His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 356: Let It Swallow You.
Chapter 356: Let It Swallow You.
Sarah paced up and down her room. She drummed her phone on her palm in deep thought and fear made her hands tremble.
She rubbed her forehead, easing the headache brewing up, and stared at her phone for the hundredth time. Yes! She was expecting Mr. Adams to call her but why wasn’t his call coming the funny part of it all was that she couldn’t give him a call.
Back in the monitoring room, after that man had left, she stayed back due to shock and also decided to wait until the ten minutes were completed.
She was lucky she left before Logan and Vincent strolled in that direction. She could not imagine what would have happened to her if any of them had seen her.
Mr. Adams sent her a text two minutes ago asking her to be still and except a call from him on what next to do as soon as possible but she hasn’t received any.
Her heart thumped more loudly in her chest. She could feel herself in her father’s embrace already and she wanted nothing more than that. However, there was a lingering feeling in the corner of her heart that said Mr. Adams might have decided to abandon her.
At that thought, her eyes burnt and her emotions threatened to let go through tears. She wanted to speak to her father, was that asking for much? Even if she can’t leave this mansion to see him, she wants to hear his voice.
Why wasn’t Mr. Adam calling her to fulfill that wish? Her heart ached and her mind trembled. She felt led on as if she had made a big mistake without knowing. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
However, her thoughts proceeded to jinx her luck. At that moment, two resounding knocks from different angles could be heard.
Sarah frowned and turned towards her window. It was strange a knock was coming from her window and who could it be? And also, another knock came on her door.
Her phone beeped. She saw an incoming text message and it read, "Open your window the moment you read this," the note had Mr. Adams’s name beside it in brackets.
Thankfully, her door was locked. She decided to let whoever was knocking continue knocking while she attended to the one more. She rushed towards her window. Her window wasn’t far from the soil but still, there was a height difference and it was much for someone like her which made her wonder how the person was able to climb. Another question was how wasn’t the person caught.
What was Mr. Adams doing and how did he get this dangerous to be messing with people’s minds this way?
She walked towards her window and getting there, she felt debris falling on her. Her eyes widened in horror and before she would know what was happening, the ceiling around her bed corner collapsed and dropped on the floor.
A mighty scream tore off her lips and she flung her phone away. She felt the second explosion but never expected it to be around her.
What was Mr. Adams doing? He’s taking all of these too far. Where would all of this end? Does he intend to kill them all in this room?
Outside her door, Logan pushed away from the door when the effect of the explosion got to where he stood, and in just a matter of seconds, he heard screams from all over the place that his mansion was burning down to the floor and he felt it.
His emotions changed quickly from dark and revengeful to survival. His survival instinct kicked in and he slammed hard on Sarah’s door.
He knew she was inside, he heard her scream. He tried to open the door but it wasn’t working and he wondered what ran through her mind for her not to run out of her room until this moment.
"Sarah!" he yelled her name from the outside. He might have doubts about her but she was now in his organization and the people who have walked in, never walk alone. If she betrayed them, he should give her a painful death by himself and not someone else.
Inside the room, Sarah hadn’t recovered from the shock of her ceiling collapsing when another happened. Fire came along the blocks and caught up with the flammable materials around her room.
She instantly faced the window again and tried to open it to reach out to who was there. But luck wasn’t by her side and by the time she opened the window, the knocks stopped coming, and to her greatest surprise, the man who should have helped her out or would have done whatever had also abandoned her.
She saw him running away through the valley as the fire had almost caught up with every corner of the house. This wasn’t what she asked for.
She only wanted to be with her father again and immediately, fresh tears burst out of her eyes. She tried to jump but it was a bad option. One wrong landing position would flame her up and the risk levels were high.
She looked around the room and realized how screwed up she was. She could hear Logan calling out for her at the door and it left her in awe. Her legs itched to get to the door but that was almost impossible as there wasn’t a place for her to step her feet on and not to add, she was already choking from the smoke.
She never asked of this. This wasn’t what she requested. More things in the room caught fire and she saw death standing right in front of her.
The hard slams on her door stopped and everything became still. The fire got closer to her legs and the feeling of it wasn’t bearable.
As unbearable as it was, she did not fight it as she allowed it to swallow her whole. This had been the day she had been waiting for ever since she lost her family but now she discovered that one survived, she had ended up being the one to die as a price for wanting to see him.
She regretted her betrayals to Logan. If not from another person, he at least deserves kindness and loyalty from her and not what he got. She kept on betraying him for her interest, forgetting how he saved her from being a sex slave to someone without even asking for anything in return. He even gave her a good life.
The saying which says that life replays before you when death arrives was true. Sarah finally realized it and just when she waited for the fire to swallow her legs and lick every inch of her skin, the door burst open...
