His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 388: His Little Boy.
Chapter 388: His Little Boy.
Arissa gave Nicklaus a surprised look when she spotted Mr Wyatt among the people seated at the dining table.
She was beyond shocked when she saw him for the first time since she signed her contract. She took her eyes off him and immediately her gaze landed on Mrs. Wyatt and Geal, her face brightened once more.
Nicklaus helped her to take her seat beside him. Arissa felt eyes on her and when she turned, it was Nicklaus’s father she immediately felt uncomfortable
She knows the man doesn’t like her and that is the reason she does not appreciate his stares. Mrs. Wyatt gave her a small smile which she managed to return while Geal whinked at her and Nicklaus.
"Here," Mrs Wyatt’s excited voice resounded through the dining as she passed Arissa a plate of chicken breast, "Eat up, you look hungry,"
Arissa accepted the plate from her timidly and dropped it before her. She took out some portions of food and began to eat, trying her best not to glance at Mr. Wyatt.
Nicklaus gave her a small back rub. It soothes her and when she finally relaxed even under his father’s glare, he added rice to his plate and began to eat.
The dining table went silent and only the sound of cutleries could be heard. Geal passed Nicklaus occasional smirks as he couldn’t wait to release teaseful words at him.
Unlike Arissa’s expectations when she first spotted Mr. Wyatt, dinner went peacefully and she felt comfortable even without a conversation from anyone.
However, things did not go as her mind proceed.
"I never liked you," Mr. Wyatt began, just when Arissa thought she would leave the dining table without a word from him.
"Father!"
"Gabriel,"
"Mr. Wyatt,"
Geal, Nicklaus, and Mr. Wyatt flipped their heads to him in surprise and shunned him respectively.
Arissa gulped and dropped a hand on Nicklaus’s lap, "It’s fine, Nick," she muttered softly. She smiled at everyone in the dining room and fixed her eyes on Mr. Wyatt.
She controlled her poise and smiled at him, "I knew that," she took her eyes off him and began to divide the chicken breast given to her by Mrs. Wyatt. "It’s not new to me that you never liked me. I understand the reason for that,"
She raised her face to him again and fixed her eyes on Mr. Wyatt. She smiled calmly and passed him a plate of half sliced chicken breast.
Mr. Wyatt received the plate from her, "Thank you," he said with a frosty voice, "However, I had to learn how to live with you as I should,"
Mr. Wyatt decided to come out clean concerning his previous thoughts about her. He wanted her to know about his previous inner thoughts in case she wanted to be open with him.
Arissa fixed her eyes on Mr. Wyatt. She chuckled softly when she remembered the day she signed the contract. She had literally thought he would become her husband and she thanked the Lord he wasn’t.
"I’m surprised you are pregnant," Mr. Wyatt continued, "Would the baby be a leverage to hold my son down or what would the baby be used as?" his voice came out harsh and he searched her face, down to her soul.
Mrs. Wyatt choked on her water and Nicklaus clenched his fist. Geal released a low breath and slowly relaxed into his seat with an already throbbing head.
"Father_"
Arissa dropped her cutleries and cut Nicklaus off, "I have no plans to hold your son down, not even with a baby. That would be a very dumb shit for me to do and sadly, I do not want to taint myself by being disgustingly dumb," she paused, "I admire your care and concern towards your son. It’s beautiful and I’m not surprised you think the worst of me... I mean who wouldn’t? I was brought up with inhuman parents so I understand and for the record, you do not have to be so doubtful about everything. I know you need to hear this but I do not mind it if you do not believe me. However, I’ll say it still...." her hand on Nicklaus’s lap trembled and he was quick to cover her palm with his big ones.
She was beginning to feel nauseated and struggled to control it. "I love your son. I do not mind if you believe it or not but I am all ready to take away all the doubts you have in your_"
"Excuse us," Nicklaus interrupted her when he saw how she took in multiple gulps to control herself. "Let’s go," he told her.
Arissa nodded but did not stand up. She smiled softly at Mr. Wyatt to mask the pain she felt in her heart due to his brutal words.
"Nick," she stretched a hand to Nicklaus.
Mrs. Wyatt stood up from her seat, "Are you alright, dear?" she asked softly, her feet itching to move towards them.
"I am," she smiled gracefully and Nicklaus clenched her hand softly. He glared at his father with eyes saying; we have to talk later on this.
Mr. Wyatt nodded in agreement.
Nicklaus cradled Arissa into his arms and left the dining table with fast strides. Mrs. Wyatt dropped a hand on her chest and released a low sigh.
"I had to do that, Rosalind," Mr. Wyatt apologized before Mrs. Wyatt asked him why he said words like that to Arissa.
Mrs Wyatt shook her head in disagreement, "You shouldn’t have said words like that to her. Her emotions aren’t stable yet," she sniffed, tears almost escaping her eyes.
Pushing her plate of food away, she proceeded to remind him, "I did not expect this from you. You promised me to be nice to her,"
Mr. Wyatt ran a hand through his hair and said with a firm voice, "Nicklaus’s emotions are more unstable and fragile than hers. I need to protect him at all costs, he might be grown but he’s still my little boy,"
Geal stood up from his seat and walked towards Arissa and Nicklaus’s trays.
"I have to send this to them," he said hastily, in haste to leave the awkward dining hall.
