His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 109: You Really Don’t Feel a Thing?
Kiana Sutton was truly very grateful to Miles Goodman. He had rescued and helped her time and again, and she always kept that kindness in her heart.
If it were in the past, being pursued by a man, Kiana would definitely have avoided him like the plague.
But Miles was different. Although he said he liked her and wanted to pursue her, he had never once crossed any boundaries.
He was very good at maintaining proper distance between people, never making her feel uncomfortable, and never treating her coldly or smearing her reputation just because she didn’t accept his pursuit.
On the contrary, he had always treated her as a friend.
"How about I help you apply the medicine? The sooner you use it, the sooner you’ll heal."
Kiana quickly waved her hand, smiling as she gestured, "It’s okay, I’ll take it home and apply it myself. Thank you."
Miles was not pleased. "I just gave you a scar removal ointment, can you count how many times you’ve thanked me? Do we really need to be so polite with each other?"
"Yes, we absolutely do!"
Miles: "..."
Miles felt that sometimes Kiana was just too uptight. If all those things hadn’t happened between them, giving him the chance to play the hero, he probably wouldn’t even have the chance to sit down and talk with her now.
But precisely because of this, he found her especially unique.
Ethan Sinclair went to the restroom to look for Kiana Sutton. He hadn’t even reached the bathroom door when he heard Miles Goodman’s voice.
"Little Kiana, why don’t you divorce Ethan Sinclair and be with me? I’ll treat you really, really well, spoil you like a little princess, and love only you for the rest of my life."
Miles said this half seriously, half jokingly, his tone carrying a teasing air.
But to Ethan, this was a blatant act of stepping on his turf.
Because both of them had their backs to him, Ethan couldn’t see Kiana’s expression.
Imagining Kiana possibly blushing with shyness right now, a surge of fury instantly rose up within him.
"What are you two doing!"
As soon as she heard Ethan’s voice, Kiana’s heart gave a violent jolt. Like a startled bird, she quickly got up and turned around, only to see Ethan’s cold, intimidatingly handsome face.
When Miles saw Kiana react to Ethan like a mouse seeing a cat, he frowned deeply.
This hardly looked like a married couple!
Fearing Ethan would make things hard for Kiana, Miles stepped in front of her protectively. "I was just giving her a scar removal ointment."
This move of Miles’ completely enraged Ethan. Clenching his fists tightly, he coldly commanded Kiana, "Come here."
Kiana could obviously feel Ethan was angry. She didn’t have time to think, and walked right over to Ethan.
But Miles grabbed her arm, looking at Ethan coolly, and earnestly said to Kiana, "Don’t go over. I won’t let him bully you anymore."
As Ethan’s face grew scarier, Kiana tried to shake off Miles’s hand, but couldn’t no matter how she tried.
Kiana felt completely hopeless. Today was grandma’s birthday, she didn’t want Ethan and Miles to get into a fight.
She tried to gesture, but Miles was holding her arm and keeping his eyes warily on Ethan, not looking at her; any sign language was useless.
Let go!
Let go, damn it!
Kiana was frantic. She knew Miles meant well, but the more he did this, the angrier Ethan would get—in the end, it would be her who’d pay for it.
Seeing Ethan striding towards them with a stormy face, Kiana panicked and bit down hard on Miles’s hand.
"Hiss—"
In pain, Miles turned to look at Kiana, who immediately used her free hand to signal him to let her go.
Seeing Kiana’s face twisted in pain, pale as paper, Miles looked down and finally saw her wrist red—he’d left the marks himself.
Miles pulled his hand away as if scalded, releasing Kiana at once.
Without a second thought, Kiana darted over and threw her arms tightly around Ethan’s lean waist.
She shot Miles a look, telling him to leave quickly.
Miles remained rooted to the spot, his expression terribly grim.
But Kiana’s desperate move only fueled Ethan’s rage, making him feel like she was protecting Miles.
The fury was enough to burn away all his reason.
Seeing Miles still staring at them, Ethan sneered icily, wrapped his arm around Kiana’s slender waist, gripped her chin, and forcefully kissed her.
Miles’s eyes reddened in rage, fists clenched as he was about to charge up and pull them apart.
Ethan’s cold, sharp gaze swept over. "How much longer does Young Master Goodman intend to watch? Should my wife and I give you a demonstration of intimacy ourselves?"
The word "wife" was emphasized heavily by Ethan, reminding Miles that he and Kiana were legally married, telling Miles not to cross the line.
Miles was shaking with anger, his reddened eyes fixed on Ethan, looking like he might challenge him to a duel.
Kiana was terrified they’d start fighting. One hand wrapping tightly around Ethan, the other clutching his shirt for dear life.
Ethan lowered his eyes and glanced at Kiana. Seeing her keep shaking her head at him, he gently stroked her face while fixing Miles with a frosty stare. "Too bad my wife is shy. If you need a woman, I can introduce you to a few, but Kiana Sutton... she’s mine. Stop trying to make a move on her!"
With that, Ethan pulled Kiana away. He walked so fast she couldn’t keep up, nearly stumbling to the floor.
Impatient, he simply scooped her up in his arms.
Miles started to follow instinctively, taking two steps before coming to a sudden halt.
Right, Kiana Sutton was Ethan Sinclair’s wife. Who was he to her anyway? What right did he have to stop them?
But just thinking about how close the two were, Miles’s anger had nowhere to go. He swung his fist viciously into the wall.
Blood spilled instantly, rosy red sliding slowly down the wall, but he seemed to feel no pain and hit it a few more times.
On the other side, Ethan Sinclair dragged Kiana Sutton into a large conference room.
As soon as they walked in, Ethan pinned Kiana against the conference table, gripped her throat, his face dark and seething, "Want a divorce?"
Kiana’s heart skipped a beat. She shook her head instinctively.
"Miles Goodman’s good looking, rich, and good to you—you’ve fallen for him, haven’t you?"
Kiana kept shaking her head.
"Is that so? I thought if I’d come one step later, you’d have run off with Miles Goodman."
No way!
"Where’s the medicine Miles gave you?"
At this point, Kiana wouldn’t dare disobey Ethan. She quickly pulled the ointment from her bag.
Ethan snatched the ointment from her, glanced at it, and sneered, "Looks like he really is smitten with you. He’s a good man—are you sure you feel nothing for him at all?"
