So that’s how it is...

Quite convenient....

Zorat mused as he advanced further into the cave, trying as much as possible to avoid any of the mob monsters on the current level. Leveling up was interesting, and he would like to explore it further later. However, for now, he had to leave as little evidence of his tampering as possible.

Still. He came upon four more ice wolves on the way, and after killing them, he cleared the area of evidence by tossing their corpses into his spatial repertoire.

Finding a good location, just a couple of meters from the entrance of the dungeon, Zorat went to the wall in the corner, pulled out his trusty knife from his inventory, and, channeling the little bit of mental power, Zorat began transcribing the rules that governed his spatial portal movement into the floor on that corner.

The dungeon, catacomb of permafrost, has a total of one hundred levels, Zorat has heard. And that the level of the dungeon boss on the final floor can be as high as level fifty.

Every two floors of the dungeon have regular mobs at the same level, and the combined floors have a single mob boss of one level higher. That is, for the first two floors of the catacombs, there would only be level one mobs, and a single level two mob boss.

Its not usually frequented that much by seasoned adventurer parties because from the lower floors, with mobs strong enough to provide real exp for growth of an adventurer who’s pretty decent leveled, the environmental conditions become lethal to survival, and most adventurer parties die easily to mobs much weaker than them for this reason.

So, this dungeon has been converted into a training ground for newbies, and under the guidance of senior adventurers, they are not allowed to go below the first twenty floors.

Time to go to the last floor...

Zorat murmured as he straightened and looked down at the runic marking he had made on this side of the dungeon floor after a couple of hours’ work. Granting an inanimate location such intricate command for a portal intended to act passively was quite the work for the current Zorat.

Zorat moved away from the place; it was quite easy to remember, so he wasn’t worried that he might forget.

Standing in the middle of the first level of the dungeon now, Zorat’s target was to reach the final floor. He couldn’t possibly start going down by clearing level after level; that would defeat the purpose of his stealth mission.

The dungeon was the respawning kind, but it takes at least twenty-four hours to repopulate each floor.

So, Zorat is about to create a new skill on the spot for this very purpose.

At its core, the spatial manipulation technique is a non-combative ability. Though at higher levels, a lot of fun things can be done with it. But for what Zorat’s body can still bear, he would have to settle for the little things first.

Zorat concentrated as he made rapid hand movements; the intricate composition of the space rune, interweaving into a different and more streamlined chain as he did, and as the final chain snapped into place, Zorat began phasing into the ground below him.

This is Spatial Shift.

Zorat can now shift his physical form into the fabric of space around a certain area. Making him appear physically present, but he could technically move through matter, and matter can move through him.

In this state, he cannot be attacked by physical or magic attacks; only spatial attacks would work.

But it consumes quite a ton of mental power. It’s a more complex version of the portal runic chain since it effects Zorats physical body as well as the space around it, while the portal chain only affects the space around it.

Zorat plummeted down the catacombs of permafrost at ridiculous speeds; he’s also discovered something quite nifty; if he concentrates a little on the monsters here, he could see their basic constitution and level.

It is quite similar to how his Abyssal gaze authority operates, but less refined. It just shows their name and level. Still, it’s quite useful for Zorat because this tells him what level of the dungeon he is currently on.

Zorat also noticed that the lower he went, the colder it got. He soon arrived at a particular floor that looked quite different from the rest, with a chamber in the corner and with only one monster patrolling the cave.

I guess that’s the dungeon boss... hmmm .. a minotaur...

Reminds me of someone.. hehehe

It noticed Zorat and charged with all its might, attacking relentlessly with a hammer; but all the attacks phased through Zorat because he was currently in his shift state. Though Zorat knew that the state wouldn’t last much longer, he was already feeling the strain in his mind.

Zorat moves in the direction of the chamber in the corner, and seeing as he’s already drawn the agro of the boss monster, He phases into the floor, while the minotaur starts looking around, confused by where its prey had gone.

Zorat phased out of the ground inside the enclosed space in the far corner and then began work on transcribing the same runes he did at the top down here. Though this one would be the receiver, and the top one will be the transmitter.

The boss monster would regularly notice Zorat’s presence, and it would run over to attack, but Zorat would phase through again, and when the minotaur had returned to its routine of patrol, he would phase back in again. Repeating this pattern for a couple more hours before he was done with the inscriptions.

Now he can already feel the cold seeping into him, so Zorat created yet another spatial skill to hold the space around him in stasis, keeping his temperature constant. This one was passive and almost negligible in mental drain cost.

With the two runic inscriptions done, it was time to get to the final part. Sealing off the area completely, so that there’s no escape... Just like the miss’s wishes.

Hehehe.
