HUNTED-Chapter 407: Broken Fang (2)
Adrian’s hand trailed further to Keira’s calves and stopped at the back of her foot. Keira winced from the stinging sensation and watched, both enchanted and a little freaked out, as Adrian brought his fingers back with smeared blood on them.
Her lips parted as he sucked on the tips of his fingers, holding her gaze. Goddess, why was that kind of… hot? Jeez, she needed therapy or something. That shouldn’t have made her feel the way she did.
Why was Adrian always vying for her attention anyway? It didn’t make any sense.
This wasn’t the first time they’d flirted, but it had been nothing more than that. In Broken Fang, Keira could relax more. Nobody knew who she was, and any responsibilities that weighed her down vanished.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Keira cleared her throat and pulled away from his orbit. It was hard enough being intoxicated around such a guy.
Adrian shrugged. "Wanted a change of pace." The guy was usually in snazzier bars like ONYX.
"Don’t be shy, Adrian," Sebastian exclaimed with a wide grin, eyes flashing brightly. "You wanted to see Keira and hoped she was here tonight."
"Ugh." Celeste crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at Keira again. "I don’t know what your fascination is with the mongrel. She’s not that pretty."
Sora was on the woman in an instant, claws clutching under her chin. "What was that?" She tilted her head to the side, gazing at Celeste’s dark blue eyes. "Who are you calling a mongrel? You were nothing more than a human before you were changed. Don’t be so conceited. It makes you look ugly."
Mongrel was a term just as bad as calling a werewolf pup or a vampire leech.
"Get your rotten paws off my neck." Celeste glowered down at Sora, clutching onto the sofa armrest.
"Everything alright here?" Don zipped into position beside the women on the sofa. Two bodyguards were behind him.
"What unusual company you keep, Master Adrian." One of the guards commented, watching the girls in delight.
Sora released Celeste and stalked off to an armchair at the end of the two sofas and table between them.
"Just a misunderstanding," Adrian replied while his attention remained on Keira, unconcerned for his friend or the drama that unfolded.
Don and the guards nodded, looking between Celeste and Sora before turning away. "Sebastian is right, though. I was worried." His dark green eyes flicked between Keira’s. "You’ve been on the Gram more. Girls were bullying you?"
She didn’t like that. He was imploring. They didn’t have that sort of relationship. Adrian was fun and flirty.
She didn’t come to Broken Fang to think about her stressful week at school. Before Keira could say something to ruin the mood, the young Vampire Lord seemed to read her expression and swiftly changed the subject.
"Want to dance?"
Keira stared at him. She had been surprisingly comfortable sitting down beside him, but now that Celeste’s ire was directed towards her, the idea of dancing wasn’t so bad.
Adrian stood and extended his hand to her.
Keira reached out but instead grabbed the water bottle. As she did, a server with a tray full of shots stopped by their sofas.
"Ohhh! Yes, please!" Rhea hopped off Sebastian and grabbed two shots, instantly downing hers and handing the other to Keira with a wink.
Rhea leaned closer, holding onto the shot glass and held her friend’s gaze with a mischievous glint to them. "You are going to dance," she whispered, well aware the vampires could hear her.
Keira’s cheeks heated, and she accepted the shot. She needed liquid courage! Rhea watched her and pursed her lips. "In fact, we all are!" Rhea blurted out after seeing Keira’s grimace.
She grabbed Keira’s and Sebastian’s hands, pulling them through the throng of people.
Rhea began dancing to the beat and swung Keira’s hand from side to side, getting her into the beat of the music. Gradually, the alcohol hit the princess again, and her anxiousness began to melt away, her hips swaying more. There was a lightness to her steps as the music thrummed through her.
Keira raised her arms in the air, eyes closing momentarily. Her eyes shot open when she felt another pair of eyes on her, and she smiled softly at the approaching vampire. Adrian smirked, his steps gracefully measured as he strolled towards her as dancers moved aside and paved a path for him.
While Keira’s gaze had been on the Vampire Lord, she realised after looking around that Sora was missing.
"What about Sora?" Keira asked, but Sebastian had already taken Rhea’s attention. They were grinding against each other and passionately kissing. Keira had to look away. They seriously needed a room.
