How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World-Chapter 159: Search for the Star-First Half
— Meanwhile - Thousand Treasure City —
At a scenic location not far from Thousand Treasure City, amidst a variety of flowers atop a cloud peak cliff, stood a gazebo shaded by nearby plum blossom trees in full bloom.
Plum blossom petals drifted through the air as the wind brushed against the delicate branches, coloring the view of the graceful figure inside the gazebo.
A dainty white hand, like a sculpture crafted by the gods, touched the strings of a zither, playing a song filled with sorrow and melancholy. Her features were like a painting of a goddess, her grace descending upon the mundane world.
Dream Butterfly played the song she had composed with all her heart amidst the dreamlike scenery. As her fingers glided across the strings, the melody touched the hearts of the onlookers.
Mo Xingyao was recording the scene using a watered down version of the broadcasting orb called a Visage Recording Orb, which Wei Chen had redeemed from the shop for her use.
In terms of recording and video editing, it had all the functions of the broadcasting orb that Wei Chen possessed, except for the storage function and anything related to the underworld.
The song touched Mo Xingyao’s heart, along with the staff who had come with her. They were all gripped by the magic of the music, unable to take their eyes off the goddess-like figure in the gazebo.
The song slowly came to an end, and the onlookers seemed to regain their senses, as if their breath had been returned to them only after the final note faded.
"Ah?" Mo Xingyao was startled. She never expected that she herself would fall into this stunning performance.
"CUUUUUUT! Cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, CUT!!" she shouted enthusiastically, repeatedly beating a paper speaking trumpet against her palm before pointing it at Dream Butterfly.
"You! You are a genius, a natural genius! How could you come up with this piece of music?" Mo Xingyao asked excitedly.
The crowd, or rather the staff who had come with Mo Xingyao to help film the advertisement, also applauded the performance. They had never expected to witness such a beautiful piece of music themselves.
Dream Butterfly let out a gentle smile and slowly stood up from her seat. The staff stepped forward to pack up the zither and place it inside a wooden chest covered with myriad seals to slow its natural degradation.
"This song came from my heart, Sister Yaoyao. After I read the script that Lord Wei prepared for this advertisement, my heart nearly burst with inspiration. I simply thought, if I were the Cloud Immortal Princess and was forbidden from descending from Heaven to meet Mr. Wei, what would I feel?"
"Thus, I came up with this piece of music," Dream Butterfly replied humbly.
"Yeah... you’re right," Mo Xingyao murmured. Inside her mind, she wondered what she would feel if that ever happened to her.
Unknown to her, her usual jubilant and mischievous expression gradually calmed as she imagined such a scenario. Her face now carried a melancholic beauty, a rare moment where her charm shifted from her lively self to something softer and more sorrowful.
Many of the onlookers and the people from the Thousand Treasure Pavilion who had come to help with the filming felt as though they were witnessing another side of their mistress.
Some young men blushed, but in the next moment they felt like cursing the heavens, because the calm beauty before them was about to be engaged to that damn vagabond next month.
Mo Xingyao admitted that if it had been before she fell for that joker bastard, she would have shrugged and not cared. But now? She did not know.
Yet when she thought about that punchable face and that smug grin, she suddenly grew angry, even as her heart fluttered and she felt the urge to bite that guy.
When she regained her senses, she noticed Dream Butterfly smiling at her with a knowing look.
"What?" Mo Xingyao blurted out.
"You were thinking about him, weren’t you, Sister Yaoyao?" she said with a gentle smile.
"Hmph! Who would think about that guy? That kind of joker without any young master refinement. Despite the fact that he is the young master of an Ancient Hidden Clan, who would..."
Before she could continue, Dream Butterfly’s smile turned mischievous.
"Oh? But I meant Lord Mo Jue, your father. Who were you thinking about just now, hmm? I wonder?"
Hearing the teasing tone, Mo Xingyao’s face turned red.
"You! You! I’ll tickle you until you beg for mercy!" Mo Xingyao pounced on Dream Butterfly and punished her little sister once again.
After the two of them fooled around for a while, Mo Xingyao finally calmed down and sat in the gazebo beside Dream Butterfly.
"Yu’er, do you know any child performers who can act? At the very least, they need to be in the Qi Refining Realm," Mo Xingyao asked.
Dream Butterfly shook her head. "No... all the children I know are courtesan apprentices. As the name suggests, they are only apprentices," she continued.
"Besides, even if they can act, they would not be able to pull off the natural charm of happy children. They were trained in the art of reception to become courtesans. They are not like other children," Dream Butterfly explained.
"Ummm... is that so?" Mo Xingyao grumbled thoughtfully.
The child actor was the problem she still could not solve for this advertisement filming. She could use a courtesan apprentice, but as Dream Butterfly said, the bright and joyful charm of children could not be found in them.
She could forget about using ordinary children because of the cultivation requirement. Should she search among the clan children in Thousand Treasure City? Hmmm... that would take time, and honestly, she did not want to yield even a little benefit to those clans.
Mo Xingyao fell into thought. Then she remembered a report her subordinates had given her. It was regarding the child that Wei Chen had been taking care of. Maybe she would fit the role.
But how could she find that child? That was the problem. Maybe she should make a call to that joker, Wei Chen.
