How To End This Marriage-Chapter 188: Broken Promises
"Father, did you call here to arrange about my coronation?" Sylvia asked.
"Yes, princess. I don’t want to delay any longer. I will do the coronation now," he said and started discussing with the priest. While Sylvia came out of the chamber, something was building inside her.
She looked at the leaving entrance of the tribal empire, finding the crown prince Maximus had already left, which made her speak. "This is the right way. He needs his throne, so do I. This relationship could never go beyond this."
She said and walked back to her chamber, but tears fell on her eyes when, after so long a time, Marcus Fulcinius Eumenius, the supreme god, appeared before her, holding her tightly.
"What are you doing? Didn’t I say I’m not your sister?" Sylvia said, trying to push him away. But Marcus didn’t let her. He used magic to make something play on a screen, letting her see the truth.
"You might have forgotten everything, but I didn’t. I didn’t forget that you are my sister. For a moment, I was blinded by power and forgot that there was someone of my own, but I have remembered. You are my sister, the heavenly princess." Marcus said while showing her a view of the heavenly realm.
Sylvia came forward, looking at herself wearing a princess-like attire that made her look no less than a fairy. She found herself pulled inside the scene, looking at her own self dancing in happiness amidst the clouds filled with the heavenly realm.
"Is it really me? Is it really me as the heavenly princess?" she mumbled, and went ahead, following the previous Sylvia who went to the tree where a boy was sitting reading a book.
"Hey, what are you doing here? Whenever I find you, you’re always holding a book in your hand. Why are you so studious?" the other Sylvia asked.
"Because I’m going to study and be the successor of the father. I’m not a proper god who will have power, so knowledge is my power. So don’t disturb me if you don’t want to study," the boy spoke, but his face wasn’t visible.
"Oh, you’re pushing me away now?" the other Sylvia said, trying to take the book from the boy’s hand and started running around the tree, teasing him. But soon, he caught her and pulled her by her waist, holding her closer.
"Weren’t you jumping like those rabbits of the mortal realm? Where did the rabbit go then? Are you feeling shy now, my princess?" the boy said, while trying to close in on her and bite her ear.
"If you can’t handle this much, then you shouldn’t mess with me, princess," the boy said, with his face soon becoming clearer, revealing a striking resemblance to the crown prince Maximus.
Sylvia was stunned. She stammered.
"No, no, it can’t be. Me and the crown prince here? In the heavenly realm?"
"How could it be possible?" Sylvia said, trying to speak and going nearer to touch them, but suddenly the scene changed, sending her to the scene of the supreme god Marcus slaughtering all the gods with his bare hands.
"Brother, don’t do this! If you do this, we will lose everything. Please don’t do this," the other Sylvia cried, trying to hold onto Marcus.
"Brother, I know you’re sad that they’ve given such a punishment to her. I know you can’t see her pain, but what have these gods done? They have no role in it," Sylvia pleaded.
"They have no role in it? How did you know?"
"How did you know that they have no role in it when it clearly happened when all of the gods were present, but still no one listened to my request? They didn’t spare her," Sylvia begged.
"So, I’m not going to spare anyone either," Marcus said, moving forward. When the crown prince, who was a small god, appeared before him, requesting him to take back the sword and abandon the path he had taken, Marcus didn’t listen. He raised his sword and pierced it through the stomach of the crown prince, making him fall to the ground. Sylvia screamed in pain.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!!!" Sylvia and the other Sylvia both screamed loudly.
"Brother, what have you done? Brother, what have you done? How could you kill him? You killed mother, you killed several gods, and now you killed the love of my life also? How could you do this, brother? How could you do this? You haven’t kept my word. I still stood by your side even though you took the wrong path but now you made me see this brutal scene." Other Sylvia said.
"You killed him. Now I don’t have any option to stay here. I myself will take my life." Sylvia said, taking her sword to her throat.
"Sylvia, stop it!" Marcus begged, but it was too late. Sylvia raised her sword and slit her throat, falling on the ground. Her body didn’t stay in the heavenly realm but fell to the mortal world.
Even though Marcus was left with only a scream, she died with a smile on her face.
"This is my promise to you, brother. I’m never going to return to this realm ever. The relationship is never going to be similar to what we had before," the other Sylvia said as she closed her eyes.
Soon, Sylvia came back to the real world with tears streaming down her face and sobbed nonstop.
"You killed him! You killed him! You are a criminal! You are not my brother! You killed him!" Sylvia cried continuously.
"I apologize for my crime," Marcus said while reaching out to touch her head.
"I don’t need your apology! I said don’t touch me! You are not my brother. I have kept my promise. I’m never going to the heavenly realm ever. And the relationship is not going to be like before at all. So leave me. Now that you’ve shown me what I’ve forgotten, everything is over, great supreme god Marcus," Sylvia said.
