Hero or Villain, Both-Chapter 68: Verdant Forest (3)
Chapter 68: Verdant Forest (3)
That was the first thing that was asked by the chief and it was clear who this question was for.
After all, everyone in the room turned to look at me after she asked this.
I didn’t say anything even though everyone in the room was looking at me.
I just calmly observed the expressions that they looked at me with.
Most of them seemed like they were positive, with some even looking hopeful about the answer that I would give.
After watching them for a bit like this, I finally said, "Well, I think that it would be fine to stay here for a bit. However, I’m someone that likes being free and wandering around, so it isn’t as if I would stay here forever."
There were some disappointed looks and there were some understanding looks.
The ones that seemed the most disappointed were Nimue and Rania, but I chose to act like I didn’t see this.
Instead, I was waiting to see what the reaction of the chief would be since she had a deadpan expression the entire time.
A long silence lingered in the air before she finally said, "I see, I see."
With a smile, the chief suddenly said, "You really embody the spirit of a high elf. There’s nothing else that needs to be said, you’re free to stay here and learn from the rest of us for as long as you want and you’re free to leave whenever you want."
"Thank you." I said with a calm nod, making sure not to look in the direction of Nimue and Rania who seemed to be looking at me with puppy dog eyes. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Once that was settled, they finally started treating me like a proper guest.
Before this, they didn’t actually treat me like that even though they had respect for me.
The main difference was that they were finally introducing themselves to me instead of holding back.
Of course, the main reason that they held back was because of the chief of the Verdant Forest.
It was clear by the way that everyone looked at her that she was someone that was respected by all of them.
"By the way, my name is Qilynn Waterthorn. I’m the chief of the Verdant Forest here." She introduced herself in a very casual manner, almost as if she was introducing herself to a new friend.
Though I already knew her name before she even introduced herself.
Her character in the game was just that famous.
But the moment that she introduced herself and showed her stance, that was when the other elders started introducing themselves as well.
Though they were elders, they didn’t really act like it.
They were casual and relaxed just like Qilynn had been, introducing themselves as if they were meeting a new friend.
This certainly was a lot better than the atmosphere that the other avatars had encountered.
This introduction session only lasted for a bit before Qilynn suddenly interrupted it.
"Alright, now that that’s out of the way, let’s take you somewhere special. It’s the place that all high elves should visit once."
She stood up and walked out of the room as soon as her voice fell. It was as if she didn’t plan on waiting at all to see if we were even following her.
But I could already guess where we were going and it was the place that I wanted to visit as well. In fact, it was the reason why I had come to the Verdant Forest in the first place.
After leaving this large tree, we went to a place that was outside of the elven settlement.
In fact, it seemed like this was a place that was completely in the middle of nowhere.
But to those that were sensitive enough, they would be able to tell that there was a strange feeling that was in this area. That was all because of the concentration of nature energy that was in the air.
This was something that only those that had nature energy in them would be able to tell apart from other energy.
If it was anyone else, they would just feel that this place was filled with life and nothing more.
As soon as I felt this, I started looking around for the source of this nature energy.
I knew that there was only one thing that could release this kind of nature energy to the point that it would fill the air like this. But as far as I could tell, it didn’t seem like there was anything different about this place.
"It’s not here, it’s further in." Qilynn suddenly said when she saw the look on my face, but that just made me even more confused.
After all, the Tree of Life was supposed to be a towering tree...or at least that was what it was supposed to be like in the game.
The game did show the Tree of Life, but it never showed how to reach the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life was always found on a special map that was cut off from the rest of the world and could only be accessed on certain occasions.
It was one of those special instance zones that one couldn’t access normally.
Or else I wouldn’t have had to go through all of this trouble to reach it.
After walking for a bit further, Qilynn and the other elders suddenly stopped.
Only it didn’t seem like we were here either since there was nothing special about this place. The only thing that seemed a bit out of place was the cave that was on the side.
"Is it underground?" I couldn’t help thinking to myself.
That would make sense since it would be hard to hide a tree as big as the Tree of Life above ground.
But in the end, it turned out that I was wrong.
Instead, they all gathered around a single tree that was on the side of this place and it seemed like they were gathering their mana to do something.
