How Did I Become an F1 Driver?-Chapter 77 - 71: A Successful Flex
Chapter 77: Chapter 71: A Successful Flex
When Qin Miao got home, his mom wasn’t off work yet, so he parked the car at the front door.
Then Qin Miao went back into his house and took out the newly bought water bottle from the trunk, taking it to the kitchen to give it a wash.
Qin Miao once again directed his thoughts towards the system, found the three Health Potion (Blue) options, and extracted one portion of the Health Potion.
After extracting, Qin Miao thought what would appear in his hand would be a Red Bull-like drink, just like the things given during the 10-time white lottery.
But with a "thud!" sound.
A common household 18.9-liter mineral water barrel directly dropped by Qin Miao’s foot.
Qin Miao: Seriously?
This blue lottery gift is really like a divine old farting—extraordinary!
Qin Miao was still puzzled about what the difference is between the blue lottery potion and the white lottery potion.
Now with the appearance of this "barrel" potion, the difference immediately became clear.
The potion’s appearance was exactly like a regular mineral water barrel, except it didn’t have any product label on it, just an ordinary mineral water barrel.
Qin Miao looked at the water barrel on his own water dispenser, there was just a bit left, so he used his mom’s cup to pour out all the remaining water in it, then directly put the Health Potion given by the system on the dispenser.
After Qin Miao and Qimeng drank the potion, they didn’t feel any discomfort, they even found it quite tasty, and from the potion’s name, it’s supposed to be somewhat beneficial to the body, so Qin Miao felt it was safe for his mom to drink as well.
After filling up his own water bottle, Qin Miao went out to sit under the cool shade of the tree where the group of aunties often gathered, waiting for his mom to get off work.
From time to time, he took a sip of the sweet and endlessly refreshing Health Potion.
At this moment, some children also gathered around Qin Miao, asking him all sorts of questions mainly about his Ferrari.
Qin Miao picked some topics he could talk about to clarify things for these kids.
Suddenly, a very familiar yet somewhat distant voice reached Qin Miao’s ears: "Qin Miao?"
Turning his head, he saw a very familiar graceful silhouette appearing at the stairway of his building.
Qin Miao raised an eyebrow: "Fan Yue?"
If he hadn’t been with Qimeng or if he had been with Qimeng but she hadn’t deeply moved him time and again with her actions, then seeing Fan Yue now would surely make Qin Miao tongue-tied with excitement and his heart tumultuous.
He would feel that Fan Yue’s appearance was like a non-dazzling, warm light appearing in the dark, pitch-black night.
Yet before Fan Yue’s beam of light could shine into Qin Miao’s heart, Qimeng had already thrown a blazing fire in there, making Qin Miao’s heart as bright as day.
So now facing Fan Yue, who once haunted his dreams, Qin Miao’s heart didn’t stir much.
He was just a bit surprised to encounter her here.
"What are you doing here?"*2
Both of them almost simultaneously asked each other.
"My family lives here."
"I just moved in."
With that, they exchanged their updates.
Qin Miao shook his head with a smile and said, "I honestly didn’t expect that one day I’d become neighbors with the vice class president like you."
"But I haven’t heard my mom mention anyone nearby moving out recently, which apartment are you in?"
At this point, Zicheng beside Qin Miao said: "Sanshui brother, when you went to Changsha, Uncle Zhang, who lived across from you, moved out."
Qin Miao was taken aback, then nodded thoughtfully.
Uncle Zhang who lived across from Qin Miao’s house operated a business outside, and it was heard he made quite a bit of money, moving out was just a matter of time.
But Qin Miao never expected that the person moving in would be a schoolmate of his own.
As they talked, Fan Yue also walked under the tree shade, and Qin Miao curiously asked, "Where’s Zhu Hong?"
Fan Yue replied with an embarrassed smile: "He’s at home, moving wasn’t convenient for him to come and help."
Only then did Qin Miao realize that ultimately they were still just students, not yet real college students.
Their parents may not necessarily approve of them dating so early, not everyone is as open-minded as Qin Miao’s mom.
Nodding thoughtfully, Qin Miao pulled up a chair for Fan Yue and said, "Have a seat, from now on we’re neighbors, they say distant kinship doesn’t compare to nearby neighbors, let’s take care of each other."
Then Qin Miao also introduced to the little kids in the community: "This is my classmate, her name is Fan Yue, you can just call her Sister Fan."
The little kids didn’t stand on ceremony, calling her "Sister Fan" with great familiarity.
Fan Yue originally intended to come out and meet these children, with lots of candies in her pocket.
Seeing these kids calling her so affectionately, she happily handed out candies to them.