"Sora is happily playing some angry bird game on her phone," Adrian spoke into her ear, leaning forward. He was suddenly before Keira. Her head tilted slightly to gaze back at his features, a little enchanted by his looks as his arms encircled her.
One hand rested on her lower back and the other on the side of her thigh where the material of her dress stopped. Keira’s breath hitched at his touch, but the feel of his cool hands was refreshing against the heat clinging to her skin.
They were cast in red, the mist swirling around them as Keira unknowingly leaned closer to Adrian.
The beat of her heart thumped wildly, body growing hotter as they were grinding each other. Adrian’s hand rose higher on her thigh, clinging to the bottom of her short skirt, tempting her.
Keira snatched Adrian’s hand, though she didn’t push it away. It was only to stop his advances from inching any higher under her skirt. She tutted at Adrian teasingly, and he smirked.
They danced some more, her breathing a little heavier as his hand stroked her back and into her hair. Everywhere he touched was like an ice cube sliding along her sensitive skin. Adrian was such a tempting distraction, one she didn’t mind taking advantage of.
His mouth lowered to her throat, his fangs grazed along her skin, and she felt him smirk when a gasp escaped her lips from the sensation. She clung to his shirt, almost begging him to sink his fangs into her. It was wrong to want it and to act this way, but she couldn’t help it.
Keira gasped again as Adrian chuckled, but it had nothing to do with him. Someone was watching them and their eyes were piercing through her. A chill skittered down her spine, inciting goosebumps to pebble her arms. Adrian hummed, leaving a light kiss against her collarbone, thinking it was his touch causing her to react in such a way.
It was a mixture. Adrenaline pumped through Keira’s veins. She was becoming more alert, but Adrian’s touch, the sensation of his fangs against her skin, his cold fingers caressing her with small circles, it was too much. Her head flopped back, allowing him more access to her neck.
"Adrian," she whispered more gasp than anything.
Adrian tugged her into him, his finger sliding across her jaw to her chin and bringing her head back down so their eyes locked. "Want to go somewhere… more private?"
"Yes," she breathed, needing an escape from everything. She didn’t know what to expect but the thrill of going somewhere she’s not meant to had her agreeing to Adrian Sinclair.
"I was hoping you would say that," Adrian whispered, lowering his lips towards hers. They brushed tenderly for a minuscule moment before Keira was roughly tugged back and slammed into something hard.
She blinked, disorientated at the sudden distance between her and Adrian. She stepped forward but was roughly pulled back again, her back hitting a solid wall of pure muscle. It was utterly undeniable how steely it was against her bare back.
Whoever it was didn’t let go of her wrist, and another arm possessively rested around her waist.
"Excuse the frick me…" Keira began, trying to turn her head around and only faced a window of wide chest muscles through an unbuttoned shirt stopping between said pectoral muscles with a single button barely holding the ensemble together.
Seriously, it looked like the button was shaking with how much effort it needed to keep the shirt together. Surely this man could have gone up a size?
Maybe he had issues trying to get the right fit with his actual frame. Poor button.. It looked like it was going to ping off at any second.
Wait, was that shot hitting her only now? Why was the button more important than the man who separated her from Adrian and was still making some sort of possessive claim on her.
She didn’t know this man who deemed it okay to put his hands on her!
Before Keira could look up and see who this rake was, Adrian stepped closer to them, glaring.
"Let her go before I force you to," he threatened, red flecks and rings around his green eyes glittering. The flecks of red signified his royal vampire lineage. Somewhere along the line, he was related to Gabriel.
Adrian had always been the flirty, fun guy she saw from time to time, but right now, he looked like such a knight in shining… Wait… What’s with this look?

The man behind her growled, the vibration rumbling through her entire body as a rich scent of pine, cedarwood, and a hint of spice wrapped around her.
Adrian looked at Keira puzzled, then to the man behind her. She watched as the cogs turned behind his eyes and suddenly, like something clicked in his place, his demeanour changed. With hands raised as though he was calming a wild beast, and surrendering, Adrian said in a conciliatory tone. "I didn’t mean anything by it."
His eyes reflected a mix of longing and sorrow as he glanced at Keira once more before abruptly turning away and leaving her with a complete stranger. A fricken stranger!
What in the Goddess?!
