His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker.-Chapter 521 Uneasiness
Bella’s eyes lowered to Alexa’s stomach and rested there for a few quiet seconds. A flicker of emotion crossed her face, but it disappeared almost immediately, replaced by a cool, unreadable calm.
"Are you actually stupid?" Bella said coldly. "You tried to frame me with this act... and you didn’t even think about your own baby."
A wave of disgust rose in her chest. Alexa’s behavior made her feel sick, yet at the same time, she felt a reluctant sympathy for the unborn child. That baby had done nothing wrong. What if Bella hadn’t reacted in time? What if Alexa had truly fallen? The thought tightened Bella’s jaw, and her fingers curled faintly at her side as she forced the feeling down.
"Don’t accuse me!" Alexa snapped, her voice trembling with anger and fear. "You’re twisting everything!"
Her frustration spilled out in sharp bursts, her pride bruised by the failure of her plan. "You’re framing me!" she repeated, louder now, trying to convince herself as much as anyone else. "You’re lying!"
Bella did not respond.
She did not argue. She did not defend herself.
Instead, she simply looked away.
She lowered her gaze to her phone and scrolled slowly, as if nothing Alexa said mattered anymore. Her indifference was quiet, but it felt more humiliating than any harsh reply. It sent a clear message: Alexa no longer deserved her attention.
Footsteps echoed down the hallway.
"What happened here?"
The voice was cold and authoritative.
Alessandro stepped into view, his presence instantly changing the atmosphere. The tension in the air deepened as he moved closer. His dark eyes shifted to Alexa first, studying her with a sharp, unreadable look that made her feel small under his gaze.
Bella raised her head to look at him.
"Dad," she said in a level tone, "she tried to set me up. She walked toward me and acted like she was about to fall."
Alessandro’s expression darkened almost instantly. The warmth in his face drained away, replaced by a cold, restrained displeasure. His attention returned to Alexa, his gaze cold and dark.
Alexa swallowed, her earlier confidence cracking. Fear flashed across her face when she realized she no longer controlled the situation.
Alessandro’s jaw tightened. If Alexa’s plan had succeeded, Bella could have been blamed for something terrible. She could have been accused of trying to harm an unborn child. The thought sent a sharp wave of anger through him, sudden and fierce.
His gaze dropped to Alexa’s pregnant belly, and for a brief moment, his expression tightened even more. The anger did not disappear, but he forced it down, reminding himself that there was a child involved. No matter how furious he felt, he refused to let his temper spiral out of control.
When he spoke, his voice was low and restrained.
"I don’t want to say anything harsh because of your baby," he said calmly, though there was a cold edge beneath the surface. "Leave this place quietly and go back home. I need to meet Archer about this."
The moment his words sank in, Alexa’s face drained of color.
Her body began to tremble, fear spreading through her in visible waves. The confidence she had tried to hold onto shattered completely, replaced by a panic she could not hide.
"Please... please, Uncle, no," Alexa cried, her voice breaking as she stepped forward instinctively. "Don’t tell him about this. He’ll get angry."
This time, she was not pretending.
Tears filled her eyes, real fear taking hold. She knew Archer—knew just how fiercely protective he was about the baby. If he discovered she had tried to frame Bella with such a dangerous stunt, he might never let her leave the house until after their child was born.
He might even ask for a divorce.
The thought terrified her.
"I... I’m leaving," she whispered, her voice shaking as she wiped at her tears. She did not wait for a response. Turning quickly, she hurried away, her steps uneven with panic.
Only after Alexa disappeared did Bella let out a quiet breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. The tension in her shoulders eased slightly as relief settled in.
Alessandro looked at her, concern softening his features. "Are you okay?" he asked gently.
Bella nodded, offering him a small, tired smile. "Hmm," she murmured softly.
Alessandro’s jaw tightened as he glanced at his phone. "Leo isn’t picking up," he said in a low voice. "I have a bad feeling something is wrong."
Bella’s grip on her phone tightened immediately. Her heart skipped as she nodded in agreement, anxiety creeping in.
"I’m trying to reach his team," Alessandro continued, frustration edging into his tone. "But they aren’t giving any clear answers. They keep avoiding details."
Bella nodded again, worry deepening in her eyes as they exchanged a few more quiet words about Leo and the situation.
After a moment, she looked around. "Where’s Mom?" she asked.
Alessandro froze for a brief second, then smoothed his expression into a gentle smile. "She’s downstairs, talking with the guests," he replied calmly. "She’s worried about Leo too. She already sent Jay to find out what happened."
Bella nodded, though her concern did not ease.
When the event finally ended, Bella thanked the guests politely, forcing herself to remain composed. Later, she sat in the car beside William, exhaustion settling over her as the night stretched on.
Her phone glowed in her hand as she tapped the screen, her lips pressed together anxiously.
"What are you doing?" William asked softly, noticing her tension.
"I’m tracking Leo’s location," Bella replied quietly. "He didn’t come to the event. It’s strange. He clearly told me he would come, and I really feel like something is wrong."
William nodded, sharing her concern.
"His location shows City F," Bella muttered, staring at the screen. "But Jay said he’s already on the way back. None of it makes sense."
"So you’re planning to go there?" William asked carefully.
"Yes," Bella said after a short pause. "I need to see what happened with my own eyes."
She tried checking nearby security camera footage through her phone, but found nothing helpful. The lack of information only made her more uneasy.
