His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 53: Caught II
Chapter 53 - Caught II
Chapter 53 - Caught II
Tyler's POV
For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.
What the fuck just happened?
How did he find out?
My entire body went cold, my pulse hammering in my ears as I stared at Declan, my so-called father, standing in front of me. His dark eyes burned with rage, his posture rigid like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
I forced myself to stay calm, but my hands clenched at my sides. This wasn't good. If he even suspected that Mom and I were planning to escape, he wouldn't let it go. He would push and push until he got the answer he wanted—until he had us both under his control again.
No.
That wasn't going to happen.
Swallowing down my initial panic, I met his gaze head-on. "I don't understand what you're talking about."
Declan's nostrils flared, his jaw tightening. "What don't you understand, Tyler? Or are you suddenly too dumb to grasp the situation?" His voice was like a whip, sharp and scathing.
I refused to flinch. If I showed even an ounce of weakness, he would pounce on it.
"You know, Declan," I said, keeping my voice steady, "if you want to make a point, do it without screaming like a lunatic. First of all, even if we were planning to leave, how the hell is that any of your business? Second, why would you even believe such a ridiculous thing? What proof do you have?"
Silence.
I pressed on. "You just decided to wake up today and bang on my door like a psycho, making accusations with zero evidence. Next time, at least make sure you have your facts straight before making a fool of yourself."
His face twisted in fury, but I didn't give him a chance to respond. I slammed the door shut in his face, my heart racing as I locked it.
The moment I was alone, I let out a slow breath.
Shit.
How did he find out?
We hadn't even started planning for a full twenty-four hours, and he was already on to us. That was bad—really bad.
I had denied everything, but the real problem was Mom. She wasn't like me. She couldn't lie without cracking under pressure, especially when Declan used me against her. And he would—I knew that much. He would threaten, manipulate, do whatever it took to keep us from escaping.
I needed to warn her.
I turned toward my bed, where Logan was still curled up, sleeping soundly. I hesitated. If I moved too much, I might wake him up. Logan was annoyingly perceptive, and the last thing I needed right now was his nosy ass asking questions.
But I couldn't wait.
Moving as quietly as possible, I slipped out of bed and grabbed the burner phone from my backpack. My fingers shook as I powered it on.
Thank God I left it on silent.
As soon as the screen lit up, I began typing.
Don't believe anything Declan says. If he threatens you, stand your ground. He has nothing on us. No matter what proof he claims to have, don't fall for it. He can't do anything to me. Just hold your ground.
I was about to hit send when a terrifying realization struck me.
Shit.
I couldn't send this to her normal phone. It was probably tapped.
I clenched my jaw, cursing under my breath. How the hell did I not think of that earlier? I needed another way.
Quickly, I scrolled through the contacts on the burner phone, my heart pounding. Relief flooded me when I found a single saved number.
My mom had given me this phone, so I knew it had to be a secure line.
I retyped the message and hit send.
The moment it went through, I let out a breath and turned toward the bathroom door, ready to leave.
Then I froze.
Because standing in the doorway, watching me with a very amused expression, was Logan.
"You scream like a girl," he said, smirking.
I flinched so hard I almost dropped my phone. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest.
"Jesus Christ, Logan!" I clutched my chest, glaring at him. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
Logan just leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest. "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? What are you hiding?"
Panic shot through me.
He had been watching me.
And knowing Logan, there was no way in hell he was going to let this go.
"I'm not hiding anything," I said quickly. Too quickly.
Logan's smirk widened. "Liar."
He took a slow step closer, his eyes flicking between me and the phone in my hand.
"You suck at lying, Tyler," he mused. "If you weren't hiding something, I'd have believed you by now."
I scoffed, shoving the phone into my pocket. "Then why haven't you?"
"Good question," he said.
Then, before I could react, he leaned in and licked the shell of my ear.
I shuddered.
Fucking hell.
Heat shot straight down my spine, and I clenched my fists, desperately trying to suppress the moan that threatened to escape. Logan was way too good at this.
But not this time.
I wasn't falling for it.
"I'm not falling for this," I muttered, pushing him away.
Logan chuckled. "Are you sure?"
Before I could blink, his hands grabbed my face, and his lips crashed against mine.
I barely had time to react before my body betrayed me, responding instinctively. His lips were hot and demanding, his tongue teasing at the seam of my mouth, and I hated how quickly I parted for him.
Heat coiled in my stomach, my grip tightening on his shirt as I pulled him closer.
I hated this.
I hated how much I wanted this.
Logan deepened the kiss, one hand sliding into my hair, tugging slightly. I gasped against his lips, and his smirk pressed against my mouth.
And then—just as suddenly as he started—he pulled away.
His smirk was lazy. Amused. Triumphant.
"I knew you were hiding something," he murmured.
I blinked, still dazed. "What?"
Then I saw it.
In his hand.
My burner phone.
My stomach dropped.
"You son of a bitch," I breathed.
Logan grinned. "Took you long enough to notice."
I lunged for the phone, but he held it above his head, laughing.
"Logan, give it back!"
"Nope."
"That phone isn't—"
Before I could finish, the door slammed open.
Declan stood there, his eyes burning with rage.
Logan and I froze.

"Tyler," Declan said, his voice deadly calm. "Where is the phone you used to contact your mother about the escape?"
My breath caught in my throat.
Fuck.
