Humanity.exe-Chapter 30: Time to Make A Choice (2)

Honestly I’m exhausted after staying up all night... I’d like to head over to the new headquarters today but I need some sleep first.

All of that research was important though. I don’t have any regrets about doing all of that without any sleep.

I made my way back upstairs to my room without making any stops along the way but as I got there, I noticed Reika was in my bed.

I’m not sure why she decided to sleep in my bed but I guess that’s how it’ll be. I’ll just have to go sleep in another room which is fine by me.

"Zero? Just getting to bed now? Just come and lay down." Reika said softly.

I scratched my head for a moment before deciding to just go over and lay down. My body was exhausted and I definitely didn’t feel the need to worry about this.

The bed was nice and comfy, but sharing it with a woman was something I haven’t done in quite some time.

"I guess I’m sharing the bed with you. Goodnight." I said before rolling over to sleep. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Goodnight Zero." Reika replied softly, a bit of relief in her voice.

I wouldn’t expect her to go back to sleep since the night is over but I guess she is probably tired... Mentally. That whole thing was probably a lot on her since Pinky was basically there since the beginning.

Him leaving doesn’t make much sense to me but I guess they decided to make a decision as well.

Rezex I expected to leave since he was already planning on it eventually anyway. Hopefully the next time I meet them it won’t be as enemies in the field.

I don’t really want to fight or kill either of them since they could be great comrades to have at my side. But that’ll be something to worry about later on when I wake up.

It didn’t take long for me to pass out, the hours passed so quickly though and I found myself awake with the sun still shining into the room.

Reika was also laying on top of me which was kind of unexpected but I guess that happens. Feeling her breathing on my chest was definitely something.

I guess she just didn’t want to be alone in all this. I wonder how long it has been since she got to share a bed with someone like this, it definitely has been a long time for me.

I’ve never really had the time for relationships or even just a one night stand with someone.

Renji always took a lot of my time since he was a dumbass but now it feels like he doesn’t need me. That Wraith had to be him, in pretty damn confident in that.

I just wonder what pushed him to that point.

He acted as if he didn’t recognize me in the slightest or maybe he thought he was imagining the image of me. Some people are quick to jump to such a thought because it doesn’t make sense.

I questioned it when I came back at first as well... Until I noticed the metal in my body. They really did pull some miracle out of their ass to bring me back from death like this.

Not everyone can come back like that, even with metal like this. At least they wouldn’t be able to come back as their normal selves, most would just be these husks of what they used to be.

"Good morning." Reika said quietly as she looked up at me.

"You seem quite comfortable there, but good morning." I replied with a bit of a tease.

She moved away after that and sat up in the bed. "I uh... Didn’t intentionally do that but I do think I’ve made a choice." Reika said with a bit of an embarrassed tone.

"What is your choice?" I asked while ignoring her embarrassed tone.

"I’d like to join you. I love Karma but I don’t have it in me to do it all by myself." Reika answered without any hesitation.

"Good. You’ll be my second in command and I can trust you so that makes everything easier." I said with a smile.

"Do you have a name yet?" Reika questioned with a curious look in her eyes.

I think I do have a name for my own gang finally. It came to me after all of the time I spent on the computer last night.

"Kuroten. I guess it is a bit of a play on my last name but there is real meaning to it." I responded with confidence.

"Kuroten... I like it! Alright. I guess we should pack as much up as possible and start bringing it over." Reika said with a bit of excitement in her voice.

"That would be the best plan for now." I replied before getting up out of bed.

No more being fresh meat, I’m the boss now. I’m glad she didn’t give me any grief over the whole thing since I wouldn’t really care. I’ve got plans for this whole thing and it starts with getting everything setup.

I don’t know when I’ll get more people but I also plan to keep helping out in the actual fights myself. I’ll never be the type to sit things out at the headquarters.

F*ck that. I’d rather be dealing with the action directly.

So the rest of the day was met with us packing up the two cars that were still here with as much as possible. Making sure to take care of the tech with care.

It didn’t take long to fill up the car and truck that was here. Luckily there was a small trailer that went along with the truck so we have plenty of space to bring everything.

The sun was already down by the time we finished packing them up. It took quite a bit of time since it was just the two of us.

"Let’s get some sleep and then we’ll head off first thing tomorrow. I don’t want to chance anything in the dark." I said with a serious tone.

"I agree." Reika replied with a calm tone.
