Chapter 708: Chapter 708: Amon in the World of Harry Potter

"Mm, I suppose I am a little moved."

Edward remained calm and unhurried as he casually asked, "Didn’t you take Klein to the Forsaken Land of the Gods?"

"Oh, that was just one of my avatars," Amon replied, speaking as he reached out toward Edward several times in succession. "It was merely to lure Lilith over."

"How did you know that I would let Lilith—"

Edward stopped halfway through his sentence, suddenly realising something. "Oh...Grisha Adam?"

Amon gave a soft hum in response.

"You’re not completely stupid."

"But that still doesn’t make sense."

"He was acting entirely out of goodwill," Amon said with a smile. "On one hand, it was to create an opportunity for me to advance to ’Error.’ On the other hand, it was because he was afraid Lilith would interfere and turn things into something uncontrollable."

"After all," he continued lightly, "if Lilith were to discover that her so-called ’grand scheme,’ which she had laid out for so long, ended up benefiting someone else...she would definitely go mad."

With such a blatant hint, Edward immediately understood. "You completed your advancement during someone else’s Red Priest apotheosis ritual? Who was it—Medici?"

"Not telling."

Pinching the monocle at his right eye, Amon smiled faintly.

"I’ve found a loophole."

He reached out with one hand, instantly completing the theft of Edward’s vitality, abilities, thoughts, and every other aspect of his being.

Yet at that very moment, Edward’s body writhed strangely before transforming into a Worm of Star, which flew straight into Amon’s hand.

"...Tch. This feels rather humiliating," Amon said flatly, gripping the squirming Worm of Star. "Getting deceived by your illusions again."

"But this time," he added calmly, "you’re being far too naïve."

As he spoke, Amon directly confused the relationship between the Worm of Star and Edward’s true body, causing all actions performed upon the Star Worm to be treated as actions performed upon Edward himself.

At that instant, illusory doors appeared simultaneously in front of, behind, above, below, and to either side of Amon. From each gate extended a hand carrying irresistible distortive authority, instantly robbing Amon of control over his body.

Then, with a single Grafting, all of Amon’s manipulations targeting the Worm of Star were grafted back onto Amon himself. Though they could not truly take effect on him, they nonetheless prevented Edward from suffering the consequences.

In response, Amon immediately invoked the authority of Error, directly invalidating distortion, grafting, and related abilities. His body regained freedom, and all six illusory doors closed at once.

Amon narrowed his eyes slightly, intricate patterns flashing across the surface of his monocle.

Only a few seconds passed before he let out a low chuckle.

"Found you."

He snapped his fingers lightly. One of the illusory doors that had just closed reopened once more.

He had discovered a loophole in the illusory door itself, briefly seizing control and forcing it to reappear—much like a hacker exploiting a system vulnerability to successfully gain control.

At the instant the illusory door re-manifested, Amon stepped through it in a single stride. Another snap of his fingers followed, and dozens—then hundreds—of Worms of Time poured out of the air, burrowing into Edward’s body and freezing him in place.

Yet to Amon’s surprise, there was not the slightest trace of panic on Edward’s face. Instead, Edward looked at him with a faint smile.

"Would you like to take a look at where you are right now?"

"???"

Amon froze.

Before he could clearly perceive his surroundings, he suddenly felt waves of extreme danger radiating from all directions. Even having advanced to Sequence 0, he could not suppress the instinctive chill that ran through him.

This was the aura of Sefirot.

And even more so, the contamination of Sefirot.

He raised his head sharply and saw, in the distance, brilliant golden light, along with the Chaos Sea and the River of Eternal Darkness, entwined together. In the darkness behind him, there was even a third Sefirot!

Amon made an instantaneous decision to retreat.

But Edward suddenly appeared before him, grabbed his arm, and grinned.

"Don’t rush. You’re already at the door—why not come in and sit at my place?"

"Your place?"

Amon’s spirituality stirred violently. He noticed a gate of light floating in midair—slightly larger than before—and behind it, an ancient, majestic palace.

His eyes lit up at once.

That was the Uniqueness of the Door Pathway—and Sefirah Castle?!

Without the slightest hesitation, he reached out to steal it.

He stole nothing.

Instead, his body was pulled straight toward the gate of light.

Just as he was about to crash headfirst into it, Amon, though unaware of what awaited him inside, decisively attempted to steal his position to escape.

At that moment, however, his thoughts abruptly stalled.

Then Edward kicked him squarely in the backside, sending him flying straight through the gate.

"In you go!"

"Phew! Done."

Edward clapped his hands together and let out a long breath.

Just moments earlier, Edward had constructed a false Sefirah Castle, used Fooling on Amon to reduce his cognitive clarity, amplified his desire for the Door Uniqueness, and then repeatedly applied Regression to Amon’s thought process.

It could be said that Edward had used every trick in the book—coaxing, deceiving, swindling, and outright cheating—just to kick Amon into the world of Harry Potter.

When Edward had previously brought Audrey and the others back to the Harry Potter world, it had seemed effortless. That was only because they had not resisted him in the slightest. When facing Sequence 0 Amon, however, as long as Amon was unwilling, it was absolutely impossible for Edward to forcibly take him along through worlds.

