Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Who Is She, Really?

After Kiana Sutton paid back the money she owed Zoe Xavier, she felt a little more at ease, but not much lighter.

Because her debt hadn’t changed, it just shifted from Zoe Xavier to Quinn Sinclair.

For her now, making money was the top priority.

But before that, she needed to make a trip to the prison.

When she got there, Kiana learned that the application for Gordon Sutton’s medical parole had been approved, and she was overjoyed, excitedly writing on a piece of paper, "Which hospital is my father in now?"

"There’s a dedicated prison hospital."

"May I go see my father?"

"Sorry, you can’t!"

Kiana felt a tinge of disappointment, but thinking about her father’s illness being treated made her happy, "Okay, thank you for your help."

On the way back, Kiana kept wondering why the authorities suddenly agreed to Gordon Sutton’s medical parole.

She thought and thought, and could only think of one person.

When Kiana got home, Chelsea Chapman mentioned that Ethan Sinclair was in the study. She knocked on the door for quite a while, and when no one answered, she gently pushed it open.

Upon entering, Kiana saw Ethan Sinclair asleep on the sofa in the study.

His features were sharp, eyelashes long and lush, his nose high and prominent, and his skin, never touched by skincare products, was so fine that not a pore could be seen.

Only when Ethan was in a deep sleep could Kiana dare to stare at him so unabashedly.

Her greedy eyes fell on Ethan’s sensual thin lips. This mouth always managed to say things that pierced her heart, yet during a kiss, it was so soft and comforting.

He seemed to be dreaming about something, his brow furrowed, looking somewhat anxious.

At this moment, in Ethan’s dream.

By a serene and beautiful lakeside, he saw a girl in a white T-shirt with a low ponytail sitting there painting.

Her silhouette was slim and delicate, her focus on the painting as if she had forgotten everything around her.

Just by looking at a silhouette, his heart couldn’t help but race. He felt that he watched her like this numerous times, not daring to disturb this tranquility, yet couldn’t resist the urge to get closer.

Suddenly, the girl stood up, and as she packed her art supplies, he saw what she had been painting.

It was a bouquet of pink and white Starlight flowers.

The girl was leaving, and he stepped forward to chase her, but although the distance was short, he couldn’t catch up.

He strongly felt that he liked her, a strong desire to see her face, but panting heavily, all he could see was her back.

"Wait for me! Don’t leave!"

The girl suddenly stopped in her tracks, slowly turning around...

Yet, before he could see her face, Ethan awakened from his dream.

He abruptly opened his eyes, Kiana Sutton’s pretty and innocent face enlarged in his view.

For a moment, Kiana’s face overlapped with the silhouette from his dream.

The next second, Ethan’s expression turned cold, angrily pinning Kiana down on the sofa, his hand grasping her throat, "What are you doing?"

The damned woman, if she hadn’t suddenly approached, he would have already seen who the girl in his dream was.

Such a dream, Ethan had been having for six months now, but he never saw the girl’s face.

This time, when she was finally about to turn around, Kiana ruined it!

Ethan sharply opened his eyes, his dark gaze icy cold, scaring Kiana out of her wits. Just moments ago, she was bewitched by Ethan’s charm, foolishly wanting to steal a kiss, only to be caught red-handed.

Kiana’s mind raced, and she thought of something, her eyes lit up, and she quickly signaled in sign language, "There was a mosquito about to bite you, I was helping you swat it away."

Ethan laughed coldly, "You can make up such nonsense, do you think I’m a three-year-old child?"

"I’m not lying to you. If I didn’t help swat the mosquito, you’d definitely have a big bump on your face."

Kiana dared not tell the truth. What if Ethan found out she wanted to steal a kiss?

Were it not for Ethan knowing Kiana’s habit of picking her thumb when lying, her innocent and sincere façade might have deceived him.

Ethan’s cool thumb heavily brushed against Kiana’s soft and warm lips, a cold arc curling at his lips, "Such filthy tactics might work on others, but I only find them disgusting."

Kiana’s face turned instantly pale as a sheet, her heart feeling like it was tossed into a grinder, unbearable with pain.

Seeing Ethan was about to leave, Kiana thought of something and rushed to block him, anxiously signing, "Did you arrange for my father’s treatment?"

Mentioning Gordon, Ethan’s mood soured further.

Kiana quickly signed, "I wanted to thank you..."

Before she could finish, Ethan interrupted with a laugh, "You’re mistaken. I arranged for your father’s treatment not for his health, but because... he hurt Kate so badly, how could I let him die so easily?"

Though Ethan smiled, there was no warmth in it, rather it sent chills down one’s spine.

"I’ll make sure that despicable father of yours lives a life worse than death."

Worse than death!

What terrifying words!

Kiana knew Ethan would follow through on what he said, and felt as if her energy was drained, collapsing limply to the ground.

In the morning, she was still joyful over her father getting treatment, considering thanking Ethan, and seeing if there was a way to see her father.

Now, he just simply kicked her into hell, fully realizing how ridiculous her hopes and expectations were.

Ethan looked down at her, showing no pity, "You better pray Kate wakes up soon, so you and your father will suffer less."

Just as Ethan left the villa, his phone rang, "The Fifth Master, the store that made the whistle has news, they said you showed them a picture of a girl that day, saying the whistle was for her." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Ethan’s expression was grim, "What kind of girl?"

"They said you cherished that girl, just briefly showing off the picture before carefully putting your phone away, afraid anyone might look at it for even a second too long, so they didn’t get a good look at the girl in the picture. However, the store’s surveillance captured the moment, and I’ve sent all the relevant footage to your phone."

Ethan’s heart raced suddenly, as he’d lost those memories. He always thought the whistle was for Kate Lynch.

But recently, he kept dreaming of that slender and delicate silhouette, which filled his heart with joy and trepidation.

He wasn’t sure if that person was Kate Lynch, only that she was very important to him.

If he saw the surveillance, all the mysteries entangling him over this period might be resolved.

Thinking this, Ethan took a deep breath, gravely but expectantly opened the surveillance records sent by Connor Grant...
