Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Are You Forcing Me to Take Multiple Wives?

Ethan Sinclair didn’t want to talk about the past. His face was cold and gloomy. He curled his lips and let out a snort, "Isn’t it you who likes her?"

"I do like Kiana, but more importantly, Kiana is the perfect match for you."

Ethan Sinclair was aloof and proud, domineering and forceful. Only a gentle, kind, and considerate girl like Kiana Sutton was a good match for him.

What’s more, the old lady had known for a long time that Kiana Sutton liked Ethan Sinclair. Compared to that Lynch Family girl, she liked Kiana way more.

But Ethan Sinclair didn’t think so at all.

"Perfect match? Ha... You think she’s right for me, so you forced me to marry her. If someday you think someone else suits me, will you force me to take three wives and four concubines?"

"You brat, what nonsense are you spouting?"

The old lady hit Ethan Sinclair twice—seemingly hard, but the strength was feather-light.

"Grandma, if you’re trying to play matchmaker for Kiana Sutton, I suggest you don’t bother. I will never fall in love with her!"

After Kiana Sutton walked in, she was worried that Grandma and Ethan Sinclair would argue about her. After sending away the maid, she stood around the corner and eavesdropped.

Kiana Sutton knew very well that Ethan Sinclair hated her, but hearing him say out loud that he’d never fall in love with her—she felt as if a sharp knife stabbed into her chest, the pain crashing down all at once.

"How long have you even spent with Kiana for you to decide you’ll never love her?"

"Is three years not enough?"

"As far as I know, you barely saw her in these three years. Kiana is obedient, gentle, and kind. If you just spent more time with her, I’m sure you’d come to like her."

Ethan Sinclair gave a cold laugh. "An obedient, well-behaved person would scheme against me with her mother and end up in my bed?"

"You—"

The old lady wanted to say more, but Ethan Sinclair interrupted her coolly, "Grandma, I’m tired. I’m going to bed."

When Ethan Sinclair tried to leave, Grandma grabbed his arm, her words soft but earnest: "Ethan, you don’t know Kiana. She’s not the kind of person you think she is. If you just took the time to get to know her, she’d surprise you."

"Sorry, I don’t have the time, nor the interest, to get to know her."

The old lady looked at Ethan Sinclair’s resolute expression and let out a long, heavy sigh. Had she really made a mistake all those years ago?

...

Kiana Sutton watched Ethan Sinclair head upstairs, then panicked and rushed into her room.

She reached up and touched her chest, her heart pounding fiercely.

But at the thought of Ethan’s determined words—that he’d never love her—her gaze dropped, and her heart ached with both pain and sadness.

This one-sided secret love was destined to be her own private chaos and disaster.

Kiana let out a heavy breath. She really was tired. She walked to the bed and threw herself down on it.

Ethan Sinclair hates her so much and doesn’t want to see her—of course he won’t share a room with her tonight.

That was just what she was thinking, when suddenly the door burst open.

Kiana jolt upright, only to see Ethan Sinclair’s dark and sullen face.

Kiana froze—what was going on?

Was Ethan Sinclair going to sleep here tonight?

Before Kiana could say anything, Ethan’s icy voice rang out, "Who said you could get in bed without showering first?"

Kiana jumped out of bed like a startled cat, standing at attention.

But after a few seconds, she realized: the maid had brought her to this room, and Ethan Sinclair wasn’t supposed to sleep here. So what business did he have telling her about showering or not?

Thinking of the hurtful things he’d said earlier, Kiana didn’t know where the courage came from. She used sign language at Ethan: "This is my room!"

The implication being, I can do whatever I want here.

In front of Ethan Sinclair, Kiana was always timid and submissive. To see her puffed up with anger was rare—Ethan actually found it a little amusing.

Grandma was still worried and came upstairs to check. Seeing Ethan standing at the door, she frowned. "Ethan, it’s late—why aren’t you inside sleeping yet?"

Ethan shot Kiana a cold glance, his lips curling into a wicked smirk. "Grandma, this obedient, well-behaved, and kind granddaughter-in-law you praise won’t even let your grandson into the room."

Kiana never expected Grandma to come upstairs, let alone for Ethan Sinclair to say something like that.

Her expression changed drastically. In a panic, she waved her hands.

If Ethan wanted to sleep in this room, there was no way she’d dare stop him, not even if she had a hundred times more courage!

Sign language was nothing like speaking. When you talked, you could explain yourself quickly even if you were anxious. But with sign language, panic made it easy to make mistakes. And if the other person didn’t bother watching, it was even more hopeless.

Fortunately, Grandma was reasonable and knew that Kiana liked Ethan so much—there was no way she wouldn’t let him in the room. Most likely it was Ethan causing trouble for Kiana again.

She slapped Ethan lightly on the back and pushed him into the room, "Kiana isn’t so petty. All right, it’s very late. You two should get to bed..."

After a pause, Grandma seemed to think of something. She gave a little cough, "Young people don’t have to sleep so early. Spend more time together. I’m still waiting for my great-grandchild, you know." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

After speaking, Grandma left with the maid, leaving Kiana facing an angry Ethan Sinclair all by herself, looking mortified and nervous.

Just as Kiana was at a loss, Ethan Sinclair took a step closer, closing in on her.

Kiana’s heart beat faster and faster, her cheeks gradually flushing—for Ethan Sinclair was undoing the buttons on his white shirt.

He wasn’t wearing gloves tonight. The buttons slipped open with a flick of his fingers, revealing his sexy Adam’s apple, elegant neck, and defined collarbone.

His expression was cold and gloomy, but the gestures of his hands were unspeakably sensual, making Kiana’s mouth instantly dry.

Kiana couldn’t deny it—her love-at-first-sight for Ethan Sinclair was really just lust at first sight.

Who could resist Ethan Sinclair, handsome and finely built as he was?

Kiana Sutton certainly couldn’t.

Her eyes were locked on Ethan’s hands, her breathing growing more and more rapid.

Suddenly, Ethan stopped what he was doing. Kiana was momentarily stunned, and, not yet satisfied, looked up at his face—only to see a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth. "Have you seen enough?"

Whoosh—

Kiana’s face wasn’t just red; her ears and neck were burning too.

Flustered, she averted her gaze, but suddenly Ethan’s big hand gripped her chin, forcing her to face him.

"Kiana Sutton, cut the crap with those filthy little thoughts of yours. Do you really think just because Grandma arranged for us to stay at the old house, I’ll touch you? Have you looked at your own face and body? Just looking makes me sick!"

Kiana’s face went from flushed to pale. She never expected Ethan Sinclair to think she’d asked Grandma to let them stay, that she’d arranged for them to share a room.

She didn’t want Ethan to misunderstand. She wanted to use sign language, but Ethan wouldn’t even look at her. His voice was squeezed through gritted teeth, thick with rage and loathing.

"Trying to use Grandma’s authority to force me into giving you a child? Dream the fuck on! Anyone in this world could have Ethan Sinclair’s baby—but not you, Kiana Sutton. You’re not worthy!"
