Humanity.exe-Chapter 39: Struggle (2)

The struggle of finding more and more members was what I dealt with for the last few days. Some people join while others don’t want to take the chance.

Reika has been working hard with convincing this Junji guy to join us but he has been pretty reluctant.

The streets have been pretty quiet around us still, no one has really wanted to mess with anything we got going on. Nyoshi has also been working hard at helping us grow Kuroten quite a bit.

He’s around Renji’s age and has been living this life since he could hold a knife or even a gun for that matter.

Nyoshi is rather skilled with combat and that’s probably where he’ll excel the most, but he definitely doesn’t have a lot of metal to him. At least it wasn’t anything noticeable or that he wanted to tell us about.

He did have quite a bit of tattoos though and they weren’t fresh by any means. A dragon on his left arm and some sort of complicated grim reaper like tattoo on his right.

I’ve got a tattoo on my normal arm, one I’ve had since Dad died. The Kurogane name with a deadly black and red dragon flying behind the name.

I give props to the guy who did the work on me in the first place.

"So when am I going to do an actual job Boss?" Nyoshi spoke up with a bit of curiosity from behind me.

Jobs, yeah. I haven’t really thought too much about giving those to some of the members since I’ve been focused on getting everything rolling.

I do need to get some of our guys out in the streets to do some business so we can be a bit more established. It would help with recruiting some more people as well.

"Actually, I want you to head out there and see what you can dig up on some of the gangs around us. The more we know, the better off we’ll be." I responded with a serious tone.

"Perfect. I’ll get right on it." Nyoshi said with a bit of excitement.

After he walked out the room I started working on the computer again. Trying to find whatever I can on Pinky and Rezex.

The two of them vanishing like they did is kind of starting to bother me. They haven’t even popped up since the creation of Kuroten but I guess we aren’t known enough yet.

That much, I knew.

I doubt Myra would be a gang that’s willing to take them in since they are the best of the best. Rezex and Pinky were good, but I doubt it was enough for Myra.

This is all such a pain in the ass, but I did want to be the boss. I’ve got no regrets about starting everything up, it’ll just take a lot of time to get everything to where it needs to be.

Knock! Knock! I didn’t even really need to turn towards the door since not a lot of people are aware of our location. It would have to be someone that we recruited or Reika.

"Come in." I said loud enough for them to hear me.

"It is definitely interesting to see you as a boss now. Leader, boss, doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. Regardless you seem to be running things now." A familiar robotic voice responded.

That couldn’t possibly be...

I turned around to see that Rezex was standing in my office now, quite the surprising sight. No sign of Pinky.

"Where the hell did you guys go?" I asked without wasting a second.

"Pinky I’m not so sure about where he went, but I decided to go searching for some useful information. Karma was basically done for at that point anyway." Rezex answered while crossing his arms.

"Kind of why I made Kuroten. It is a slow start but I believe we’ll be able to take over the city with the right amount of people and power." I said wirh a serious, yet confident tone.

"I’m glad you haven’t really changed since I disappeared. It has been quite awhile since we’ve seen each other but at least the new place is nice." Rezex replied while looking around the office.

I don’t really enjoy being in this office that much since I prefer to be out in the streets myself but there’s still a lot to be done. I’ll probably be heading out after Nyoshi comes back with some information.

"So what really brought you here Rezex?" I questioned while staring right at him, my hands on the desk.

"Obviously I said before that we should work together. I still believe that we would be a good team so I want to join Kuroten." Rezex responded with a serious tone, no signs of sarcasm or some sort of joking tone.

"It would be nice to have someone I know and can trust besides Reika. The others we have are still building up my trust." I said while leaning back for a moment.

"I don’t need a special position or anything, I just believe it would be good to have me here." Rezex replied.

It definitely feels odd that he suddenly appeared like this but I doubt it is for anything malicious. Rezex had the same idea when we first talked back in the cafeteria.

He hasn’t really changed with his way of thinking since then so I don’t think he’ll be a problem.

Reika might be a little unhappy for awhile since he kind of abandoned her... Pinky as well but he didn’t show up here. Rezex has very valuable skills though so it would be dumb to tell him no.

"Yeah. I honestly think you’ll be a good addition to the gang either way. Welcome to Kuroten, Rezex." I said with a genuine tone.

I haven’t been too pissed off lately which is different, maybe I am getting a bit better with handling things. I’m sure I’ll get mad about something but it hasn’t happened in awhile.

It isn’t like me to be like this either, I’ll have to keep up a serious appearance still.
