Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend-Chapter 571 - 165: Safety Measures! Ian’s Birthday!
The encounter in Knockturn Alley was really just an unexpected interlude.
But for Ian, who had been struggling for days without getting any of Lupin’s blood, this sort of interlude really felt like someone handing him a pillow just as he was dozing off—pure providence.
It took Ian an entire afternoon before he was satisfied enough to leave Knockturn Alley with Lupin.
"What did you do to them?" Even after spending the whole afternoon, Lupin still hadn’t recovered from the shock. He hadn’t managed to get any useful information from among those mutilated werewolves. For werewolves with their pride, being beaten up by a little wizard was a humiliation too shameful to even talk about.
"Obviously, I made sure they wholeheartedly and verbally accepted my ’great principles.’" Ian fiddled with his bulging money bag, which currently held blood samples from dozens of different werewolves.
Of course, besides the diversity of blood samples, Ian had also gotten werewolves to collect a few other body fluids for him—he was quite curious if werewolf reproductive abilities or milk were also contagious.
But in all the books he’d read about werewolf research, none of them mentioned anything like that, so the little wizard could only roll up his sleeves and fill that academic gap himself.
"What ’great principles’?" After returning to Wu Orphanage, Lupin immediately began scrubbing the blood left over in his room; the earlier brawl had left him with quite a few nonfatal injuries.
Even though he’d already tended to his wounds and cleaned most of the blood stains in his room on the way back, he still had to be extra careful. If a child accidentally came into contact with his blood, it could very well end in a catastrophe that no one could remedy.
Kids are fearless enough to put maggots in their mouths—licking unknown fluids from random places is basically standard procedure. Honestly, a lot of child poisoning incidents come from habits like these.
"Of course, that power comes from the business end of a magic wand. Truth only exists within a wand’s range... Didn’t you notice how their eyes cleared up after gaining this new understanding?" Ian stared at the vein in Lupin’s arm that would be easiest to draw blood from—he actually wanted a few more samples from someone who hadn’t taken the Spirit Awakening Potion yet.
Lupin felt a chill down his spine under the little wizard’s gaze.
"All I saw was you resorting to blatant strong-arming..."
Mentioning this, he couldn’t help but recall the sorry state the werewolves were left in.
A few Silver Sickles for lots of werewolf blood—this business barely looked better than paying him in copper Knuts. Even the Dark Wizards in Knockturn Alley wouldn’t dare exploit the werewolves like this.
"I just used a touch of American-style hegemony. The victor obviously deserves the right to set the price for their experimental materials." Ian honestly felt he was being quite generous.
At least he hadn’t rounded up the werewolves and locked them in some pen. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
If that’s not mercy, then what is?
"How much werewolf blood did you get your hands on?" Lupin didn’t even want to think about the giant syringe Ian used—it looked thicker than Lupin’s forearm.
"A few dozen pounds, maybe? Not that much."
Ian roughly estimated his spoils from this trip.
"..."
Lupin really didn’t know how to respond to an answer like that, especially since blood trades on the market were always calculated by ounce.
"What are you going to do with all that werewolf blood?"
This was the part that confused him most. He knew some experts in potions—his best friend’s beautiful wife was a potion prodigy, after all.
"I realized there might be all kinds of treasures hiding inside the werewolf virus. To decode the secrets of it, even the blood I’ve got probably won’t be enough," Ian replied, never seeing himself as just some ordinary potion refiner. He believed some scientific methods might just work on the magic side, too.
Maybe there are no bad viruses, only people who use them the wrong way.
"You really sound like you’re plotting something evil... I’m still going to report everything to Dumbledore." Lupin wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, still feeling uneasy.
Now that he’d caught his breath a little,
he was thinking deeper. The only reasonable explanation for what happened was that this little wizard’s power couldn’t be judged by normal standards at all.
No wonder he’s a Wu’s Half-Blood!
His strength is honestly terrifying!
Now that he vaguely realized he might be facing a frightening little monster, Lupin finally understood why Albus Dumbledore needed someone keeping an eye on Ian.
Not even twelve yet,
and already much stronger than adult wizards like Lupin.
In some ways, that might be even more worrying than the Demon King... At least the Demon King always had a goal in mind when he did something bad, but a little wizard? He might do it just out of curiosity!
As a former member of the biggest troublemaker team, Lupin honestly couldn’t imagine what kind of disasters a powerful little wizard could accidentally unleash!
"If you hadn’t run off so quickly, you’d be able to give an even more detailed report—you’d have seen firsthand what it means when a little wizard asserts his might and evil werewolves tremble in fear!"
Ian made no secret of bragging about his accomplishments. If Lupin hadn’t bolted from Diagon Alley to Knockturn Alley, Ian would have made sure Lupin witnessed his dazzling, heroic performance.
