"Better than discovering my body on the news the next day," Keira hissed back irritably. "Seriously, he could have been a serial killer!"

Adrian smirked and walked around Keira nonchalantly, continuing down the stairs that led to an alley. "He could have been," he replied, his tone light and humorous. "Didn’t stop you from dry-humping him, though, huh?"

Heat coloured her cheeks red, and she leaned close to him at the bottom of the stairs, hissing, "I did not dry hump him!"

Liar.

"It’s okay." Adrian winked. "I got some of the same treatment. It was nice."

Keira’s mouth dropped open. "Oh, you… You…"

"Where are your friends?" Adrian changed the subject even though his eyes twinkled in amusement.

Keira released a breath, deciding to follow his change in the subject instead of trying and failing to get a real answer out of Adrian Sinclair.

"Sora’s trying to find Rhea, and then we are leaving. I think she’s a bit indisposed with Sebastian, though.."

Adrian smirked. "He won’t be long. I’ve already called for him." A car stopped on the road at the other end of the alleyway. Adrian stepped closer. "I can give you girls a lift?"

Keira was about to politely accept her intention to interrogate him in a space he couldn’t leave when a broad-shouldered man she recognised from behind marched in the opposite direction, his steps aggressive as he left the secret side door of the club a few steps behind them.

"Um… Hold that thought…" Anger bubbled in her chest again.

She didn’t care about having a kiss and then departing ways, but he let her drop to the ground, bruising her knees, and if there had been glass, then cut herself in a club full of vampires and all because of what? Cinderella needed to return home before he turned into a hag and his car into a pumpkin?!

Keira marched after the man further into the dark alleyway, her heels clicking furiously after him until she aggressively pushed at his back—or so she thought. The man turned last minute, grabbed her arm and swung her around until she was pressed up against the brickwork, an arm to her throat. She stared at him wide-eyed, but his features were hidden in the dark.

The hot stranger released her instantly upon realising she wasn’t a threat. "What do you want?" He asked gruffly, the batman voice returning.

Keira scoffed. "What do I want? An explanation… What was that all about? You don’t just get all frisky and then leave a girl hanging. Or…" She stepped to the side, putting a little distance between them. "Are you not single?

You realised it was a mistake and-"

"Do you ever stop talking? Think I preferred my tongue down your throat," he grumbled, and somewhere in the shadow of darkness, Keira saw his arm move and his fingers rake through the strands of his hair.

"I preferred your tongue down my throat as well," Keira clipped back.

"Gods, woman," he hissed.

"Keira?!" Sora called from the other end of the alleyway where some light cast into its depths from the streets. There seemed to be flickering street lamp as well, the light was a little blinding even from here. Adrian was wandering towards his car, arm over Sebastian’s shoulders as he spoke to him.

His behaviour really was strange. She’dran off into an alleyway with a stranger and Adrian turned in the opposite direction, unconcerned for her safety and laughing with Sebastian.

Or did she believe in their friendship too much to think he would care? Adrian was part of a race that was known for their cold hearts.

Keira internally shook her head. That was mean. She couldn’t group him together. Keira could tell Adrian was hiding something from her.

Celeste quickly followed after them while Rhea and Sora stood together looking in Keira’s direction, worry formed on their features. They didn’t come any closer after Adrian murmured something to them.

"Erm…" Keira returned her attention to the man in the dark and shivered as the wind blew across her bare shoulders again. "Can we swap numbers?"

She held her breath, realising how stupid it was to ask him. What happened should have stayed in the club. Following this stranger into an alleyway was also stupid.

Silence followed her question, making her heart thump loudly and anxiousness claw at her chest. She shouldn’t have asked him. Now, it was awkward, and instead of the hot, passionate kissing against the wall, this stranger would remember her as asking him for her number and being denied.

Oh Goddess, he really wasn’t single!

"For a nerd, you’re stupid." Huh? Did she hear that correctly? N-nerd?!

"Here… Idiot." A blanket wrapped around her shoulders, no, not a blanket, his coat. It smelled like him, and she instantly melted into it. The warmth warded off the cold night air.

The stranger gave her his phone and she inputted her number, thinking little of any consequences. He snatched it back and phoned her, the moment it rang, he instantly hung up.

It was done so quickly Keira didn’t have time to register it or try and get a glimpse at his features from the screen lights.

The only thing she could remember was the tattoos on his muscular chest. That button was still clinging on for dear life.

"Go," he grunted before turning away.

Keira watched him a little longer, waiting for the stranger to enter the light and reveal himself-

"Bloody ’ell Keira!" Rhea shouted. "Come on! I’m freezing my ass off out here!"

Maybe not.

Keira turned and quickened her steps until she was beside her friends. She looked behind her again to get a glimpse of the stranger, but she saw nothing in the dark alleyway.

Sora and Rhea looked at the jacket and her flushed features again. Rhea’s smile grew wide, and she clung to her arm.

"Tell us everything!" She squealed as they strode towards Adrian’s town car, ignoring the flashing lights and any consequences that would follow.
