His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 66: Meeting Shuri’s Parents
Chapter 66 - Meeting Shuri’s Parents
That night, Noran drove Shuri to the Lee residence.
In the car, Shuri kept glancing down at the diamond ring on her fourth finger.
The diamond was large, sparkling brilliantly under the car's interior light, looking both expensive and exquisitely beautiful.
She couldn't help but think it must have cost him a fortune.
Noran sneaked a peek at Shuri, noticing her fixed gaze on the ring, and smiled. "Do you like it so much that you couldn't stop staring at it?"
Shuri looked up at him and said honestly, "How much did you spend on this? It looks very expensive."
Although her family was rich in this life and she wasn't short on cash due to her profession, she thought the diamond ring Noran gave her could buy them a house.
Wasn't it a bit wasted to give it to her?
Noran simply replied, "The value is nothing compared to how much you mean to me, Rin."
"Such a sweet-talker," Shuri chuckled softly and reached out to pinch his cheek gently.
Noran let out a soft laugh, holding onto her hand while controlling the steering wheel with his other hand.
"I wonder how I should tell my parents," Shuri suddenly sighed.
Shuri had never dated anyone, always seeming uninterested in the opposite sex.
Showing up with Noran tonight and announcing their engagement would surely shock her parents.
"Don't worry, even if they don't approve of us, I will work hard to win their approval," Noran reassured her, his voice steady and confident.
Shuri looked at Noran's handsome face and laughed. "Mum is already smitten by you. She couldn't stop texting me to remind me to bring you over. But as for Dad and Lene... I don't know."
She sighed again, a bit of worry clouding her eyes.
Noran squeezed her hand gently.
"If your sister remains the same as before, I'm sure she will never agree to this marriage. But what if your dad disapproves of us? Will you not marry me?"
Shuri looked at Noran, noticing his unease, and couldn't help but tease, "Can I not marry you?"
"No," came his immediate response, and Shuri laughed.
Noran, who was usually composed and unaffected by many matters, rarely exhibited such vulnerability.
She found it endearing and enjoyed teasing him a bit to bring out this side of him that he only showed to her.
"If your father disapproves, we can just elope," Noran suggested, sounding a little serious.
"Again?" Shuri looked at him in amusement.
In their previous life, they had eloped when the Kingston family disapproved of their relationship.
And now, he wanted to elope with her again?
Did he enjoy doing that?
"Yes, I can bring you abroad, to New Valley, and start our new life there if you want," he proposed.
Shuri shook her head with a smile. "Let's not elope this time, Ran. I have a clinic here, and I like my life in Sol City."
"Alright, I'll do whatever you want, Rin."
Shuri looked back at Noran again, appreciating him for always respecting her wishes.
She thought that even if her father, Linus, were to disapprove of their marriage, she would still marry Noran.
She had promised him she would face her fears and spend their future together, so she wouldn't give up on him now.
Little did Shuri know, Noran wasn't worried at all about Linus' opinion.
He knew there was no way Linus could object to this marriage.
After arriving at the Park's residence, Noran parked the car.
Holding a bouquet of flowers he had brought for Hana in one hand and Shuri's hand in the other, they walked together to the front door.
Shuri took a deep breath before pressing the doorbell.
Almost immediately, the door swung open, revealing Hana with a radiant smile lighting up her face.
Shuri was about to greet her mother when Hana grasped Noran's hand, looking starstruck. "Kya! You really came! I can't believe Noran Kingston is actually at our house! Welcome!"
Noran put on his usual polite smile and handed the flowers to Hana. "Thank you for inviting me, Mrs. Hana. Rin said you love flowers, so I got these for you."
Hana's eyes lit up even more as she accepted the bouquet.
She looked down at the bouquet, which was a stunning mix of her favorite flowers: roses, lilies, and orchids, all in vibrant colors.
"Oh my! I can't believe you got me all my favorite flowers! That's so thoughtful of you, Noran. Thank you so much! Oh, and don't just stand there, come in, come in!"
Hana pulled Noran into the house, leaving Shuri standing outside in disbelief.
What just happened? Did her mom just ignore her and steal her fiancé?
Shuri sighed and followed them inside, closing the door behind her.
As she entered the living room, she saw Linus standing up from the sofa, his expression one of shock as he stared at Noran.
