Hunter Of The Six Realms-Chapter 58: Master of the dongeon
Chapter 57
Three days later
Kaizen had just completed the systems daily task. The number of workouts had increased since after he entered level five. And also, he noticed obvious differences in his physique. His chest was broader, his arms more muscular, and his abs more pronounced.
He already had a good structure being that he always trained his body before now, but it was a lot different now. He also noticed he seemed slightly taller too.
[DAILY TASK COMPLETE. REWARD HAS BEEN DELIVERED]
[WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECEIVE REWARD?]
"Yes."
Yesterday I got 50 extra points as rewards, the day before that I got a dagger, golden serpent tooth worth 500 points. I haven’t gotten a coin since the first day. Is the system delaying my training for a reason?
A rectangular golden box materialized this time, and Kaizen caught it just in time. Quickly, he opened it, hoping to find a coin. But there was a single key instead.
He looked up to read the texts.
[YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CLAIMED REWARD.]
[WOULD YOU LIKE TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT STAGE.]
Could this be another training of some kind? I took three days off and today is the last, i have the whole of today to myself, so...
"Yes."
Just as he said it, a black door materialized before him.
A door?
[INSERT KEY INTO LOCK AND OPEN DOOR.]
Kaizen didn’t hesitate and inserted it, then twisted. A click sound echoed, and the door slowly open. Kaizen pushed it open completely, and all he saw was darkness. With a slow breath, he stepped inside. He lit fire on his palm to light up the way, but as soon as he entered, the fire turned off instantly.
The system window blinked before his eyes, and that was the only damn thing he could see in the whole place filled with darkness.
[OTHER ELEMENTS CAN’T BE USED IN HERE]
Then how the hell am I supposed to see where I’m going.
Right then, the whole place suddenly lit up. And it was then that Kaizen finally noticed where he was. It was a large hall filled with lighted pillars and huge stone statues. Also, there were several armoured knights standing along the walls, only that the knights were just amored with nothing inside.
Kaizen’s eye scanned the whole place, the system window blinked again.
[FIRST QUEST: FIND THE MASTER OF THIS DONGEON AND DEFEAT HIM.]
[DEFEAT THE MASTER AND ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL]
Find who?
Right then, the armoured soldiers which he thought were empty started walking towards him, their iron clinking sounds echoing in the hall.
"What the hell?"
Kaizen’s eyes narrowed. He was still trying to make sense of everything when one of the knights suddenly lunged forward without warning. The damn thing moved faster than he expected.
Clang!
A mace slammed straight into his side.
"What the...!"
He didn’t get the chance to react. The impact threw him off the ground and slammed him into one of the thick stone pillars behind him. His back hit it with a loud, sickening thud and for a second, all he could hear was ringing.
He slumped down, coughing, eyes wide in disbelief.
They’re actually fighting?
He didn’t think they’d attack, at least not like that. Since when did armours move and fight on their own.
Still on one knee, he quickly pulled himself together. He opened his palm and a shadow-made dagger instantly materialized in his hand. Just in time, another knight had already closed in and brought his sword down with full force.
Kaizen blocked it with the dagger.
The clash of metal and shadow echoed through the hall. Kaizen gritted his teeth, pushing back hard and jumping away to create space.
The last training of fire, the system made me fight fire monsters, but these knights are using nothing related to shadow. What could this mean?
He didn’t get time to think longer. They were coming again, and fast.
Kaizen didn’t hesitate this time. He darted forward and slid under the swing of the nearest knight, came up behind him, and drove the dagger deep into its back, then he twisted it, hard.
The knight fell with a loud metallic thud.
Kaizen exhaled slowly. "Alright... one down."
But then, a black mist slowly started leaking out of the cut.
Kaizen’s eyes widened.
"What...?"
The mist, or whatever the hell it was, slithered out like smoke... then slowly started pulling itself back in. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"No... don’t tell me..."
The knight’s body jerked once, then again.
Kaizen took a slow step back as the knight got back on its feet. Standing straight like it hadn’t just been killed seconds ago.
"You’ve got to be kidding me."
The knight raised its sword again like nothing happened.
Kaizen blinked.
Did that thing just resurrect?
Another one came for him from the side, he ducked, spun, kicked it away and backed off. His breathing was a little heavier now. Not from exhaustion, but confusion.
So... they don’t stay dead?
He quickly turned and slashed through the second knight’s side. It fell. But the same thing. Black mist started leaking out again.
He watched it closely this time.
The shadowy liquid didn’t evaporate, it slithered. Like it had a mind of its own. And then it went right back in... and the damn thing stood again.
Kaizen stepped back again. "What the hell am I supposed to do then? Keep killing them over and over?"
His dagger was still firm in his hand. His mind was racing. He could fight, sure, no problem. But fighting enemies that kept getting back up?
That was a different kind of hell. It wasn’t like he had infinite stamina.
And they were relentless. Two more knights came charging. Kaizen moved fast, he met the first one head-on, feinted a strike and shoved the dagger clean into its neck joint. It fell, and again the shadow started pouring out.
This time, Kaizen didn’t stop there. He tried reaching for the shadow. But the second his hand touched it, his skin burned.
"Agh—shit!"
