"Eliana seemed like a nice person."
"I’m glad you guys are getting along." Mitch said as he poured himself a glass of wine and asked his girlfriend if she wanted one.
Kayla nodded and asked, "Tell me something: what was your impression of Eliana and her husband when we had breakfast with them?"
"Zach does not look like the talking type, and the way he pays attention to his wife is actually lovely, while Eliana, I don’t really know about her. It is obvious she is more social than her husband, but I feel she is not the type to actually show her true feelings. If you ask me, the couple is a mystery, and I bet it is only them that understand themselves." Mitch said as he passed his wife a glass of wine.
"You find her pretty, don’t you?"
"Is that a trick question?"
"Tsk. I also find her pretty; in fact, after going out with her, I would say her only flaw is that she loves expensive items. When we went to the mall, the total of everything she bought was about half a million."
"So?"
"What do you mean by so? She told me that her husband was the one who paid for this trip, and this is their third week here. You know how much a vacation to this city costs; I’m sure her husband worked so hard just to get her a trip here. If she spends money so recklessly, then it could lead to an argument between them. I seriously hope she isn’t one of those women who carelessly spend their husband’s money without caring about how hard the man has worked."
Mitch frowned and replied, "And your only flaw is that you don’t know how to mind your business. Is it your money she is spending or her husband’s spending? Hope you didn’t say all this nonsense to her?"
Kayla pouted her lips and scratched her hair as she spoke softly, "I only said a little."
"Oh my goodness. Kayla!"
"What? It’s not as if I said anything wrong. I was only giving her advice."
"Eliana and Zach are not like us."
"What do you mean they are not like us?"
"Did you not notice the watch Zach was putting on during the time we had breakfast together?"
"A watch? I didn’t notice; my eyes were on Eliana’s beautiful necklace and earrings. I need to ask which thrift store she got them from. We would have talked about many things if her mother-in-law didn’t call."
"Fifteen million."
"What?"
"The watch cost about fifteen million dollars, and I doubt any of his wife’s jewelry is from thrift."
"So... you are saying they are rich?" Kayla asked in disbelief. Mitch sighed and dropped his glass of wine on the table. He brought out his phone and typed something before giving his phone to Kayla.
Kayla’s eyes widened when she read what was on Mitch’s phone and shouted, "They... they are billionaires!"
Mitch covered his ears with a frown and then collected his phone from Kayla. "Did you have to shout?"
"So they are filthy rich?"
Mitch sighed and said, "When I first saw Zach, I felt he looked so familiar, and I kept thinking on where I knew him from until it suddenly came to me. He is the one that won best business of the year and is the current CEO of Sanders Group, and his wife, Eliana Sanders, is a top model and is currently a multimillionaire. "
"A millionaire? So it wasn’t even her husband’s money she was spending but her own? I’m such an idiot, me and this big mouth of mine." Kayla said, gently giving her mouth a slap. Mitch laughed and said, "To be honest, I feel that apart from being a businessman, there is something else about Zach, and also, the way he shot those balloons without any effort makes me feel that he is good with guns." "Maybe he spent some time in the military." "Maybe. Ok love, I have to go." Mitch said, kissing Kayla on her cheek.
"Where are you going?"
"Did you forget about what I told you last night? West Yeng City is the best place for me to find an investor for my business."
"Oh, that’s true."
"I will be back soon." Mitch said and pecked her on her lips before leaving. After he left, Kayla brought out her phone and started researching the Sanders.
........
Eliana took Zach to the same local restaurant where they ate hotpot and said, "Let’s sit in the front."
Zach held his wife’s hand and said, "I don’t feel like eating right now. We recently just ate at the hotel and I’m really not in the mood for this."
Eliana smiled and said, "We didn’t come here to eat."
"Then why are we here?"
"Just sit and wait for me; I will be right back." "Eli." Zach called out with a helpless sigh as she left him. He saw her speaking to the restaurant owner and wondered what they were talking about. Apart from being known for selling the best hotpot in West Yeng City, there was a time when the restaurant entertained people with music. The restaurant had a stage where a piano sat silently, but people hardly noticed this because the lights to the stage were usually off. However, one of the things Eliana noticed the first time they came to this restaurant was the piano that silently sat in the dark, waiting for someone to make use of it, and now after speaking to the owner, she decided to fulfill its wish. The light to the stage was suddenly on, attracting all the customers that were currently in the restaurant because it had been a long time since the light to the stage was on. Apart from the light, they were also attracted to the beautiful woman in a blue dress who elegantly walked on the stage. Eliana ignored the people’s stares and directed her attention to the piano. She had expected it to be dusty, but to her surprise, it wasn’t. It was as if someone was taking care of it even though it wasn’t being played.
Eliana’s hands danced around the keys before clearing her throat, her eyes on Zach as she said, "When I was twelve, I almost drowned. I thought I was going to die, then this boy saves me, and since then I have had a terrible crush on him. After finding out who he was, I started sending him letters, and he would reply, and one day when he stopped replying, I also stopped writing, but whenever I would get reminded of him, I would write a song instead. Years later when we met again, one of the many things he taught me was how to play the piano, so today with a song that I have never shared with him and the skills of the piano he has taught me, I hope to make him feel better and change today’s memories for him." With that, Eliana began playing the piano softly before her melodious voice filled the air. Her song was about her first love, how he came into her life like magic and how he changed her life forever. She sang about how much Zach meant to her and that her biggest fear in this world was losing him.
"In every life, I will make you fall for me and forever stay by your side."
As Eliana ended her song with those lines, a rain of applause followed, and Zach stood up without saying anything. His heart overflowing with emotions he couldn’t explain and felt that he needed to express before they would burst, so without waiting to come down from the stage, he went to her. Eliana smiled when she saw him coming to her and said, "Zach...." Her lips were captured by him before she could even finish her statement. He pulled her into a deep, hungry kiss, and the crowd cheered them on.
After reducing the excitement in his heart, he slowly pulled away and said, "There will be no need to make me for you because in every lifetime, my heart will always belong to you." Eliana laughed softly and hugged him tightly. Zach’s eyes became teary as he held her in his hands and whispered, "I love you.".
The couple left the restaurant after saying goodbye to the owner, and Eliana once again thanked him for allowing her to use his piano. As they walked with their hands joined together, Eliana asked, "Have I been able to rewrite today’s memories for you?"
Zach laughed and replied, "Seventy percent, yes."
"Seventy? That means it remains thirty percent."
Zach smiled and asked, "So how many songs have you written for me?"
"A lot. It was the only way I could express my love for you when I couldn’t see you." Eliana replied and suddenly stopped walking. "What?"
"How can I completely rewrite this day? You said I have seventy percent achieved my work, so what about the thirty?"
Zach smiled and leaned in to whisper in her ear. "The thirty percent can be achieved if you let me have my way with you."
Eliana’s cheek became flushed as she replied, "You always have your way with me."
Zach pecked her cheek and replied, "This will be different. You will say yes to me, won’t you?"
"Yes."