Was her dad going to act like her mother too? Was he also a fan of Noran?
Shuri watched as Linus took a step forward, his eyes wide with surprise and excitement.
"Mr. Lee? Oh my goodness, what an honor to have you here!" he exclaimed, grabbing Noran's hand and shaking it vigorously.
Shuri's eyes widened in astonishment as she watched her father, usually so composed, act all excited.
Noran now stood awkwardly in the middle of the room, both her parents holding onto his hands.
Shuri hurried over and exclaimed, "Mom, Dad, enough! You're scaring Ran."
She quickly grabbed Noran's arm and pulled him away from her parents.
She had expected all kinds of scenarios, but definitely not this!
Her parents appeared as if they wanted to devour her fiancé alive.
She placed Noran protectively behind her and looked at Linus. "Dad, do you know Ran?"
"Of course, I do! Ran Lee, the Chairman of Paragon! It's such an honor to see you again, Mr. Lee."
Linus couldn't stop expressing his admiration for Noran, shaking his hand with enthusiasm.
Hana and Shuri just stared at him, the former looking even more amazed by his presence, while the latter was utterly shocked.
"You're the chairman of Paragon?" Shuri turned to Noran, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Noran just smiled at her and said, "It didn't seem important, so I forgot to mention it."
Shuri was speechless.
How could him being the chairman of Paragon not be important?
She knew how established Paragon was—one of the top diversified investment conglomerates in the West.
Paragon had built an empire with a portfolio that spanned luxury residential properties, commercial buildings, and even entire urban developments.
Their reputation for excellence and innovation was unmatched, and they had a global influence with projects in major cities worldwide.
Competing with Paragon was considered nearly impossible due to their strategic acquisitions and impeccable market timing.
And to think Noran was the chairman? What was going on?
She turned back to Linus, who was still beaming with excitement. "Dad, you never told me you knew Ran."
Linus nodded as he explained, "I did mention I went to New Valley to expand my business. It just so happened that the cafe I wanted to acquire belonged to Mr. Lee.
He even personally came over to discuss the deal. That's when I learned he was the chairman of Paragon. He even invested in our business there."
Linus turned to Noran with admiration. "You agreed to have dinner with us, and I didn't expect it to be so soon. What a pleasant surprise."
Investor? Expansion? Owner of the cafe?
Shuri was momentarily lost in the whirlwind of revelations.
Then, it suddenly struck her. Was it the cafe where she and Karlene had worked in their previous life, the place where they first met?
She turned to Noran, her eyes wide with realization. "Did you buy that cafe?"
Noran nodded with a warm smile.
Leaning in, he replied softly, "I planned to return it to you, Rin. But giving it to your father is the same, isn't it?"
"You... really..." Shuri's voice trailed off as she absorbed the magnitude of his actions.
All this time, he had done so much for her while she was trying to avoid him.
Her heart swelled with profound gratitude, but before she could say more, Hana interrupted them.
"Let's have dinner before the food gets cold," Hana said, gesturing for Noran to follow her to the dining room.
Once seated at the dining table, both Hana and Linus acted like the perfect hosts, treating Noran with the utmost hospitality.
Shuri sat beside Noran, watching as her parents continuously placed food into his bowl and peppered him with questions.
Noran answered each question politely, maintaining his composure despite the barrage of inquiries and admiration.
He didn't seem pressured by their constant attention, handling it with a grace that impressed Shuri.
"So, Mr. Lee," Linus finally asked, looking a bit more serious, "what is your relationship with my daughter?"
Hana chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Are you two dating?"
From the way Noran and Shuri looked at each other and the way they interacted, it was clear to anyone that they were deeply in love.
Their chemistry was undeniable, and their affection for one another was palpable.
It puzzled her parents why they hadn't known Shuri was dating Noran—a prominent figure not only worshipped in the classical music world but also the owner of the Paragon Group, known to be one of the top diversified investment conglomerates in the West.
If Shuri hadn't brought Noran over tonight, they wouldn't have believed it.
Noran appeared calm as he put down his chopsticks and gently took Shuri's hand in his.
He lifted their intertwined hands, and her parents caught the view of the diamond ring on her fourth finger that glimmered brightly in the light.
Then he casually announced, "We're getting married."
The room fell silent as Linus and Hana dropped their utensils in shock.
