Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend-Chapter 581 - 166: Banquet! Is It Time to Don the Imperial Robe?
"It’s just practicing magic, it’s not like I’m going to set London on fire, so of course, it won’t consume much magic activity," Ian replied seriously.
However.
Lupin, after hearing this response, fell into a rare silence.
His eyelids just twitched a few times.
Very wisely, he chose not to probe further into the subtext of Ian’s words.
"Tonight, I would like to have a good, peaceful sleep," Lupin said, seemingly out of nowhere, making the little wizard turn to look at him several times in surprise.
The two of them walked out of the orphanage’s front door.
The street outside was empty, yet it didn’t feel too desolate.
At this early morning hour.
The birds had begun their busy yet joyful day, with their crisp and pleasant chirping resonating like a symphony, adding a touch of vitality and life to the tranquil morning. However, a black dog squatting under a nearby tree with a piercing gaze seemed to spoil the otherwise beautiful scenery.
"Huh?"
Lupin glanced at this black dog several times.
His expression was somewhat puzzled.
At this moment, Ian, dragging a small suitcase, had already taken out his magic wand. He didn’t use any magic; he just raised the wand and stood quietly where he was.
Going to Wiltshire wasn’t difficult; Muggle transportation could reach it, though clearly, Muggle buses wouldn’t have a stop at the Greengrass Clan’s residence.
Therefore.
The most common means of transportation in the wizarding world was undoubtedly the best choice, and it was also the mode of travel Ian had planned to use before—the elusive Knight Bus would always respond to any wizard in need of assistance.
In terms of both speed and price, the Knight Bus was the first choice for wizards’ travel. It moved incredibly fast, and any obstacles in its path automatically jumped aside to avoid it.
The method to board the Knight Bus was to extend your magic wand into the air, similar to how Muggles hail a taxi, which is a unique mode of transport Ian had long wanted to experience.
"Toot toot~"
"Clack~"
Compared to waiting for a train at the station, the Knight Bus indeed offered convenience. Ian only had to raise his wand for a couple of minutes when the sound of a horn and an ear-piercing brake screech rang out. Along with this came a purple triple-decker bus, with "Knight Bus" written in gold letters on its windshield.
"No matter when, as long as you stand by the roadside and raise your wand, the Knight Bus will appear to take you to wherever you want to go."
"Of course, we don’t go into the sea or lava. My name is Stan Shunpike, and today I am your conductor, serving you throughout this journey." As the door opened, a cheerful voice rang out, belonging to a young wizard with flamboyant ears, a face full of pimples and freckles, and an exuberant demeanor.
"Amazing, do you have some device on your bus that escapes time?" Ian was quite curious about this magical bus that appeared whenever needed.
After boarding the bus with Lupin, he asked with excitement from an alchemist’s perspective. However, the ticket seller, named Stan Shunpike, only gave him a clear smile. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Sir, if I could answer your question, would I still need to be working here as a ticket seller?" His words were genuinely irrefutable and full of logic.
"Alright then."
Ian looked toward the driver, an elderly wizard wearing glasses with very thick lenses. The name on the badge in front of him read:
Ern Plan.
"I’m just the driver."
In response to the little wizard’s curiosity, his answer was also quite concise and straightforward. It was obvious that the driver, like the ticket seller, was dedicated to his job, having no knowledge outside of his own field.
"When I have time, I’ll get one to study; Professor Nicolas Flamel must know the secrets of the Knight Bus." Ian thought to himself, still curious, as he and Lupin headed to the back.
"Where are you going?"
The conductor took out a thick stack of tickets and looked at Lupin, who was obviously an adult. This subconscious action made Lupin, who had no money, quite embarrassed.
"This little one here is the one paying..."
Lupin’s tone was a bit awkward, his face slightly flushed, and his voice so weak it was like a flying mosquito, as if afraid of other passengers overhearing.
"Got it."
The conductor’s smile remained unchanged as he turned to Ian. Whatever his real thoughts were, his display of professional demeanor was impeccable.
"Green Manor in Wiltshire," Ian stated his destination, simultaneously pulling out his money bag, silently marking Lupin down for a debt of nine-fifths upon return.
"The fare is sixteen Sickles in total, and if each of you pays an extra three Sickles, you can get a cup of hot chocolate. For an extra five, there’s also lunch."
The conductor was issuing the tickets while promoting the additional services.
"Then two hot chocolates for us," Ian’s generous gesture left Lupin quite surprised; clearly, Lupin hadn’t realized the sizable debt Ian had recorded for him mentally.
The down-and-out werewolf thought the ticket and hot chocolate were Ian’s treat, little realizing that after doing the math, Ian found that not only did the journey cost him nothing, but he actually stood to make quite a bit.
