High-Martial World: System Arrives 30 Years Late-Chapter 217 - 188: Su Mu’s Honest Words Offend, Rivers of Blood Flow (Part 3)
Piles of broken crossbow arrows littered the ground.
The next second, an extremely furious roar erupted from the mouth of the Fire Flood Dragon.
The immense body of the Fire Flood Dragon, nearly twenty meters long, suddenly whipped around, sending the crossbow arrows embedded in its skin shooting out.
Splurt.
With a few consecutive sounds, several unlucky souls in the shrubs were blasted into lumps of flesh by the arrows.
Boom!
With another loud bang, the specially made alloy cage was instantly cut through by the Fire Flood Dragon’s sharp tail, freeing the fierce beast from its predicament.
"Leader... any more traps left?"
The answer came as a painful scream. The Fire Flood Dragon, now in a rage, moved with astonishing speed, quickly closing in on a trap.
Zhou Lie felt the Fire Flood Dragon approaching, and although he was terrified, as a Sixth Level Martial Artist, he was no pushover like those in the Blood Wolf Hunting Corps.
Instantly, he let out a furious roar, a blood-red lotus bloomed above his head, sword momentum soared to the sky, and the long saber in his hand was unsheathed in an instant.
"Such powerful Qi and Blood... that’s the Qi Blood Flower of a Sixth Level Martial Artist!"
"That’s sword momentum. The Fire Flood Dragon is just a Sixth Level Fierce Beast; we still have a fighting chance." With renewed confidence, many drew their weapons.
Channeling the full force of sword momentum and Qi Blood Flower, a massive strike landed on the Fire Flood Dragon.
Clang!
At the moment the saber collided with the Fire Flood Dragon, Zhou Lie’s expression changed dramatically. It felt like he had struck a massive mountain made of metal, and the blade couldn’t penetrate.
The powerful recoil cracked Zhou Lie’s grip, his right arm unable to withstand the tremendous force, emitting a sound of frail bones fracturing.
Even more despairing to Zhou Lie was that his all-out strike only left a shallow mark on the dragon’s scales.
"It’s a monster, it’s just a monster, run!"
Zhou Lie’s heart trembled violently; he finally realized this Fire Flood Dragon was a creature beyond their hunting capabilities. He turned to flee, but although his strike hadn’t wounded the dragon, it incited its fury further, and it lunged with bared fangs.
"No, Leader, save me, save..."
Splurt, sharp dragon teeth pierced flesh and bone, and a Sixth Level Martial Artist perished.
"A Sixth Level Martial Artist died just like that?"
"Killed in an instant, the moment they met?!"
The air was filled with the sound of gasps, faces masked in terror. In that instant, everyone recalled Su Mu’s stern warning in their ears.
But it was all too late.
The enraged Fire Flood Dragon was now bloodshot with fury; it hadn’t been harmed in so long. All must die!
In an instant, everyone felt the temperature around them soaring; the Spiritual Qi flowed towards the Fire Flood Dragon, and suddenly, a raging Sea of Fire rose behind it.
"It’s channeling the Power of Heaven and Earth... this creature has one foot into the Grandmaster realm!"
The one-eyed burly man watched in disbelief as his comrades perished brutally before him, yet he had no thought of vengeance, only wanting to escape.
Screams and desperate cries of despair composed the melody of slaughter, a feast of carnage began, flames engulfed everything, and finally, all movement ceased. The marshland was a river of blood, silently flowing, staining the periphery of the swamp red.
...
Elsewhere, Su Mu arrived at the Crescent Ice Lake, walking around the perimeter of the lake.
"That’s right, it’s at the bottom of the lake."
The water was bone-chilling, so much so that even a Sixth Level Martial Artist wouldn’t dare easily try to enter Crescent Ice Lake, but Su Mu confidently leaped into the lake.
"Refreshing!"
The icy lake water brimmed with incredible coldness; as it entered Su Mu’s body, the thick Qi and Blood within him immediately dispersed it, turning it into wisps of white smoke that exited his body.
Even Su Mu was surprised; he had intended to employ the Fixed Star Body Refining Technique, but it seemed unnecessary.
Following the guidance of the Golden Essence Qi, Su Mu was amazed to discover a massive cave at the bottom of the lake.
"It’s in there, let’s take a look!"
Deep within the cave, Su Mu sprang forth from the icy lake water and found that the cave at the bottom of the lake had a hidden grotto with natural features.
At the center of the massive grotto was a giant Fierce Beast Egg, intertwined with red and blue, nearly half as tall as a person. The fox egg Su Mu obtained earlier was insignificant by comparison.
This enormous Fierce Beast Egg emitted terrifying waves of Qi and Blood; even though it was unhatched, it already surpassed many Sixth Level Martial Artists.
Behind the striking Fierce Beast Egg, a mountain of weapons, Spirit Stones, various gems, and rare metals glistened. He noticed signs of these items being recently moved, with some weapons still stained with fresh blood.
Surveying the scene, Su Mu formed a vague guess.
It seemed he had found the Fire Flood Dragon’s lair, a Flood Dragon’s Nest.
