Chapter 521 Call me Big sister, alright?-2

" It hurts, right? Basmus, go ask someone to bring cold water and some ice." Oscar inspected Anya's face and could see it began to swell up substantially. His heart ached looking at her. Karoline didn't need to hit her this hard, but it was justified in his opinion.

"um.." Basmus, who was feeling anxious, not knowing what was happening, left quickly. He was a strong kid, but looking at his big sister's face almost made him cry. After all, they were too young to control their emotions. 𝐛𝗲𝐝𝐧𝗼𝐯𝐞𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝗺

" Anya, sit down. Let me see your face," he asked.

"No."

" Are you mad at your mother for hitting you?" He asked directly, to which she stayed silent. She couldn't remember anyone hitting her or even lightly slapping her hand. So it was not a surprise that she was still in shock that her mother hit her for an orphan that she barely knew!

" You know, if I were to do it, it would have hurt a lot more, not to mention when Sami finds out about it. I don't imagine how he will deal with you two."

"..." She was a little scared thinking about it.

" You have heard many stories about him, right? But there is a myth that he dislikes bad children the most. So you will be first on his list!" He tried to get her mind off so that she wouldn't concentrate on the pain.

" Why?" She whispered.

" I thought he already warned you not to bully Elise. Saying that they didn't have any parents to a little girl is a lot meaner if you really don't have any." She paused to see she was still unconvinced. She was definitely stubborn like her mother!

" What do you think about the people that work in this place?"

" You mean maids and butler?"

" Right; why do you think they work with a smile on their face?"

" Obviously, because they are getting money. Isn't it how business works? You pay for them to provide services." Anya was brief but concise, which showed her intellect.

" Good; now, if one day you meet one of them that you are acquainted with on the street and they are in trouble, will you help them?"

" Are they getting attacked?"

" No."

" Then, no. If I am out in the city, I am probably on some important business trip like shopping. It would be a shame if I went out of my way to help them, right?"

" That may be so, but what if roles got reversed, and now you are in trouble, and you spot them walking in the street."

" I will demand them to help me and pay them for their help. Plain and simple." She said without any hesitation.

" What if they refused? Remember, you didn't help them either." He pointed it out for her.

" How dare they? Did they not know who I am? They had to help me; isn't that their job?"

" Why should they? They are already paid enough, and with you not showing them respect, it means you don't value them enough. Even in this place, there is not one person who is not proud to be working for the Rothschild family because they know that every family member respects them as a human being."

" Doesn't that mean they only want the benefits of working under them?"

" That may be so, but they also knew that their families would always be safe, and even if they were a gardener, no one would berate them about their choice of work. It's called loyalty, which is hard to come by." He didn't know if she understood or not.

" I always refrained from talking about me and your mother, but I think you are old enough to know about it. Your mother struggled a lot when she was young. She must be right around your age when she lost her father."

" She grew up in turbulent times, and as soon as she was a teenager, she had to join the military to feed her family. Your uncle was too small then, and your grandma was sick most of the time. She had to endure a lot."

" Why?" She asked in a low voice.

" Because she wanted a better future for herself and her family. She traveled the world and avoided telling anyone about her family to keep them safe. She was basically an orphan with living family members. With you saying such bad things to Elise, it must have scratched some deep past scars."

" I d-didn't know." She was shocked.

" Of course you didn't. She never told me everything, fearing it would hurt me to learn the truth, but I was the same too."

" Same?"

" Yes, I didn't know that my parents existed till I met Sami. It was a long story, but we were able to eventually find my mother, your grandma Olivia. It was a stroke of luck that I met your mother. We actually didn't get along for long when we first met." Oscar pulled out some wet towels the maids brought and started rinsing her cheeks, but she was completely immersed in her parent's love story.

" Really?" She asked.

" Yeah, it was a miracle that we could get together. Most of it wouldn't be possible if it weren't for Sami, but that's beside the point. I wanted you to understand why your mother hit you in the first place."

" It is hard to be alone, and if someone points at it, it really hurts. Do you understand?"

" Yes, father."

" Promise you won't do anything like it in the future and will apologize to Elise and your mother sincerely."

" I promise." She didn't feel any shame to admit that she was wrong. Oscar literally spelled it out for her, and it would be a blasphemy of her intellect if she didn't understand his intentions.

" Since you've been a good girl, I will tell you a secret." He smiled and started telling her more about Samuel's history.

...

...

...

" That's impossible! I never heard anything about it. You are saying that Big Brother was adopted?" In another room, Graysen was facing her mother, Laura, who was telling him about the exact same thing.

" It is true that you are not blood-related." Laura thought it was time for her son to know about it. She had heard about what happened with Elise, and for the first time, she ignored it because it was a spat between kids, but the same thing happened again.

She was shocked to hear that Graysen fought with Samuel, too. Before it got overhand, she was ready to squash whatever beef they had smoothly.
