Her Marriage: The Night is Still Young-Chapter 6: What Blood Type Is My Son, Really?
Josephine Thompson’s nose tingled with sourness, and her eyes became moist.
But she didn’t want to worry her grandfather and forced back her tears.
"...I’ll bring Henny to visit you another day."
Even though she said that.
But since the child was born, Grandpa barely had a chance to see him.
The child wasn’t close to her, let alone his grandfather.
Master Thompson sighed after hearing this, "Ah~, I had hoped you’d get married early and have a child early. But now? I’ve barely seen the child a few times."
"Josephine, hurry up and have a second child! Grandpa discussed this with the Gallagher Family before, you and Nathaniel would have two children after marriage, one with the Gallagher surname, and one with the Thornton surname."
"Grandpa..." Josephine hesitated to speak.
She wanted to tell Grandpa about the divorce.
But looking at Grandpa’s white hair, the deeper wrinkles on his face, and his slightly hunched back.
She held back from saying anything.
The old man looked at her in surprise, "What’s wrong? Did something happen?"
Josephine forced a smile, "Nothing, just missed you, Grandpa."
"You child."
"Grandpa is cooking personally today, making stewed fish and spicy noodles for you."
"Thank you, Grandpa."
At dinner time.
The old man personally cooked, making a few of his specialty dishes.
Every time his granddaughter came back.
The little old man would personally cook the home-cooked meals his granddaughter loved as a child.
"This fish was caught by Grandpa at the seaside this morning, hurry and try it. The fish were biting well today, caught a few groupers."
"And this chicken, Grandpa personally raised it, reserved especially to nourish you."
After retiring, the old man loved fishing and gardening.
The Thornton Family’s ten or so large antiquarian markets, as well as the Rosewood Museum and other industries, were all handed over to his granddaughter to manage.
Only when she encountered unsolvable problems would the old man personally step in to resolve them.
"Grandpa’s cooking is getting better and better." Josephine ate with great relish, trying not to let Grandpa see her concerns.
After all, the divorce wasn’t finalized yet.
The issue with Henny’s blood type wasn’t clarified either.
Better not to tell Grandpa yet.
...
At 9 in the evening.
Josephine returned to her room, took a shower, and prepared to sleep.
Her phone was unusually quiet.
The whole day, Nathaniel Gallagher hadn’t contacted her.
He might have been busy accompanying Vivian Shaw, not even realizing she didn’t come home.
It was not until midnight.
"Beep beep beep."
Nathaniel Gallagher finally called.
Despite her anger, Josephine picked up, "Hello..."
On the other end.
Nathaniel’s voice was especially cold, "Josephine, where are you?"
"I’m at Grandpa’s."
Nathaniel’s tone sank, with impatience, "What are you trying to pull this time?"
Josephine exhaled heavily, said coldly, "Nathaniel Gallagher, let’s get a divorce!"
Hearing this, Nathaniel’s tone grew more impatient, "Can’t you stop making a fuss over nothing?"
"Every time Vivian comes over, you throw a fit. Can’t you tolerate her at all?"
Josephine wasn’t in the mood for jealousy, she only wanted to clear up her doubts, "Nathaniel, I want to ask you something, what is Henny’s blood type?"
"You told me before he was blood type O, is he really blood type O?"
"..." Nathaniel was momentarily stunned.
Even before his son was born, he had hired a professional childcare team.
So when his son was born, he was immediately taken to be cared for by a team of more than ten people.
She had also gone to the hospital on a whim yesterday and inadvertently learned that their son wasn’t type O blood.
"And, did you and Vivian ever date before? You’ve always said she’s your god-sister, but actually, she was your first love, wasn’t she?"
Nathaniel choked, did not deny.
After nearly a minute of silence, he said sullenly, "Can’t you stop asking such pointless questions?"
Josephine coldly pressed on, "Please answer me!"
"You’re crazy, think whatever you want!"
"If you don’t want to come back, then don’t ever come back." Nathaniel shouted angrily and hung up the phone in a fit.
Josephine trembled internally, feeling a mix of emotions.
No wonder people say that a man usually shows his true self only after you have a child with him.
His previous aristocratic elegance, gentleness, and consideration were all fake. After she had the child, his dismissiveness and impatience were his true nature.
"Since the marriage has changed in essence, there’s really nothing worth holding onto. If he doesn’t care, why should you?"
...
At eight in the morning.
The first thing Josephine did after waking up was call her lawyer to inquire about the divorce.
After listening to her requests, Lawyer Kane advised, "President Thompson, my suggestion would be to first pursue an amicable divorce."
"If you go for a litigious divorce, seeing as President Gallagher has neither domestically abused nor committed substantial infidelity, and without major faults in the marriage, if he doesn’t agree to the divorce, the first trial likely won’t grant it."
Josephine’s heart sank after hearing this, "Will I have a good chance of securing custody of the child?"
Lawyer Kane: "If both sides have similar financial standings, then custody of a child under three is usually granted to the mother."
"However, for children over three, the court prioritizes the child’s preference. Besides these, they will consider which parent can provide a better living and educational environment for the child."
Josephine gripped her phone tightly, her thoughts in disarray.
"Okay, I understand. I’ll contact you if I decide on a litigious divorce."
"Alright, President Thompson."
After hanging up.
Josephine felt increasingly restless.
The current situation was very unfavorable for her; if she insisted on the divorce, her son might end up with Nathaniel.
However, before the divorce, she had to clarify her doubts first.
Picking up the phone, she dialed Auntie Linton directly.
"Beep beep beep!"
Auntie Linton answered quickly, "Hello, Miss."
"Is Henny at home?"
Auntie Linton said, "The kindergarten gave a holiday yesterday, so the young master went to the old house this morning. He probably won’t be back for a few days."
Every time Henry Gallagher had a holiday, he returned to the old house to accompany his grandmother, reducing the time she had with the child.
She suddenly realized, was her husband and mother-in-law intentionally making her distant from her son?
Did Nathaniel Gallagher marry her on a whim just to have a child?
"Alright, I understand. Call me when Henny gets back."
"Okay, Miss."
"Also, have you packed the luggage I asked you to?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Auntie Linton asked worriedly, "Miss, are you really leaving? Does the old master know about this?"
"Stop asking so much, just pack the luggage first!"
"...Alright then."
In the following days.
They began a cold war.
She didn’t go home, and Nathaniel Gallagher never sought her out.
...
On Friday.
After work, Josephine habitually opened her social media.
On her feed, Vivian Shaw had posted several updates in a row.
Each update was a nine-picture grid.
In the photos.
Nathaniel Gallagher and she wore matching outfits, photographed with Henry Gallagher at various amusement parks and high-end restaurants.
Anyone who saw it would think they were a warm and happy family of three.
What broke her heart even more was the addendum of intimate photos of her mother-in-law and Vivian Shaw.
Clearly.
Her mother-in-law also tacitly approved of the ambiguous relationship between Nathaniel and Vivian.
