Chapter 81: The Weight of Home

Why did Damien come here? There was really only one thing he could do in this situation.

"I came to spoil you," Damien said simply. As he spoke, he reached out and gently wiped the tear streaks from Leonide’s cheeks. Then, just like he used to do with his younger brother, he leaned down and gave Leonide a soft kiss on the forehead.

"That’s so strange," Leonide said, blushing slightly as he let out a soft, amused laugh.

"Now then, what should we do from here?" Damien asked.

"What do you mean?" Leonide replied, his voice curious.

Damien playfully poked Leonide’s cheek, messed up his hair, tickled his ear, and pressed his nose, while Leonide retaliated by biting his finger, tickling his stomach, and lightly pinching his cheek. They spent a while playfully tussling like that until finally, Leonide settled down, lying across Damien’s lap with his arms wrapped around his waist, his face pressed against him.

It made it really easy for Damien to pat his head.

"I was just wondering how I can help you get home peacefully. Or do you want to keep working?" Damien asked.

In response, Leonide tightened his grip around Damien’s waist, hugging him more closely.

"Althought so," Damien said with a sigh. "Honestly, if I could, I’d want to go home too."

"What do you mean?" Leonide asked, looking up with a puzzled expression.

"Wait, did you not know I’m from another world?" Damien asked, surprised.

Leonide looked up at him, shaking his head. Not only did he seem unaware that Damien was from another world, but the very concept of another world seemed to confuse him.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said that, Damien thought. But he hadn’t been explicitly told to keep it a secret, so it was probably fine.

"Well, I guess you could say... I’m like a lost child who doesn’t know how to get back home," Damien explained with a wry smile.

"Wait, I thought you were a prince from some foreign country?" Leonide asked, looking genuinely surprised.

What? That’s the rumor? Damien thought, startled. Well, it wasn’t a stretch, considering how the marquis family treated him with such care. It made sense that people would come to that conclusion.

"No, no, I’m just a regular person. Just an ordinary guy," Damien said, shaking his head. "I was lucky to have been found by Theo when I got lost."

Leonide looked at him with wide, curious eyes, as if this new revelation didn’t quite fit the image he had in his head.

"So, you don’t have to be so formal with me, okay?" Damien added. In fact, in another situation, I’d probably be the one serving you all.

"But... you’re still our master," Leonide insisted, frowning slightly, as if the thought of treating Damien any differently didn’t sit right with him.

Damien grinned and reached out to press his fingers against the crease forming between Leonide’s brows, smoothing it out. Such a serious kid, he thought.

"Well, you can act however you feel comfortable. Anyway, back to the point—since I know how it feels to want to go home, I really want to help you get back safely," Damien said.

"Can’t you go home?" Leonide asked quietly, bringing the conversation back to Damien.

He could feel the weight of the question, and it wasn’t an easy one to answer. The reality of his situation was... hard to admit.

"Yeah... it’s probably going to be difficult for me," Damien said, doing his best to smile like it didn’t bother him too much.

Hearing that, Leonide buried his face against Damien again, hugging him even tighter. Damien hadn’t cried, at least not that he realized, but it seemed Leonide understood how heavy that truth was.

"Anyway," Damien continued, gently stroking Leonide’s head, "Since you have a home to go back to, I really hope you make it there safely."

Leonide, who had started crying again, remained silent, and Damien continued to comfort him, softly patting his head until the tears subsided.

...

"Alright! Now, let’s really figure out what to do next!" Damien said cheerfully, speaking with energy to lift Leonide’s spirits after the boy had finally stopped crying.

In truth, while waiting for Leonide to calm down, an idea had begun to form in Damien’s mind.

In the end, Damien realized that what was needed was a simple, understandable reason for Leonide to quit his job, one that wouldn’t cause any problems. Fortunately—or unfortunately—he found himself in a situation where he, the person with absolute authority, and Leonide, who was bound by obligation to obey, were alone together, nearly naked, with only towels covering them.

No one else was around to witness this, and Damien remembered that Theo had even granted him permission to be unfaithful, with several people present as witnesses to that.

In other words, the setting was ripe for something scandalous to happen, should Damien choose to act on it.

"I’ve been thinking a little..." Damien said, his voice trailing off.

Leonide looked up at him with a confused expression, and in his heart, Damien silently apologized for what he was about to do.

"First, I could touch you," Damien said, his tone playful but calculated.

Without warning, Damien slipped his hand between the folds of Leonide’s towel and reached for his groin.

Startled, Leonide let out a small cry. Even if it wasn’t a scream, surely there would be some kind of outcry or resistance. His voice would echo into the bathroom, and maybe even beyond. But, for some reason, Damien was strangely confident that unless he was the one screaming, neither Theo nor Sebas would bother checking on them, even if they heard Leonide.

...And if they did come to check, well, Damien had a plan for that too. He would explain everything to them and beg for their forgiveness, getting down on his knees if he had to. He was sure that groveling would resolve the situation. Once he was forgiven, they could use Damien’s inappropriate behavior as an excuse to allow Leonide to resign without trouble.
