Help! I transmigrated to a Beast World-Chapter 71: Join My Harem
Xin Yi’s head was running like a ticking bomb. If the wolf Alpha was raised by two transmigrators, just how many others came before her?
Five? Ten? She needed answers immediately.
"System!" she hissed under her breath. "Did you KNOW about this?!"
[DING! (⊙_⊙)]
[Nope!]
[This is news to me too!]
[Very interesting news! ☆]
"Wait—" Xin Yi’s brain was working overtime now. "If you didn’t know about other transmigrators, then how—System, how did YOU even come into existence? Who made you? Where did you come from? How did this entire thing work?"
Silence.
Complete silence.
No ding. No notification. Nothing.
"System?"
Still nothing.
"SYSTEM!"
[DING! (;ŏ﹏ŏ)]
[.....]
[No comment! ☆]
"What do you MEAN no comment?!"
Sha Chen was still watching her, resting his head on his hand. The marked female was speaking to herself now, like an animal on the verge of madness. "Hmm."
She jumped. She had almost forgotten he was there.
"Mama used to do that too," he said slowly. "Mutter to herself. Talk to the air. Papa said it was a ’system’ that helped her. Though I never understood what that meant."
"Mama?" Xin Yi repeated. "You mean.....the transmigrators who raised you?"
"Yes. Lin Zhiying." His expression softened slightly. Just slightly. "She was kind. Gentle. Nothing like the females here. She would cry over small things. Laugh at strange jokes. And talk to herself constantly."
Lin Zhiying. A transmigrator named Lin Zhiying.
"And..... Papa?"
"Wang Xianmo." Now there was actual warmth in his voice. "He was strong. Smart. He taught me how to build. How to think. How to create things that did not exist in this world."
Wang Xianmo and Lin Zhiying
Two transmigrators who had come here thirty years ago. Who had built all of THIS. Who had raised a wolf king. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Xin Yi felt tears pricking her eyes again. She wasn’t alone. She had never been alone. There were others like her. Others that had been suddenly yanked from their modern world. Even if they were gone now.
Sha Chen stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor.
Then he walked around the table, straight toward her. He crouched beside her chair. His face was level with hers now, and was way too close for comfort.
Suddenly his hand came up, and stroked her face. It was a gentle touch, almost tender even.
Her heart started RACING.
What the hell?! What was happening?! Why was he—
"Oh my." His thumb traced along her cheekbone. "Your blisters are already leaving."
"What?" She looked down at her arms.
He was right! The angry red blisters were fading. Shrinking. Some had disappeared completely. The skin was still slightly pink, but smooth. Healing.
"Oh wow," she breathed. "That was quick!"
"Moonpetal lotus is very effective." He was still stroking her face. His touch was warm despite being a wolf. "You will be fully healed by tomorrow."
She should pull away. She SHOULD. But her body wouldn’t move.
"I am sorry," she blurted out. "For slapping you. Earlier. I was just—I was scared and angry and—"
"Shhh."
He stood up and pulled the chair next to her, sitting down. His eyes never left her face.
"No," he said finally.
"No what?"
"I like when my women are like that."
Xin Yi CHOKED on her rice. She coughed. Sputtered. Grabbed her cup—
He was already there, holding a glass of water to her lips. "Drink."
She drank. Gasped. Tried to breathe.
"Your WOMEN?!" she wheezed.
"Hmm. Strong. Spirited. Unafraid." His lips curved slightly, it was almost a smile. "Lin Zhiying was like that too. She would hit Papa when he said stupid things. He liked it."
"That’s—that’s not—I didn’t—" She couldn’t form a coherent sentence.
[DING! (≧▽≦)]
[Wolf Alpha likes FEISTY females!]
He leaned back in his chair, still watching her. "So. You also do not know how you got here? Just like Mama and Papa?"
She nodded weakly, still trying to recover from the choking.
"They said they woke up one day. In a forest. Confused. Lost." His expression went distant, as he was remembering. "They wandered for weeks before they found the wolf tribes. The tribes tried to kill them. Called them demons. But my birth parents—" His jaw tightened. "—they saw value. They brought Mama and Papa to raise me. To teach me their knowledge."
"And......and they taught you everything? How to build all this?"
"Yes. For twenty-five years, they taught me. Architecture. Farming. Metalwork. Medicine. Language. Mathematics." He gestured around. "Everything you see here—this is their legacy."
"What happened to them?" she asked softly.
"Old age." His voice was flat. "Humans—true humans from your world—they age differently here. Faster. Papa died first. Ten years ago. Mama followed five years later."
"I am sorry."
"Do not be. They lived full lives. They built something beautiful. They raised me well." He took a sip of his drink. "That is why we isolate ourselves. Why we kill intruders. We want to be left alone. To protect what they built. To preserve their memory."
"Oh......" Xin Yi looked down at her plate. At the steak and rice and vegetables. All things Lin Zhiying and Wang Xianmo had probably taught the wolves to make.
They had built a whole civilization.
And now it was being protected. Guarded. Hidden from the rest of the beast world.
She started eating again. The food was too good to waste. And honestly? After weeks of basic survival food, this felt like HEAVEN.
Sha Chen watched her eat, the same expression on his face.
"What is your name?" he said after a while. She looked up, mouth full of rice.
"Xin Yi......"
He nodded.
"I will let your mate and your other people go."
She swallowed quickly. "Really?!"
Relief flooded through her. Qing Lin was okay. They were all okay. They could leave. They could—
"If—" He leaned forward. His white eyes locked onto hers. "—you join my harem."
Xin Yi’s brain short-circuited.
"WHAT?!"
