His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 42: A Beast
Chapter 42 - A Beast
Chapter 42- A beast
Beatrice POV
My fist connected with his face before I even thought twice about it. The impact sent a shockwave up my arm, but I didn't care. The pain he felt—if he even felt pain at all—was nowhere close to what he had put me through. His head snapped to the side, but he didn't stagger. Instead, he turned back to me, his jaw tightening as his cold eyes bore into mine.
I didn't give him a chance to speak before I let out all the rage, fear, and betrayal that had been boiling inside me.
"You jerk! You bastard!" My voice cracked, but I didn't care. "You couldn't even keep your promise!"
Declan remained silent, watching me with an unreadable expression. It only fueled my fury.
"You told me you'd take me somewhere safe!" I continued, my chest rising and falling with each angry breath. "You looked me in the eyes and assured me I'd be protected! But the moment you and Tyler left, you ordered your useless guards to take me back home, didn't you? You left me there, helpless! I was kidnapped, Declan! Do you know what that was like?!"
His lips curled into something that wasn't quite a smile. "At least you were saved," he said casually. "You should be grateful you made it out alive."
Grateful? Grateful?!

The sheer audacity of his words made my hands shake. "This is all you have to say?" My voice dropped, but the anger in it remained sharp as a blade. "After everything I went through, this is all you have to say to me?"
Declan shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "What do you expect me to do? Fall at your feet and beg for forgiveness?" His voice dripped with amusement.
"You should at least pretend to feel sorry!" I snapped.
"You're lucky I even let you live, Beatrice." His voice turned cold. "If it were up to me, I would have left you there to rot. In fact, it was a dream come true—the perfect way to get rid of you. But, unfortunately for me, Tyler just had to overhear my guards talking about your little... situation." He let out a mocking sigh. "If it weren't for him, you'd be dead right now."
My stomach twisted, and I clenched my fists. "So you really would've left me there? Just like that?"
He scoffed. "Why wouldn't I? Do you really think I came to rescue you out of the kindness of my heart?" He laughed. "Please, Beatrice. You're not even worth lifting a finger for. When I heard you were gone, I wanted to celebrate. But Tyler wouldn't let me. He was so insistent on saving you. It's pathetic, really."
I couldn't breathe. I knew Declan hated me, but to hear him say it so... plainly?
I didn't think. I just acted. My hand flew up, ready to slap him across his smug, heartless face—but he caught my wrist mid-air.
His grip was like iron. He twisted my arm slightly, not enough to break it, but enough to make me wince.
"I let you punch me twice," he said in a deadly whisper, "but don't mistake that for weakness. Try it again, and you'll lose those pretty hands of yours."
I struggled, but he only squeezed harder, his fingers pressing into my skin like a vice. Pain shot through my wrist, and I let out a small groan before he finally let me go. My arm fell to my side, throbbing.
He straightened his suit like nothing had happened. "My men will take you to an apartment to clean up. Tyler is waiting for you at the wedding."
I stiffened. "I'm not going."
Declan sighed, shaking his head. "You still think you have a choice, don't you?" He took a step closer, towering over me. "This isn't up for debate, darling. You will get in that apartment , clean yourself up, and go meet Tyler. And you will not tell him what happened to you."
I frowned. "You want me to lie to him?"
"Call it whatever you want," he said with a smirk. "But if you tell him you were kidnapped, if you tell him anything that paints me in a bad light, I will make sure you never see him again. Do you understand?"
I swallowed hard. "You actually care what he thinks about you, don't you?"
His smirk faded.
I saw it then—the fear beneath all that arrogance. He needed Tyler to see him in a certain way. I could use that.
"What if I tell him everything?" I threatened. "What if I tell him you were the reason I got kidnapped in the first place? That you broke your promise? That you left me for dead?"
Declan let out a low, cruel laugh. "You can't be this stupid, Beatrice."
I stiffened.
"You think you have the upper hand? You think one word to Tyler will change anything?" He leaned in, his voice lowering. "One mistake from you will cost you your life. So go ahead. Tell him. But if you do, I'll make sure you disappear forever. And don't think for a second that Tyler will figure out the truth."
I swallowed, but he wasn't done.
"I can wait. I can let things settle down, let you think you're safe. And then, months later, I'll make sure you die in a tragic accident. Something simple. A car crash, maybe. And Tyler? He'll believe it. He'll mourn you, but he'll never suspect me. And just like that... you'll be gone."
A shiver ran down my spine.
Declan smiled. "Your life is in my hands, Beatrice. I can take it anytime I want."
I gritted my teeth, my entire body trembling with rage and fear.
He sighed, pulling out his phone. "I'll be sending you a million dollars," he said casually. "Enough for you to quit your pathetic job and start a new life. You can take care of Tyler better. Make him happy. Because soon... I'll take him from you."
The car came to a stop.
Declan stepped out, fixing his suit like nothing had happened.
I sat there, frozen, unable to move, unable to think.
I had always known Declan was cruel, but now?
Now I knew just how much of a monster he really was.
