His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 191: Please Don’t Make This Even More Embarrassing for Me
Quinn Sinclair rolled up her sleeves, ready to confront Ethan Sinclair and Kate Lynch, but was pulled back by Kiana Sutton.
Kiana Sutton’s chest ached as if bleeding, but she couldn’t cry, especially not at a moment like this.
"Quinn, please don’t make this any harder for me, okay?"
What would rushing over even accomplish?
She’d known for a long time that Ethan Sinclair loved Kate Lynch. The fact that she got to marry Ethan, and be his wife for more than three years, was all stolen. When the time came, even if she wouldn’t willingly let go, it would be ripped away from her anyway.
Quinn Sinclair felt unbearably guilty and miserable. "Sis, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault..."
All that nonsense about playing hard to get—she actually thought, when Ethan woke up and found Kiana Sutton gone, he’d be worried and miss her. She never imagined it would give him a chance to be alone with Kate Lynch instead.
Kiana Sutton smiled and patted Quinn Sinclair gently on the head, gesturing slowly, "I know you meant well. Let’s go. Let’s act as if we were never here today, as if we didn’t see anything."
Quinn Sinclair was both angry and anxious; she had meant well, but it all backfired.
After the two left, Kate Lynch curled her lips in satisfaction and slowly opened her eyes. "I feel much better now..."
Meeting Kate Lynch’s reddened eyes, Ethan Sinclair immediately released her. "As long as you’re okay."
He glanced down at his watch and saw that Kiana Sutton and Quinn Sinclair should be coming back soon, so he stood up and said coolly, "The wind’s picking up. Let’s head back."
When Ethan Sinclair returned to the tent, Kiana Sutton and Quinn Sinclair were still nowhere to be seen. After asking around, he learned they’d gone for a nap.
Ethan Sinclair held himself back from disturbing them, but ended up waiting all the way until dinner time.
Today was Ethan Sinclair and Quinn Sinclair’s birthday, and to celebrate, Connor Grant had prepared a bonfire dinner party well in advance.
Eat, play, and dance all at once.
Following local customs, everyone put on traditional outfits.
Julian Garrison rushed over just before dinner to celebrate Ethan Sinclair’s birthday and, seeing Ethan wasn’t wearing Tibetan clothes, insisted on dragging him to change together.
"Don’t you want someone to see a different side of you?"
Julian Garrison didn’t say any names on purpose. Ethan Sinclair wasn’t sure who he meant, but didn’t protest again.
To outshine everyone and make sure Ethan Sinclair had eyes only for her, Kate Lynch showed up dressed to the nines, her headpiece and dress both incredibly expensive.
"Wow, Miss Lynch, you look amazing tonight."
Kate Lynch gazed affectionately at Ethan Sinclair and smiled softly. "Everyone looks beautiful." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Misty Quinn asked, "Where are Quinn and Kiana? Why aren’t they out yet?"
"Getting changed, they’ll be out any minute."
Soon enough, Quinn Sinclair and Kiana Sutton arrived hand in hand.
Compared to Kate Lynch’s extravagant outfit, the two of them were quite simple—especially Kiana Sutton. She wore a blue dress, her long hair braided, a crescent-shaped, leafy tassel hanging from her brow.
She looked fresh and elegant; amidst the crowd decked in lavish clothes, she was like a clear stream cutting through the excess.
But her expression was mournful, as if something was wrong.
Not just her—Quinn Sinclair looked upset too.
A bonfire blazed in the center, with seating all around.
Seeing Ethan Sinclair and Kate Lynch sitting together, Quinn Sinclair glared at the two and then pulled Kiana Sutton to sit directly across from them.
Ethan Sinclair shot the pair a chilled look, his elegant brows knitting in displeasure.
Just then, Francis Shaw, acting as host, took the microphone and strode to the center.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today is President Sinclair and Quinn’s birthday. Thanks to President Sinclair, we get to have fun here. First off, happy birthday, President Sinclair!"
Everyone lifted their glasses. Quinn Sinclair, still angry, didn’t want to join in, until Kiana Sutton gently nudged her.
Quinn Sinclair didn’t think it was fair to Kiana Sutton, but seeing her holding her sadness back, putting on a brave face, reluctantly raised her glass.
"Happy birthday, President Sinclair."
Everyone chimed in together.
Ethan Sinclair’s dark eyes never left Kiana Sutton. Kiana just raised her glass to him, showing no particular emotion.
She couldn’t wish him a happy birthday like everyone else—not even a glance his way.
Seeing Ethan Sinclair staring at Kiana Sutton without responding, Kate Lynch leaned in and whispered, "Ian, everyone’s sending their wishes."
Only then did Ethan Sinclair pull his gaze away, offering a faint smile. "Thank you, everyone. I’ll drink first to show my gratitude."
He had barely lifted his glass when Kate Lynch stopped him. "You still have a slight fever, don’t drink. How about I do it for you?"
"Wow..."
The crowd started jeering. Quinn Sinclair was so mad she could explode her lungs, about to burst out when Kiana Sutton held her back and shook her head.
Ethan Sinclair glanced at Kiana Sutton again. Damn woman, she really wasn’t going to react at all.
He deliberately smiled at Kate Lynch. "It’s fine. But you—your body’s still weak; you’d better not drink either."
Those who didn’t know the truth assumed Ethan Sinclair and Kate Lynch were a couple and egged them on excitedly.
Kate Lynch played up her bashful charm.
Ethan Sinclair saw Kiana Sutton still unmoved, his frown deepening even further.
Quinn Sinclair gritted her teeth and muttered, "Sis, you’re actually putting up with this!"
What else could she do if she couldn’t?
Start a fight with Ethan Sinclair?
Ethan didn’t care about her at all. If she made a scene, he’d just be more annoyed with her.
Besides, today was their birthday. She wanted everyone to be happy.
So she gestured at Quinn Sinclair, "Cheer up! I don’t want your birthday ruined because of me."
"Alright, now let’s wish our beautiful Quinn a happy birthday—may she stay forever young and happy!"
"Quinn, happy birthday!"
Everyone lifted their glasses toward Quinn Sinclair, who let out a big sigh, picked up her drink, and smiled at the crowd. "Thank you, everyone. Tonight, let’s eat, drink, and go wild—no one leaves till we’re drunk!"
With that, she clinked glasses with Kiana Sutton.
Kiana Sutton nodded and downed her drink in one gulp.
The next while, everyone ate and drank—it was lively and merry.
Kiana Sutton, feeling heavy-hearted, ended up drinking a few more rounds.
Her tolerance was low; after a few drinks, she was already tipsy.
Quinn Sinclair didn’t want to talk to Ethan Sinclair and Kate Lynch anymore, so she dragged Kiana Sutton off to dance.
Kiana couldn’t dance at all. But drunk and down, she needed to let loose.
Her limbs wouldn’t cooperate, and she was barely steady, hand-in-hand with Quinn Sinclair, dancing in a way that was truly comedic.
Then the cake was brought out.
No one knows who started it, but soon it turned into a cake war.
Kiana Sutton had been in a dark mood, but as she got drunk and started playing, she completely cut loose.
Cake in hand, she chased after Quinn Sinclair and a few girls, smearing cake on any face she could reach.
Ethan Sinclair had already been ignored by Kiana Sutton for two days. Seeing her having fun with everyone else, not sparing him a single glance, his temper flared higher and higher.
