out, his steps heavy with exhaustion.
Eli, on the other hand, seemed slightly more alert. He had taken a nap on the sofa, evident from the creases on his clothes and the tousled state of his hair. As Riven approached, Eli stood, his eyes scanning Riven from head to toe.
"Thank the stars you’re okay," Eli said, relief evident in his voice. "While alphas are more affected, that doesn’t mean their mates are not."
Riven chuckled, appreciating Eli’s concern. "After spending the night with Ronan, I feel much better."
Eli’s nose wrinkled as he sniffed, a playful grimace forming. "I hate that I’m still in yesterday’s close, I can’t even bring myself to get closer to perform a proper examination!"
Riven knew how bunnies like to be clean. He laughed, the sound echoing in the quiet hall.
Riven then gestured towards the guest rooms. "Come on, let’s get you into some fresh clothes. You can’t go around looking like a dishevelled healer."
Eli’s expression turned sheepish. "Also, I might have borrowed your shampoo. Hope you don’t mind."
"Oh? Do you want to smell like me? That’s cute." Riven smirked at Eli and enjoyed seeing the blush spread across his face in real time.
In the guest room, Riven rummaged through the wardrobe, pulling out a set of clothes. "Here, these should fit. Might be a tad big, but better than what you’re wearing."
Eli took the clothes, examining them. "Not bad. Like you said, they’re a little big, but it’s no problem!" He smiled with gratitude.
"Of course, plus also, I have great style." Riven winked.
Eli chuckled, heading to the washroom to change. Moments later, he emerged, the fresh clothes making a noticeable difference. "Much better," he declared, stretching.
Riven nodded in approval. "Now you look like a handsome bunny."
"D- Don’t call me bunny!" He was a rabbit! Bunny was a far too cutesy term for a grown adult like him!
Now that Eli was clean, rested, and no longer wearing yesterday’s wrinkled clothes, he looked—and felt—a hundred times more like himself. The sluggishness in his limbs was gone, replaced with the quiet competence that made him such a trusted healer in the first place.
He stretched his arms, rotated his shoulders, and then fixed his eyes on Riven, who was lounging casually on the arm of a nearby couch, sipping tea someone must’ve brought in. Eli narrowed his eyes. "Now that I’m not covered in sweat, wolf fur and couch fuzz, I need to do a proper check-up on you."
Riven lowered his teacup and raised a teasing brow. "Oh? You wanna get your hands on me that badly, huh?"
Eli blinked, taken aback for a split second before he controlled his expression into something neutral. "It’s a medical necessity," he said neutrally, walking over. He could never let Riven know that his teasing worked!
"Sure it is," Riven smirked, staying seated but offering Eli his arm with dramatic flair. "Start with my biceps. I’ve heard they hold a lot of suppressed emotional trauma."
Eli rolled his eyes and gave Riven a light smack on the shoulder. "I’m serious, Riven. You just spent two weeks away from your mate, transformed into your wolf form overnight, it’s a miracle you did not come down with a fever too!"
"You just want an excuse to touch me," Riven teased again, grinning like a cat. "But fine, Dr. In Denial, I’ll behave."
Eli huffed, cheeks warming slightly. "Can you not tease me for five minutes so I can check your pulse?"
"Only if you ask nicely," Riven said with a wink.
Eli gave him a flat look, but his ears were starting to turn pink.
Out of habit, Eli pressed his fingers to the side of Riven’s neck, measuring his heartbeat and feeling the pulse.
Riven stilled just enough to let him work, though his eyes sparkled mischievously the whole time.
"You’re blushing," Riven said quietly.
"I’m concentrating," Eli muttered, pretending not to hear.
"I must be contagious," Riven continued with a soft laugh. "Symptoms include flustered breathing, red face, and a sudden urge to run away."
Eli let out a dramatic sigh. "Come on now, I am just worried. You’re my only friend!" He said with his eyes turning pleading like a puppy’s eyes. An arrow went right through Riven’s heart. He would not bully this bunny anymore. If Eli’s ears were out, they would be drooping. And it would’ve been a critical hit for Riven.
"Your vitals are stable, your temperature’s even, and your energy feels... Normal. You reconnected to your mate, so you should be fine. Annoying, but fine." Eli huffed.
"You know that you love that part of me~" Riven teased again, standing up and inching closer to Eli’s face.
Eli gave him a gentle pat on the cheek. "Delusional."
They both chuckled, the lightness between them was a nice change.
For the first time since arriving back, Riven felt like he could breathe. The world hadn’t fallen apart, Ronan was healing, and his friends were still here.
Speaking of... Where was Raphael?
