Chapter 116: Henry’s Regret

Sanders Group.

"The video has been sent to the police, and an arrest warrant has already been issued for Amber and Sloane." Ryan said to his brother.

Zach nodded and rested his head on the desk. He felt like both his body and soul were tired and needed at least a year of rest.

Ryan sighed and asked, "Is sister-in-law okay?"

Zach raised his head from his desk and answered, "How can she be ok? She just found out that her mother was killed by the woman who she once considered to be her mother."

"So where is she now?"

"She left early in the morning to meet Henry."

"About Henry..."

"He will rot in jail. Him, Sloane, and Amber will all rot in jail, and the Moore family will be forever remain insignificant." Zach said firmly.

........

Moore Mansion.

Eliana frowned at the way her father kept drinking but did not say anything about it.

"I’m sure you have seen it."

Henry felt the drink burn in his throat, but that did not stop him from pouring himself another glass before he said, "You mean the video of my ex-wife and daughter throwing a body in the river. Yes, Eliana, I have seen that video, and if you are here to gloat about it, know that I’m not in the mood."

"You think I came here to gloat? What’s there to gloat about? Should I gloat about the fact that my real mother’s body was thrown in the same river, or should I gloat about the fact that you couldn’t even recognize the woman you had gotten married to for years?"

Henry held his glass tightly as he heard her words, and he suddenly burst into tears, surprising Eliana.

Eliana looked away from him and cleaned the tears that had also escaped her eyes. She took in a deep breath and said, "There is no use crying now. The least you can do for me is confess your sins."

Henry kept crying, and the only word that came out of his mouth was "I’m sorry."

"I don’t need your apology. I am happy with Zach, and I can only continue to be happy if you surrender yourself to the police. Tell me, Dad, isn’t that the least you can do for me and my real mother?" Eliana said and stood up.

"Wait, Eliana." Henry said and stood up. "I know I haven’t been the best father to you, nor was I the best husband. I couldn’t even tell that the woman who came back with a baby that day wasn’t my wife. I have failed my Sloane, and the only way I see myself rectifying for my sins is to ensure I do not fail you too."

Eliana’s eyes became teary as he continued to speak.

"Give me three days. I just need three days to sort myself out, and after that, I will ensure you get your happy ending with Zach, even if I have to spend the rest of my life in jail."

"Thank you."

"But can I ask you for one thing?"

Eliana looked at her father’s teary face and immediately looked away as she asked, "Ask."

"Can I give you a hug? One last hug."

Eliana bit her lips to hold back her tears and nodded.

Henry pulled her into his arms and kept crying as he held her tighter. "I’m so sorry."

Eliana didn’t say anything. His apologies weren’t going to change her childhood. It wasn’t going to heal the trauma she had suffered in their hands; it wasn’t going to change anything.

Even as he apologized and wiped in her arms, Eliana’s heart felt numb. At this point, she only wanted to be happy, and the person who could give her that was Zachary Sanders.

Eliana pulled away from Henry and said, "I’m leaving."

"Won’t you call me Dad, one last time?"

Eliana shook her head and said, "You lost the right to be my dad a long time ago, and even you know this."

Henry smiled bitterly and watched as she felt him.

As soon as Eliana left the Moore Mansion, she got into her car and started crying. She cried with the reminder that no more will she shed a tear again because of the Moore family.

........

Grey Motel.

"Mom, the video of us throwing Nolan’s body in the river has gone viral. Everyone now sees us as murderers. What should we do now?" Amber asked, sobbing loudly.

The moment they saw that the video had gone viral, both the mother and daughter ran away from the mansion to a small motel where no one might know them.

Sloane, who was already getting irritated by her daughter’s crying, shouted, "Shut up! If all you are not going to help me with your brains, then just keep quiet. How I gave birth to a dumb idiot like you still amazes me.

Sloane froze after she said that and thought she would see a surprised look on Amber’s face, but there was nothing.

Amber noticed her gaze and asked, "Are you shocked that I am not surprised by what you said?"

"How long have you known?"

"Eight months ago."

"Was it Nina who told you?" Sloane asked with a frown.

Amber nodded softly and began narrating what happened on the day she met Nina.

"I met her in a clothing store. I felt so angry seeing her shopping for expensive clothes after ruining my life. It was obvious that she had latched on to a rich man, so I insulted her and told her how much I hated her, and then she told me everything."

"Yes, Mom, everything. She told me that you are actually my real mother; she told me how you exchanged positions with your sister and became Sloane. She told me how you paid her and asked her to go far away, but importantly, Mom, she told me how you killed your own sister and made everyone believe that it was your boyfriend who killed her."
