Humanity.exe-Chapter 41: Corporate Scum

"Corporate Scum." I said bluntly while leaning back in a chair.

Corporations don’t give a damn about anyone or anything if it doesn’t benefit them or give them money. Yeah, everyone needs money but you can still give a shit about your customers.

"That’s what you think about them?" Reika asked while looking at me.

"That thought will never change. I don’t think any good corporations are out there, not in the slightest." I responded with a pissed off tone.

Nanobots could make a difference in the medical field for patients dying of terminal illnesses but they won’t give them that. The government will probably get their hands on it and that’ll be where it stays.

The world would be a better place without all this scum around and without the government dipping its hands in our technology all the time.

When Kuroten rises above everyone in this damn city, we’ll make sure everyone gets what they deserve.

I don’t care how many people have to die in the process.

Kairox will be making a change for the better at the end of it all. People won’t have to worry about corporations being complete scumbags or gangs killing for fun.

"They wouldn’t last in Kairox if they were." Reika said with disappointment in her voice.

Even Reika understands how it is here, it wouldn’t make sense if she didn’t. Our world could definitely use a bit of a reboot in my opinion.

Give people the chance to make it a world they want to live in, but that’ll never be the case. Everything is always going to be shit and the most I can do is change it myself.

Rise above everyone else and make this city what it should be.

"When is Nyoshi coming back?" Reika asked, trying to move past the corporate talk.

"Should be soon. I trust him, at least for now I do." I responded, trying not to sound uncertain about it.

The kid has potential to do great things with us so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Also, taking over the city before I get too damn old would be nice.

I’m already calling someone a kid so it already has me feeling old.

Gahhhh. Damnit.

I went back to my room since I spent most of the time with Reika. It was nice to lay back on my bed since I’ve been working my ass off so much lately.

Eventually I passed out and the next day arrived without me even realizing it at first.

Sitting up in my bed I realized that I needed to get up and start making some more moves. There was some chatter in the hallways but it didn’t really bother me much.

I got my clothes on for the day and then finally stepped out into the hallway, of course the chatter made sense now. Rezex was out here talking with Reika and she was definitely not happy.

"Why the hell would you abandon Karma and then just suddenly come back?!?!" Reika shouted with anger in her voice.

"I came back because I know this is going somewhere." Rezex answered calmly while crossing his arms.

I knew the two of them would cause a scene temporarily since she was going to be pissed at him. Some part of me is kind of mad at him too but he is a valuable member of Kuroten now.

There’s a lot to worry about that is more important than dealing with some old gang drama.

So I made my way past the two of them without them even taking notice of me. They seemed to be to distracted on the issue at hand.

Some of the other members whispered about me as I walked past but it was mostly respectful comments coming from them. None of them would say anything disrespectful to begin with.

Kuroten isn’t going to have members like that, not if I can help it. Eventually I made my way to my office without any interruptions.

Inside I found Nyoshi waiting for me. "Hey Boss, I’m back." Nyoshi said with a casual, laid back tone.

After taking a seat across from him I realized that he had a few scuffs on his face and his clothes were roughed up a bit.

"Welcome back. I can see you were busy, did you find some useful information?" I questioned after taking notice of his bruises and roughed up clothes.

"There’s quite a few gangs around us. Synthriven, Void Blossom, Neon Executioners, and Silver Lotus. All of them are bigger than us and have quite a bit of anger towards Kuroten already." Nyoshi answered while leaning back more in his chair.

"Any idea why they have anger towards us already?" I asked with a serious tone.

"You met one of Silver Lotus’s guys on the streets the other day, guess after finding out you have ties to the Kurogane family... He uh, told his boss." Nyoshi responded with a bit of hesitation towards the end.

Probably that asshole I met with the slicked back hair, I can’t say I’m surprised. You meet all kinds of people but at least I have an idea of who’s around now.

Just need to do some research to see who’s the worst one, then we can make some plans. I’m sure they will all be a pain in the ass in some way or another.

"Void Blossom is the ones that want to meet you most, something about you reminds them of the leader of Myra. I couldn’t tell you what since I never saw the guy before." Nyoshi spoke more.

So I remind them of the leader of that gang? That’s definitely interesting to think about but I don’t think it’ll matter once I finish wiping their asses out.

No one will know what to do or what to say when we finish up with recruiting and building up our armory. We should also have a new doc here soon.
