Chapter 113 - Conflict In The East

(Third Person POV)

[Somewhere In Essos]

A village was in flames, screams and cries were heard all throughout the air as many men were running down the villagers. The innocents were being cut down by men who were clad in armor, wielding swords and spears.

The women who were unable to escape were captured and thrown into cages as the men who tried fighting back were torn into pieces, the men that had raided the village viciously slaughtered them all.

A woman had fallen onto the mud, crawling away as several of the raiders were making their way towards her.

"Nononono...." She cried, "Please don't...."

The men grabbed her legs and dragged her towards a cage as she wept, tears running down her muddy face as she tried to hold on to the ground.

As they tossed her into a cage with other women, a man charged at the raiders with a makeshift spear made out of wood.

"Leave them be!!!!" the man bellowed as he was about to hit one of them

He was hit in the eye with an arrow, fired from the opposite direction. The arrow had pierce him completely and he immediately collapsed to the ground, dead. The raiders who had thrown the woman into the cage looked to the side and see one of their comrades holding a bow up.

They then watched as another man was being stabbed to death by others as a building collapsed, the flames crackling as embers flew into the sky.

A man was then seen stumbling into the middle of the village, holding his thigh as it bled.

"You monsters!!!" He bellowed, "Why must you do something like this!!!"

Suddenly, he was stabbed in the back by a blade, being held by a dark-skinned man with white hair.

"Because there is no other choice...." the man said as he pulled the blade out, "Because it is our curse."

The man collapsed to the ground, bleeding to death.

The man who held the sword merely looked down at him with an emotionless stare.

He then flicked the sword to the side, spraying the blood on the ground.

This man was Corlys Velaryon, who Drakken cursed to roam Essos in a bloodlust frenzy. The God of War and Death cursed the Sea Snake to constantly kill and kill, earning a bad reputation for his epithet, spreading chaos and fear all over the East.

Corlys looked over at the cages that held women, "Where are the children?" He asked one of his men

"They are in other cages." his men told him

"Very well." He said, "We will continue our onslaught on the village that is next to this one. It is around fifty miles to the south."

"Lord Corlys!" one of his men called, "This is something you should see!"

Corlys looked over to the side, seeing that past a burning building, one of his men was gesturing him over.

The Sea Snake then walked over and reached where he was being called from.

"What is it?" He said with a scowl, "We do not have time for this."

The man pointed at a villager who was hunched over an object that was glowing brightly, a strange feeling being given off.

"He does not budge." He said, "He keeps saying it is a precious object that if he gives it up, the world will end."

Corlys frowned, "What....?" He said as he walked over to the man, "Hey, what is it you hide?"

"Nononono..." He said, "This came from the stars, I cannot give it up!!"

"The Stars....?" Corlys said, "Hand it over."

"Nonononono." The villager said, "You do not understand, if I let it go, the world will burn to ashes!!!"

Corlys sighed, "If you say so." He said as he swung his sword down at the man's neck

The blade cleaved through the man's neck, chopping it off and as it rolled on the ground, the man's body collapsed down to the ground.

"It is that easy." Corlys told his subordinate

"Well..." the man said

Corlys then kicked the man's body over and exposed what looked like a piece of metal that was glowing brightly.

He reached down and picked it up, "Interesting..." he said, "I wonder what this is.....it gives off a strange hum."

His subordinate inched closer, squinting down and seeing that there were engravings on the metal.

"What is that? Valyrian?" He asked, "The wording...."

Corlys looked at where he was referring to, seeing that there was Old Valyrian engraving on it.

"Hm..." He said, "It says.....The End of Death."

"The End of Death?" his subordinate said, "What could that mean?"

"I do not know." Corlys said, "It matters not."

"This one said it came from the stars, do you know what he meant?" He asked Corlys

"Not necessarily..." He said, "But I heard rumors....."

"Rumors....?" the man asked

"Drakken, the supposed God of War and Death, the one who cursed me...." Corlys said, "He came from the Stars....."

"I do remember a star falling years ago...." the man said, "You think this piece of metal comes from a similar star?"

"I do not know...." Corlys said, "It is a strange coincidence....it has Valyrian Engraving....I wonder what that could mean...."

"Was Drakken not in Essos recently?" the man asked him, "I heard he was slaughtering people in Andalos."

"Hm...." Corlys said, "I heard another star fell near Andalos.....could he have been searching whatever.....or whoever came from this Star?"

"It is a possibility..." He said, "What could that mean?"

"The End of Death...." Corlys said, "This could work in our favor...."

*************

[Harrenhal]

"You are being too forceful." I told Maegelle as she sat down in the couch, holding Sylas, "How dare you tell me that your Mother should say more in my home."

She smiled at the boy, who was looking at her, "I apologize, My Lord." She said, "I simply wish to spend time with my Mother. Is that too much to ask?"

I walked over to her, "Yes." I said, "You know that I do not like it when she overstays her welcome. She acts like she owns the place, you know how that bothers me. The last time, she was snooping around too much. She has been asking many questions. Tell me, Maegelle, have you told her about Lyssa? About the Dark Shade?"

She did not look at me, "No." she said, "I have not."

"That better be the case." I said as I looked at Sylas, "You have become more interested in my son."

"I am fond of them, both your sons." She said, "Is that wrong?"

"If you have the motherly instinct forming, you might as well bear me a child." I told her, "Son or daughter, I do not care. They will be treated well, better than you could imagine."

"If you have a daughter, you will treat her well?" She asked as she looked at me

"That is what I said." I said as I stepped back, "Why do you ask?"

"No reason." She said with a slight smile, "I like this, Lord Drakken. Peace..."

"Peace?" I asked, "Is that so?"

"Yes." She said, "Thank you for this. I like holding your son in my arms, I like spending time with Lord Riktor and hearing his joyful and mischievous laughter. I am happy.....is it too much to ask for you not to ruin that?"

"Hm...." I said, "No."

"Then please, My Lord." She said, "Do not ruin it."

"Tch..." I said as I turned around, "Ruin it?"

"Think what you want."