As for what would happen after entering the Harry Potter world—

Sequence 0 Amon would no longer be a problem.

However—

Edward took out several Cards of Blasphemy and fell into thought.

During his previous confrontation with Adam, after he had "consumed" the Black Emperor and Fool cards and gained the corresponding Sequence 0 abilities, he had discovered that while those abilities were genuine, their actual effectiveness against entities above Sequence 0 was far from ideal.

From that, he had arrived at a clear conclusion:

Without authority, merely possessing abilities had very limited impact when facing true gods.

Yet, in the brief clash with Amon just now, when Edward temporarily wielded multiple Sequence 0 abilities at once, although he still lacked the decisive, absolute dominance of a god who truly possessed authority, the combined effects of those abilities increased exponentially.

Truly killing or defeating a genuine god might still be difficult—but causing them immense trouble was absolutely possible.

"If that’s the case...then if I could obtain the Blasphemy Slate, the combined abilities of all twenty-two pathways might be far stronger than I originally imagined."

Unfortunately—

Edward sighed and looked toward the gate of light, which was still slowly expanding—the Uniqueness.

"For now, I’ll settle things on Amon’s side first."

With a leap, he followed Amon into the other world.

———

Spring, 1992—New York, United States of America

There was no doubt that this was one of the largest, most prosperous, and most densely skyscraper-filled cities in the world at the time—a quintessential symbol of modern society.

Whether in terms of technology, culture, or economy, it was worlds apart from the Victorian-era Lord of the Mysteries world.

And this stark contrast was precisely Amon’s first impression after being kicked into this world.

He had originally thought that Edward’s unreasonable use of multiple abilities to shove him through the gate of light meant that some carefully prepared "big surprise" awaited him.

Instead, all that greeted him was an overly bustling, noisy metropolis—and endless streams of people, along with strange "carriages" that looked like iron boxes racing through the streets.

Amon immediately understood.

This was another world.

In truth, Amon had long possessed the ability to roam the cosmos and knew that other planets and other worlds existed within the universe. However, due to the threat of the Outer Deities, he had never truly ventured out to explore them.

Thus, he naturally assumed that he had arrived on another planet.

What he could not understand was this:

Why had Edward gone through so much trouble to send him here?

Was he planning to use this planet’s gods to deal with him?

After walking along the street for more than ten minutes, Amon stopped at a roadside bookstore. He stepped inside and casually picked up a few books to flip through.

As expected, he could not understand a single word.

Different nations—Loen, Intis, Feysac—each had their own languages. Let alone different planets.

So...a simpler method would do.

He glanced at the bookstore owner, who was nodding off while staring at the television. With a flick of spirituality, Amon completed parasitism.

Then, watching the flickering images on the small square box, he said in surprise, "This thing is quite interesting. Recording a person’s image and replaying it? Hmm...moving photographs?"

After staring at the television for half a minute, Amon calmed his mind and began rummaging through the bookstore owner’s thoughts, attempting to understand this world.

This was USA...the most powerful nation in the world...Its strongest weapons were nuclear bombs...

The god they believed in was called God?

God?

Amon froze slightly.

Of course, he knew that the Primordial God Almighty who had awakened within his father, the Ancient Sun God, was also referred to as God.

So was this merely a coincidence—or was this planet also connected to that "God"?

With a movement of spirituality, Amon attempted to locate this planet’s Spirit World and Astral World.

He found nothing.

Just as the bookstore owner’s memories indicated, the gods of this world existed only in myths and legends. Apart from a few ancient texts, there were no records whatsoever of divine miracles manifesting in reality.

Moreover, churches here were largely symbolic, holding almost no real power.

As for national systems, they were drastically different as well. Among the more than two hundred countries in the world, only a very small number still retained kings or emperors—and even then, those monarchs mostly held no actual authority.

"Heh. What an interesting place."

Amon smiled faintly and continued browsing information about the most powerful weapon—nuclear bombs.

They had first appeared more than forty years ago. A single one could destroy a small city, while the largest and most advanced nuclear bombs today could even obliterate a major metropolis.

Of course, to Amon, none of this amounted to much—

Until he came across a city contaminated by nuclear energy:

Chernobyl.

Amon’s pupils shrank uncontrollably.

He had known this term for a very long time. He had vaguely suspected that it was related to events before the First Epoch, yet despite years of searching, he had never found an answer.

And yet—

Here it was again.

On another planet.

In another world.

Was it truly just a coincidence?

After all, it was merely a name—having the same name was not particularly strange.

But...another coincidence?

Suddenly, fragments of the basic knowledge he had just learned about this world surfaced rapidly in his mind:

"A year has twelve months and three hundred sixty-five days, with leap years..."

"A day has twenty-four hours, each hour sixty minutes, each minute sixty seconds..."

"There is one—and only one—sun and one moon in the sky..."

"There is belief in God..."

"There is Chernobyl..."

"And there is even..."

The unique language once mastered by his father—the Ancient Sun God.
