Hunter of Mysterious Creature-Chapter 579 - 138: Senyang Aquarium (Part 2)
"Prioritize your own safety and act cautiously," Yang Qi instructed over the communication channel.
"I understand."
Wang Xiyi glanced down at the mysterious watch on her wrist and realized a problem.
The "heat" emitted by the mysterious watch, to be precise, it's a sensation that only exists in perception. Simply put, this "heat" doesn't exist; it's more like a false signal sent to the brain's temperature sensing center. In reality, the temperature around the mysterious watch hasn't changed at all.
At least in Wang Xiyi's heat-sensing vision, the watch and her wrist are of the same color.
This means there's no way to find that closely related mysterious creature by detecting the heat source.
"It's not entirely a bad thing," Wang Xiyi comforted herself, "At least the other side can't use this method to pinpoint my position..."
A black dragon is a cold-blooded animal, and so is Wang Xiyi. She lay in wait on the rooftop, wrapped her body with black wings, and lowered her body temperature to match the environment. At the same time, the scales on her wing membranes began to change—the metallic luster vanished, replaced by a matte pure black that could absorb all the light reflecting onto the scales... Within seconds, Wang Xiyi blended into the shadows.
"This is what it means to be an assassin..." Wang Xiyi murmured softly, "How does that saying go... Walk in the darkness, serve the light... Sheesh, that's so cringey."
Wang Xiyi began to move slowly.
For some reason, when talking about light, she always thought of Ultraman... She had given Sun Hang several sets of pirated Ultraman DVDs but didn't know if he ever finished watching them.
Wait... something's wrong. If Ultraman is light, then serving the light... does that mean serving Ultraman?
Then she would rather serve Sun Hang after all...
Ultraman's size doesn't quite fit her, and it's easy to get injured... ah, no, it's a dragon injury accident.
While Wang Xiyi's mind was full of random thoughts, she moved along the ridgeline for another dozen meters... Soon, she identified the location of that related mysterious creature.
The thing wasn't in the Senyang Aquarium, but rather inside a van parked not far from the shop entrance.
The van had the Senyang Aquarium logo and phone number on it, and the windows were covered with a layer of black film, making it impossible to see inside.
But one thing was certain: there was no heat source inside the vehicle either.
The engine of the van was also cold, which meant that it hadn't been started in a while.
The dust on the car body and the ground also confirmed this.
"Could I have arrived a bit too late? Has this place been deserted?" Wang Xiyi muttered to herself, "But if they had time to evacuate, why would they leave the Deceitful Equipment behind? One kilometer isn't that far; it wouldn't be easily sensed... Could it be that this set of Deceitful Equipment was custom-made for this operation, and the plan has already been exposed, so the equipment was abandoned as well?"
"That doesn't make sense either..." Wang Xiyi quickly dismissed the thought.
This Deceitful Equipment would still be useful for concealing presence and blocking mind probes, even if not used as a communication tool. The Cult Organization has no reason to leave it here.
Wang Xiyi was less than twenty meters from the van, yet from this distance, she still couldn't sense any mysterious creature aura emanating from the vehicle.
"I'm getting ready to act," Wang Xiyi said over the communication channel, "Just staying here isn't going to work; the other party might have already left."
"What do you plan to do?" Yang Qi asked, her tone slightly tense.
"Go on the offensive!"
As soon as she spoke, Wang Xiyi got up and leaped out, her massive wing membranes quickly spread open, flapping with force in mid-air, accelerating her body abruptly as she plunged down beside the van!
As she landed, Wang Xiyi's arms pierced through the side of the van, her sharp dragon claws ripped to the sides, tearing the metal car door apart like cardboard.
There was nothing inside the van, only a worn-out briefcase thrown on the back seat.
The sharp dragon claws retracted back into the palm, and Wang Xiyi picked up the briefcase.
The leather surface of the briefcase was hot as if it had been roasted on an iron plate, exactly like the mysterious watch on Wang Xiyi's wrist.
"I've found the related mysterious creature, but haven't spotted any suspicious targets. Repeating, I've found the related mysterious creature, no... Damn! There's something hiding inside the store!!!"
A strong sense of danger surged through her. Wang Xiyi didn't even have time to turn her head; she wrapped her wings around herself, crossing her arms in front, her skin rapidly layered with overlapping scales, facing the direction of the impending threat!
"Bang!!!"
With a loud crash, a tremendous force hit from that direction. Wang Xiyi felt her whole body being lifted off the ground, crashing through several buildings in a row before finally slamming solidly against a thick concrete wall, coming to a halt.
"Da... mn..." Wang Xiyi spat out a mouthful of clotted blood, yanked her body embedded in the wall out with force, and in the next second, the entire wall collapsed thunderously behind her.
Looking through the several massive holes she had punched through with her body, Wang Xiyi realized that she seemed to have crossed several streets... Hundreds of meters away, at the wide-open door of the Senyang Aquarium, a giant tentacle was slowly retracting into the shadows.
"An octopus... a cold-blooded animal like me... No wonder I couldn't see any heat source... Hey, Yang Qi?" Wang Xiyi paused, realizing her earpiece had been lost during the impact.
Gazing at the ruins before her, Wang Xiyi knew that the mysterious creature lurking in the aquarium wouldn't give her the chance to slowly search for her earpiece.
"Since it's an octopus, then I'll fly to the sk... ugh!" Just as Wang Xiyi spread her wings, a sharp pain erupted from her wings, causing her to stagger and nearly fall to the ground, a groan escaping from her throat.
She turned to look at her wings and saw a layer of transparent mucus covering the scales where she had made direct contact with the tentacle. The unbearable pain was coming from those areas.
"Neural toxin?!" Wang Xiyi was taken aback.
She considered herself to have an extremely high tolerance for pain—whether it was the black dragon meme fusion experiment in her childhood or the high-intensity battles she faced as a Mysterious Creature Hunter, she had endured much inhuman pain.
These pains far surpassed the medical definition of level ten pain, a level that would instantly trigger a fainting self-protection reflex in ordinary people... But now, Wang Xiyi, who could endure such pain, was nearly brought to her knees by the mucus on the tentacle.
She could clearly sense her body's condition; the wing tissues weren't damaged, whether it was the scales, flesh, or bone... The neural toxin in the mucus wouldn't directly harm the body; its sole function was to make Wang Xiyi suffer... pain far beyond the physiological tolerance threshold.
She even suspected that this creature might be a rule-type entity called "Pain," and it might still cause maddening pain even if she cut off the pain perception center of her brain.
"Hiss..." Wang Xiyi sucked in a cold breath, then gritted her teeth sharply, using her claws to sever her wings!
