Chapter 71: Verdant Forest (6)

Of course, he also didn’t wait for an answer from us as the staff in his hand suddenly started to glow with the same green light that Qilynn and the others used previously on that tree.

The moment that this staff was covered in this green light, there seemed to be some kind of resonance that came from the Tree of Life as well.

We looked up to see that the leaves of the Tree of Life were swaying even though there wasn’t any wind at all.

As the leaves of the Tree of Life swayed, it seemed like there was a glow that was slowly appearing around the leaves. It was almost as if by swaying, the leaves were drawing out some kind of power that was hidden inside of them.

It didn’t take long for a layer of green light to appear around a large patch of the leaves and it seemed to be growing bigger and bigger as the leaves continued to sway. It was as if whatever this represented was gathering more and more energy inside of the leaves.

After a while, the green light seemed to fall just like leaves that were falling from a tree.

These specks of green light fell down right over us.

I could feel the sensation that was coming from these green specks, but it wasn’t a feeling that I rejected. Rather, it was almost like there was some kind of familiar feeling that was coming from these green specks.

It was as if there was something about these green specks that was calling me to them.

As this happened, I could feel the hands that had been on my sleeves letting go.

I knew that they were fascinated by the green specks that were falling as well even without turning to look at them.

After these green specks fell down, they seemed to completely surround us.

As more and more of these green specks fell, it seemed that they were coming together to form some kind of dome around us.

That was when Nimue and Rania started to panic.

They didn’t know what this dome of green light was, but they didn’t think that being surrounded by it was a good thing. Even if this green light gave off a feeling that they wanted to get closer to, it was still bad if they were completely surrounded.

But before they could make a rash move, Qilynn said, "This is fine, this is just the baptism from the Tree of Life. All of this is the energy of the Tree of Life that you will have to absorb to become mature high elves."

"That’s right. Don’t resist or else it’ll stunt your growth." Umero gave a reminder as well.

When these two spoke, it seemed like the two of them were a bit more restrained.

However, it was clear by the look in their eyes that they were still worried about the fact that they were being surrounded in a dome of this green light.

"It seems like he doesn’t have any fear at all. I guess that’s just how it is for someone that has far more experience."

"Right, he’s traveled across the continent as a mercenary, so he’s seen far more things than those two girls who’ve been living in an elven village this entire time."

"It’s like the difference between someone that’s grown up in a city compared to in the countryside."

The high elves seemed to be leisurely chatting about what was happening.

It was as if they weren’t worried at all about what they were seeing, but that was because they knew what the situation was in the first place.

They knew that there was nothing to worry about since they had already gone through this before.

As for the person that they were chatting about, it was naturally me.

Of course, it wasn’t for the reason that they stated that I wasn’t worried at all.

Rather, it was all because I already knew what was happening that I was completely relaxed.

This was something that I had already experienced once before.

Though experiencing it now in person was definitely a different experience.

Experiencing something behind a screen versus experiencing something in person definitely had a completely different feel to it.

I watched as the dome completely formed around me and I was cut off from the rest of the world.

But I didn’t panic seeing this since I knew that this was where the show would begin.

Nature was filled with different forms of natural energy and those natural energy was what formed the very flow of the world. Flames gave birth to heat to warm life, water sustained life, wind brought life to other places, and earth gave birth to more life.

Everything was necessary for the balance of the world.

However, it wasn’t as if this elemental energy didn’t have a will.

After enough elemental energy gathered, it would come together and give birth to a spirit.

Since the Tree of Life was filled with nature energy, it was only natural that it would attract spirits to it.

The moment that this dome fully formed, there were some small specks that appeared all around me. These were small specks of light at first, but they continued to grow until they became balls of light.

It was a bit bright to look at, but I was able to see the true identity of these balls of light.

"Now, let’s see which one of them is willing to follow me." I said with a faint smile on my face as I looked at the different balls of light around me.

These balls of light were spirits that had been formed with the power of the Tree of Life.

The baptism that the high elves underwent under the Tree of Life was a baptism that allowed them to form a contract with a spirit.

It was the way for high elves to learn spiritual magic, which was their specialty.

And that was why I came here in the first place.
