Hollywood Zenith-Chapter 652: Surprise-1

Samuel didn't see Kate's name among the list. He didn't know if Jane knows why he asked her to research about Brett. Though it was his style to do some occasional 'humanitarian' work, this time it was personal so he asked her about it.

" Are you talking about your date? Don't tell me.."

" Something like that, her story is similar but I see that he upgraded his 'style' over the years. It's like once the seed of destruction is planted inside of him and knowing that he could get away unscathed he became more bolder."

As he expected, Jane wasn't aware of it. It was understandable as it happened at least a decade ago. With Kate simply moving away to countryside, there wasn't any hard documents on what happened to her.

" I am sorry to hear that. I only thought that he was harassing her at first through the reports but it was much deeper than that." She acknowledge why Samuel was so serious about the issue.

" You don't have to feel sorry for her. You guys haven't met but I have a feeling that you will like her because of her stubborn and charming personality. When I left today, she was feeling much more cheerful so I guess it will be fine as long as she didn't meet him in the future."

" Should we just.." She motioned running finger across her neck dawning a menacing smile.

" That would be a easy route for him. I really want him to suffer but it seems impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff." He was thinking of a way but no roads seemed to separate pushing him without dragging in his family. He had to devise a better plan in coming days. But Jane was ready to go out probably because he didn't like the guy.

" Beside, we still have our enemy lurking in the shadows. We should make any rash move for couple of weeks."

" Right, I almost forgot about it. They were pretty brazen to openly question you in public. I mean, I still don't know why they went with that."

" That's a good question. Maybe they are telling us that we are being watched or they are preparing to make their move. It's understandable with what happened with Steve's recent mission to Bolivia." He added. It was their craftiness that made them dangerous, he was hoping to get more information out of them in coming months but for now, he asked everyone to be on standby.

" Since we are on the topic of Bolivia. I am pleased to inform that I got a clue about Elise."

" Are you sure?" He exclaimed. He almost lost hope for her since Jane was coming empty handed for last couple of weeks but it seemed like she was able to ultimately find something.

" I am not sure yet since everyone flew home few days ago but one of our local contacts did explicitly identified Elise as one of people that passed through the region to go toward central Europe."

" I don't understand. Wasn't she European to begin with?" Samuel was confused.

He and his team had been looking around in central Europe trying to dismantle the large human trafficking ring in an effort to find more about Elise's origins. With her golden blonde hair and pale blue eyes, they thought she was definitely from places around it.

" He didn't know much just said that the people with her said they passed through Bulgaria and were heading toward either Germany or France. He didn't know what happened to them since they left in a hurry."

" What happened to them? Were they her parents?"

" Unfortunately he didn't know but he is positive because they acted like a family in the local refugee camp."

" Did he at least tell you how long ago was this?"

" Less than two years."

Samuel was lost in thought again. It didn't make any sense, the only other possibility was that Elise was not originally from where they thought she was. Bulgaria was adjacent to the black sea with rest of it's border being shared with Turkey and Romania.

It was fairly safe to assume that she was born somewhere around Russia or Middle east but he was leaning more toward the former just on the basis of her appearance.

" Good work. Just not tell the girls right now, it would be better if we find her parents or any relatives before breaking the news."

" I think so too. I will send people to hunt for more clues after the holiday but if you feel it's urgent-"

" No let them take rest and enjoy the holiday but ask our foreign contacts to keep looking. Also employ few 'freelancers' that are willing to take the risk. Don't worry about the money just find someone reliable."

" I will do that."

" After that take the week off."

" Pardon?"

" I know your anniversary is coming up. I will arrange some things for you and Steve it's been some time since you guys taken proper vacation right?"

" I don't think that necessary boss, with everything that has been happening-"

" Don't worry about it. We can survive for a week without you guys."

In the end Jane had to accept it. She knew how stubborn her boss was and if he made up his mind about something it was set in stone unless he himself changes his mind. It was some of his qualities that glued their Night Owl group together.

The pros were too alluring, a nice boss, so many amenities that they couldn't even count coupled with best working environment that they could hope for.

" I will take these with me." Samuel gathered the papers putting it into a spare bag for him to read for leisure.

" Are you heading home then? Main mansion or.."

" Why is there something you are not telling me?" She never asked him about these things before which made him a little suspicious.

" No, no. You should head home first, after a busy night I feel like you should take a rest for few days."

" Alright, thanks for caring." He didn't thought much of it and simply drove home craving to see the girls.