The group of kids who got the candy curiously gathered around Fan Yue and started bombarding her with questions.
Qin Miao checked the time; with his mom’s pace, she’d be home in about five minutes. It was time to pick her up for dinner.
Qin Miao hadn’t planned to invite Fan Yue to dinner. After all, they lost touch right after graduation, and Qin Miao hadn’t even kept up with the class chat group.
If Qin Miao were still single, he might have, out of some unrealistic fantasy, tried to invite Fan Yue for dinner or something. But now... they were really not that close.
"Class leader, it’s almost dinner time, and I have an appointment, so I’ll take my leave first." Qin Miao pointed at the time on his phone for Fan Yue, making his intentions quite clear.
Fan Yue nodded: "Okay, let’s chat some other time."
Qin Miao nodded back with a smile, then gently pushed a few of the little rascals aside and walked to his Ferrari, under the astonished gaze of Fan Yue.
Though Qin Miao didn’t turn around, he clearly felt Fan Yue’s gaze, and he also felt the hairs on his body standing up.
It wasn’t because Qin Miao was nervous or scared; it was purely the thrill of showing off successfully in front of someone he once cared about.
Damn it, you should’ve picked me back then! Bet you didn’t expect this, huh? Brother’s driving a Ferrari!
As Qin Miao sat down in the car, he shivered slightly as if he had just finished using the restroom, then tilted his head slightly to look in the rearview mirror towards where Fan Yue was standing.
He needed to make sure his act was complete.
The scene in the rearview mirror made Qin Miao feel satisfied.
Even though things and people in the rearview mirror looked much smaller, Qin Miao, being a driver with excellent vision, could clearly see the astonishment and confusion on Fan Yue’s face.
Seeing this expression on her face made Qin Miao let out a deep breath.
"That feels good~"
He cheerfully started the engine, shifted gears, and gently accelerated out of the community.
Fan Yue was indeed shocked by Qin Miao’s Ferrari.
Everyone’s young these days, and with the internet being so developed, everyone knows about Ferrari and its exorbitant price.
But no matter how much Fan Yue racked her brains, she couldn’t understand how Qin Miao, who always seemed so ordinary like any regular working-class person, was driving a Ferrari?
Fan Yue felt unable to process this.
Then she turned to the group of kids, frowning in curiosity, and asked, "Does your brother Qin Miao usually drive a Ferrari?"
"No, brother Qin Miao drove it back from Changsha."
The kids didn’t have thoughts that complex; they just knew that Sanshui said this big sister was his classmate, and since this big sister gave them candy, she was a good person!
Hearing the kids’ explanation, Fan Yue’s eyes were full of contemplation, and she started calculating in her mind.
Qin Miao wasn’t aware of what was happening behind him after he left. He drove the car to the community entrance to pick up his mom.
However, it would be more accurate to say his mom found Qin Miao.
After all, in third-tier cities like where Qin Miao lived, there was probably only one Ferrari 488 like his.
Seeing this car parked at the community entrance without the engine off, it was most likely waiting for her.
Qin Miao’s mom had a very clear train of thought.
He took his mom to a restaurant, where he almost became invisible, while Qimeng seemed like the true daughter to Qin Miao’s mom.
She took care of Qimeng with all her heart during the meal.
Qin Miao gradually got used to his mom’s attitude when Qimeng was around, looking at all of it quite nonchalantly.
After the meal, his mom eagerly drove the car away, wanting to experience firsthand what it’s like to drive this over six-million-yuan supercar.
And Qin Miao could only walk Qimeng home.
...
"Fan Yue moved across from my place."
On the way to walking Qimeng home, Qin Miao mentioned this.
Qimeng knew that Qin Miao had a crush on Fan Yue when they were in school, and Qin Miao was well aware of this point, but he wasn’t going to hide it. He just straightforwardly talked about it and added, "But I didn’t talk much with her; there shouldn’t be too many chances to interact in the future."
"Huh?" Qimeng was quite surprised: "Why did she suddenly move near your place? When did that happen?"
"Just today, remember the truck that was blocking the road when we left this morning? That was her family’s moving company."
"Oh, at that time. I didn’t expect that this would happen; it’s such a coincidence." Qimeng appeared very surprised.
However, Qin Miao noticed something amiss. In theory, Qimeng knew that he once liked Fan Yue, but now she showed no emotions other than surprise. Wasn’t she worried that he might rekindle those love flames for Fan Yue?
Of course, it might be that Qimeng had plenty of confidence in her charm and also a great trust in Qin Miao, not worrying that he would stray.
Qin Miao didn’t focus too much on this odd point, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the subtle feeling of excitement from having a loved one by his side—those were the things most important to Qin Miao.
