His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 127: Ran Right Into Trouble
Kate Lynch knew she couldn’t just sit back and wait. Once the filming of the new movie began, she took the freshly brewed bird’s nest soup to find Zoe Xavier.
Thinking that once she settled things with Zoe, she could speed up Ethan Sinclair and Kiana Sutton’s divorce, paving a solid foundation for her to marry into the Sinclair Family.
They were shooting a reality-themed movie, with ninety percent of the scenes set in the countryside.
Zoe Xavier wore old and filthy clothes, and her hair was deliberately styled to look dry and messy. To portray her character authentically, she exposed herself to the sun every day, and her face and lips were peeling.
Seeing this, Kate Lynch thought it was pointless. In today’s society, with such advanced makeup techniques, any effect could be achieved with makeup. Why make herself look so awful?
The resting area was a temporary tent. She smiled warmly at Zoe and said, "Ms. Xavier, filming must be hard work. Here’s some bird’s nest soup I personally made this morning. If you don’t mind, please give it a try."
Kate Lynch smiled as she placed the bird’s nest soup on the table, maintaining a humble manner in front of Zoe Xavier.
Even though Zoe Xavier looked like a rural woman right then, her aura remained formidable, whether in the entertainment industry or among wealthy socialites. She was an unattainable figure.
Moreover, she was Ethan Sinclair’s biological mother.
Zoe Xavier glanced at Kate with her cold eyes and gestured with her hands.
Seeing Zoe using sign language, Kate immediately thought of Kiana Sutton, feeling deeply uncomfortable.
At this moment, Zoe’s assistant said, "Miss Lynch, Ms. Xavier thanks you, but she’s staying in character for Miss Forrest and isn’t eating bird’s nest soup right now."
Kate continued to smile, "It’s just a bowl of bird’s nest soup, shouldn’t be a problem."
Zoe shook her head, clearly indicating her refusal.
To portray a role well, one must deeply experience every aspect of it.
For days, Zoe wore ragged clothes, ate simple meals, and slept on a farmer’s clay bed.
She always had high standards for her work and wouldn’t compromise for a bowl of bird’s nest soup.
Kate’s smile froze. Despite being a Lynch Family heiress, Zoe didn’t show her any respect. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
But recalling her purpose for coming, she collected her emotions and apologized, "Sorry, I was just concerned about Ms. Xavier’s hard work during filming and wanted to offer some nourishment."
Zoe gestured again with her hands.
Her assistant translated, "Ms. Xavier says it’s fine and asks if there’s anything you need from her?"
"Oh... haha... It’s my first time acting, and I’m a bit nervous. I hope Ms. Xavier can guide me more in the coming days."
Zoe nodded slightly and then looked at her assistant.
The assistant understood and said to Kate, "Miss Lynch, Ms. Xavier needs to rest for a while as she’ll be filming soon. Please excuse yourself."
Seeing Zoe close her eyes, Kate clenched her fists in frustration.
After escorting Kate out of the resting area, the assistant asked with a smile, "May I ask what happened to Ms. Xavier’s voice? Why isn’t she speaking and suddenly using sign language?"
"Ms. Xavier’s voice is fine. The character she’s playing this time is a mute, so she hasn’t spoken since yesterday to stay true to the role."
It was only then that Kate remembered Zoe playing a mute heroine in "Hello, Miss Forrest." The drama was about people at the bottom of society harming and trampling others for various interests.
As a mute girl, she suffered inhumane abuse, scorn, and ridicule.
Love, family, friendship...
Initially, they were wonderful, but eventually, their true forms emerged, grotesque and hideous.
The character was challenging. When Zoe saw the script, she was excited, as she hadn’t seen such a good script in a long time.
However, she was also a bit worried about whether she could portray the role well.
She even took lessons from a sign language teacher but always felt something was missing, which affected her mood.
Kate came at a bad time.
Knowing that Zoe using sign language had nothing to do with Kiana and wasn’t because Zoe didn’t want to talk to her, Kate let out a slight sigh of relief.
Yet, wooing Zoe was proving too difficult. Kate’s eyes lit up as she dialed Ethan Sinclair’s number.
"Kate..."
"Hmm, Ian... when will you come to see me?"
"What’s wrong?"
"Even though I studied at a film school, I was in a coma for three years, and I’m worried about managing on my own."
"You can do it."
"Oh, Director Young is so strict, and all the other actors are seasoned, while I’m the only newbie. I’m so nervous that my palms are sweaty. I really, really need you."
After a brief pause, Kate continued, "And there are so many mosquitoes here. My legs and body have been bitten into big welts, and at night they itch, so I can’t sleep. Can you come to see me, please?"
Kate’s voice was filled with helplessness, grievance, and fear.
Fortunately, Ethan wasn’t as busy as before, and he was also worried about Kate, so he agreed.
Before heading to Whitecloud Village, Nathan Lawson had taken sick leave, so Ethan brought Kiana along.
Kiana didn’t know where Ethan was headed, but it was her first time going on a business trip with him, and she felt quite excited.
After a three-hour drive, they finally arrived at the "Hello, Miss Forrest" filming base.
Only then did Kiana realize Ethan was visiting Kate on set.
Her good mood from the trip instantly vanished.
The mighty presence of Evercrest Group’s CEO Ethan Sinclair on set was quite the spectacle.
Knowing the hardships of rural filming, Ethan brought lots of tents, drinks, and mosquito repellents.
He also brought various fruits and delicacies for everyone.
The director and producer were all smiles and nods toward Ethan, as he was the major investor in the film.
Hearing Ethan had arrived, Kate, who had just been doing her makeup, excitedly ran out to find him, "Ian!"
She ran eagerly toward Ethan but stopped abruptly before reaching his embrace when Zoe’s calm voice called out, "Ethan..."
Upon hearing this, Kate stopped in her tracks, her expression changing slightly.
Of course, she had forgotten Zoe Xavier was there.
Right now, Ethan was a married man. Zoe would never allow her to get close to him, considering the Sinclair family name and Ethan’s reputation.
"Mom..."
Kiana also spotted Zoe and nodded at her.
Zoe gave Kiana a brief glance, not lingering her gaze on her, but instead called Ethan into the resting area.
No one knew what the two discussed, but when they emerged, Ethan’s expression was somewhat grim.
Seeing this, Kate discreetly texted Ethan, "Ian, I’ll wait for you in the small grove out front."
