Hunter of Mysterious Creature-Chapter 676 - 2: Stereotypes of Tianfu City (Part 2)
The chubby guy's eyes widened instantly: "Hey buddy, that's not how you joke around!"
"I'm not joking." Sun Hang was a bit speechless; he was clearly speaking the truth, yet others refused to believe him.
"Lucky it's me; if it were someone else, even if Mr. Pei is broad-minded and doesn't care, there are plenty of people who would make trouble for you... Honestly, you're lucky it's me you're dealing with. I'm not the type to snitch; so, how about you show some appreciation?"
"Extortion?" Sun Hang looked him over, with a flicker of coldness in his eyes that made the chubby guy shiver.
"Was that my imagination?" The chubby guy felt a jolt in his heart, "Why did it just feel like this guy wanted to eat me alive for a moment..."
However, he wouldn't say these thoughts out loud. The chubby guy awkwardly chuckled twice: "Nah, nah, just kidding, I was just hoping you'd treat me to a meal... Speaking of which, you don't seem to be from Chunming City?"
"No, I'm not."
"Looks like you're working in Chunming City, eh? Such a small world; you just dealt with the mess in Celestial City, now off to Chunming to work hard... Alright, you don't have to treat me. Since you're new to Chunming City, I should act as the host and after taking care of business at Dubhe Tower, I'll take you to the best places... Trust my taste, anything I approve is top-notch~ out-and-out~"
"Next time perhaps, I've got some matters with Pei Zongjun this time." Sun Hang politely declined.
"Buddy, why are you still sticking on this? Telling a joke twice just isn't funny..." The chubby guy's smile froze suddenly. "You... you're not joking, are you?"
"Just now you realized?"
"Are you from the Disaster Response Committee? Or Celestial City Mysterious Creature Research Institute?" The chubby guy gasped, "We didn't discuss any confidential matters, did we? I shouldn't be silenced, right?"
"No." Sun Hang shook his head, "I'm just going to chat with Pei Zongjun."
"Yeah... chat!" The chubby guy nodded his head like a bobblehead, "I was presumptuous. I didn't expect someone as young as you to carry such responsibilities, your future's limitless!"
Sun Hang reckoned the chubby guy was having some misunderstanding, but he couldn't be bothered to correct it - from the guy's perspective, Sun Hang's real purpose could only be described as "ridiculous."
"I'm planning to take a nap, please don't disturb me if possible." Sun Hang pulled out an eye mask from the storage bag behind the front seat and glanced at the packaging instructions, realizing it had a steam heating function.
Pretty high-end.
"Have a good rest, I won't disturb you." Unbeknownst to himself, the chubby guy's self-address changed from "buddy" to "your humble servant."
...
Sun Hang wasn't actually planning to sleep; after putting on the eye mask, he immersed his consciousness into the depths of the mental realm, beginning a thorough inspection of this enormous yet cluttered special space.
Most of the clutter originated from those infected individuals and eerie humans' memories he devoured, along with two enormous piles of trash—the first buried deep in his mind as sealed memories, the other from that mysterious TV entity.
Unlike the human memories, Sun Hang's consciousness couldn't approach these two trash piles; shrouded in fog, he could vaguely see shadows of people or things that quickly flickered by, gaining no clear information from them.
As Sun Hang planned to observe these "trash piles" further, a mild tremor pulled his consciousness out of the mental realm.
"We're here." The chubby guy said softly upon seeing Sun Hang removing his eye mask.
Sun Hang noticed that everyone else had left the cabin, leaving this chubby guy behind because his aisle-side seat blocked the passage.
He dared not wake Sun Hang, only timidly informing him when awake that the plane had arrived at the destination, afraid Sun Hang might have a grouchy waking temper.
"Oh... that was quite a deep sleep." Sun Hang stretched and stood up.
In the mental realm, time perception becomes especially blurry—sometimes feeling centuries passed only to open one's eyes realizing just a moment had passed; other times mimicking a few breath actions leads to several days and nights having gone by outside.
Sun Hang exited the cabin, noticing the tarmac was quite close to the jade pillar, merely a kilometer away. The hunters who left the plane earlier had reached the floating car dock at the tarmac edge, ready to head to their destination.
The chubby guy hurried past, gasping while saying, "We're all heading to Dubhe Tower HQ for reporting, take me with you, take me with you!"
The girl who lost her fiancé in Celestial City glanced coldly back at the chubby guy, "There's only one floating car left here, with six people even without you, you probably wouldn't fit given your size."
Saying this, she gazed past the chubby guy to Sun Hang: "Maybe if it's him, there's a chance it'll fit."
Sun Hang walked past the chubby guy straight to the floating car bay.
"If you're not picky, you can hang onto the floating car's roof." One hunter joked to the chubby guy, "I'll set it to a slower speed, as long as you hold tight, you shouldn't fall off."
After saying this, the hunter turned to Sun Hang: "Brother, you look unfamiliar... I don't recall seeing anyone like you among our Chunming City hunters aiding Celestial City?"
"He's a hunter from Celestial City, reporting at Dubhe Tower." The chubby guy hurried over to explain.
"Ah, I see." The hunter nodded, "Join us in one car for now, and as for the chubby guy, wait for the next one... Honestly, you should lose weight, you weigh like more than two of us."
"Sure, sure." The chubby guy replied lifelessly, waving his hand, "I'll wait for the next one..."
Before he finished, Sun Hang suddenly flipped over the tarmac edge railing, leaping straight into the air.
"Whoa?!" The chubby guy cursed, rushed to the railing to look down.
Though surprised by Sun Hang's action, the hunters reacted more calmly. The hunter who joked earlier waved his hand: "Why so nervous, I bet he has flying or some other ability… he's just showing off a bit in front of us..."
"He's already landed." The chubby guy murmured.
"Landed?" The hunter paused, "The tarmac below has at least a thousand-meter drop, that fast? Can you tell what ability he used?"
The chubby guy shook his head: "When I leaned out to look, he was already walking toward the jade pillar."
