Chapter 58- Threatened

Logan's POV

I couldn't stop pacing. My feet moved restlessly across the room, my hands running through my hair as frustration coiled in my gut.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into?

My fists clenched as I exhaled sharply. Why the hell did I ever trust Declan?

But deep down, I already knew the answer.

He had promised me the one thing I had always craved. He had dangled my greatest weakness in front of me, and like a fool, I had taken the bait.

Now, I was stuck.

I barely had time to process everything when the door burst open.

Declan.

The sight of him alone sent a shiver down my spine. I had seen that look on his face before—a smile that wasn't really a smile. It was a warning. A silent threat wrapped in false pleasantries.

"Logan, son," he greeted, stepping into the room as if he owned it. "I trust you have good news for me."

That one sentence made my blood boil. The audacity. The sheer arrogance.

For a second, I wanted nothing more than to walk up to him and choke the life out of him. But I knew better.

I kept my expression blank. "What do you mean?" I asked, feigning ignorance.

Declan's smile didn't waver, but his eyes darkened. "I know you know exactly what I mean."

I folded my arms across my chest. "I don't. And I'd appreciate it if you explained yourself, because I have more important things to do."

His jaw twitched. He didn't like that.

I saw the subtle shift in his stance, the barely noticeable tension in his shoulders. He was getting pissed, and honestly?

I didn't care.

Whatever power he had over me was gone.

Declan let out a cold chuckle. "I guess you're playing games with me." He took a step closer, his voice lowering. "So let me give you a piece of advice, Logan. I'm not someone you want to play with. One wrong move, and you might find yourself missing a finger."

I stiffened.

He wasn't bluffing. Declan wasn't the kind of man who made empty threats.

But I forced myself to stand my ground. "You think that scares me?" I scoffed. "My father would tear you apart if you laid a hand on me, and we both know it."

Declan's smile twitched, but he didn't argue.

Smart man.

"Now, if you don't have anything useful to say, I'd appreciate it if you left." I made a move to walk past him.

Big mistake.

Before I could take another step, Declan's hand shot out, gripping my arm in a vice-like hold. He shoved me back, slamming me against the wall.

"Where do you think you're going?" he hissed. "Or has Tyler brainwashed you?"

His grip was like iron. My bones ached under the pressure, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of reacting.

"Let me go, Mr. Declan," I gritted out.

"I'm not letting you go until you give me what I came here for."

"And what would that be?" I shot back, my voice laced with mockery. "Because I still have no idea what you're talking about."

Declan's patience snapped.

"I want to know what's going on with Tyler," he demanded. "Is he really planning to run away? Does he have a burner phone? I want answers."

I held back a smirk. So that's what this is about.

"I don't know if he has one," I said, shrugging. "Why don't you ask him yourself?"

Declan's eyes flashed dangerously.

"Oh, wait. You can't." I continued, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Because instead of talking to him like a normal father, you chose to accuse him."

Declan's hand twitched, as if itching to strike me. "Watch your mouth, son." His voice was low, threatening. "Just because I let you stand beside me doesn't mean I won't end you in seconds."

I swallowed hard, but I refused to back down.

"Good." Declan nodded. "Now, tell me everything that happened with Tyler since last night. When you came to me yesterday, you made it seem like you'd have a lot of information for me today. So why are you suddenly acting so hesitant?"

I exhaled sharply.

"There's nothing else to say," I replied. "I already told you what I knew yesterday. Tyler didn't make any secret calls, didn't take out a burner phone. So if you're worried about him running, I guess you can relax."

Declan's lips curled in disbelief. "You're lying."

I met his gaze, unflinching. "I'm not. But if you don't believe me, why don't you do your own sneaky detective work instead?"

He let out a humorless chuckle. "No, Logan. You're the perfect man for the job."

I watched as he patted my shoulder and turned to leave.

But I wasn't done.

"You told me you'd help me," I said, making him pause. "You said you'd talk to Tyler. Make him forgive me. But it's been a week, Declan. Tyler still hates me."

Declan didn't turn around.

I took a step closer. "You didn't talk to him, did you?"

Silence.

I let out a bitter laugh. "Let me guess—you can't, because you and Tyler aren't even on good terms."

Declan finally faced me, his expression unreadable. "And what makes you think that?"

"Oh, I don't know," I drawled sarcastically. "Maybe the fact that whenever Tyler looks at you, it's with pure hatred. Maybe the fact that he ignores everything you say. Or maybe the fact that he won't even let anyone refer to you as his father."

Declan's face darkened, but I wasn't done.

"You claim you could've convinced him to forgive me," I continued. "But how? You don't have any control over him. Hell, he didn't even come to your wedding because he wanted to. He came because of that staged masked shooting. We both know that."

Declan's jaw clenched. He hated the truth.

"So tell me," I pressed, crossing my arms. "Were you ever actually planning to help me? Or were you just using me for your own selfish agenda?"

Silence stretched between us.

And that was all the confirmation I needed.

Declan had never intended to help me.

He turned away without answering. "See you next time with the next update about Tyler."

I let out a cold laugh.

"And who said there's going to be a next update?"

Declan froze. Slowly, he turned back to me, his eyes dark with fury. "What?"

I smirked. "You heard me. There won't be a next update about Tyler."

His expression twisted with rage. "You dare—"

"I'm done working for you," I cut him off. "Find yourself another spy."

Declan's eyes burned with murderous intent. "You dare say that to me?" he seethed. "If you don't watch your mouth, I'll cut your throat and feed it to my dogs."

I chuckled. "Seems like you're forgetting who my father is."

That got his attention.

I stepped forward, lowering my voice to a whisper. "My father is just as ruthless as you. And he doesn't forgive or forget." I tilted my head. "So imagine what will happen when he finds out you're threatening his only son."

For the first time, Declan hesitated.

I smirked. "I guess neither of us want to find out."

Silence.

"Stay away from me, Mr. Declan." I turned away, heading for the bathroom without sparing him another glance.

"Nice doing business with you."
